"Oh this? Just simple science, no trick at all." He smiles and waves her off.
"But if you need help all you have to do is ask..."

"Uh-huh." Not quite believing him, Kasey's not sure what else it would be unless Greyson cheated somehow. Maybe it was just beginniner's luck, maybe not, but at least they had food - provided he could cook as well as he caught.
"Fine, fine. Can't argue with science sometimes." She turns and fills the pot with clear water, looking over her shoulder.
"But that's only part one of your challenge."

"Well...I'm confident I can cook the fish." He Hedy's the bag over his shoulder and starts following.
"But we never said it had to taste good or not be burnt."

His dodging the qualifications invokes another laugh from her, fuller than before and slightly pained. Kasey can't help but think of the time her older brother tried to cook supper for the family, somehow managing to burn a pot of ramen on a plate warmer if it wasn't uncooked.
"I'll make sure to be very specific from now on," she promises. "For now, let's go with it needing to be edible and not give us food poisoning later." Maybe they'd need all that fish so he could practice.

"Mm. Deal." He smiles and nods, moving back towards camp.

Kasey follows after him, pot in hand. She sets it off to the side, nodding to his backpack.
"Mind if I use your lighter, are am I doing this the old fashioned way?"

She starts to reach for the lighter, then stops and draws her hand back.
"Nevermind. I've got this." She gives Greyson a sweet smile goes about to settign the fire the old fashioned way!

"Are you sure?"
He keeps holding it out as a temptation, watching to see what she does.

"Yep!" She puts some of the kindling at the end of one of the broader pieces of wood, then pulls out her multi-tool to the knife, cutting a notch in teh other end of the wood. Grabbing a stick, she cuts one of the ends down to a point before pocketing the tool once more.
"I got this," she assures him with a glance over her shoulder. "Trust me." She starts rubbing the spindle along the cut in the broader piece of wood.

"Quite the wood handler. You do this often?"

"First time, actually." Thankfully, her back is to him, but Kasey can't erase the sheepish tone that comes with the admission. There was no way she was going to tell him how she knew to give this a try in the first place. She wasn't even sure it would work. Her pride refused to let her effort be for nothing.

"Hm." He lets her work a while longer before walking over to her and looming. He dangles the lighter over her head.
"You sure...?"

Kasey pauses as the lighter is left to dangle in front of her, a wonderful temptation that would only give Greyson more reason to believe he won, and rightfully so. She huffs and looks up at him from teh corner of her eye, tilting her head to make up the difference.
"Aren't you supposed to be getting the fish ready?"

He shrugs, kicking some dirt the other way.
"I don't know. Hard to cook without a fire."
