He nods, skewering a few and setting them over the fire. He freezes, turning slow to look over his shoulder.
"...bears?"

"Mhmmm." She stopped as he looked over at him, tilting her head somewhat at the shift in his tone. "This place isn't exactly city territory, but we're not going to run into any."

"I wasn't worried." He goes back to cooking the fish, body language still somewhat tense.

"Don worry, I'll protect you." Her grin brightens along with her tone and expression. She could see the tension in his movements and tried to think of someone to pull him away from the thought.
"Besides, if it was that bad, my family wouldn't have brought us out here before." Logical and probably not saying much about her family that was reassuring. Oh well.

"Oh, you've been out here before?" He frowns, that was hardly fair!
"I guess that means we're not exactly on equal starting ground."

"Eh, I wouldn't count it for much." She shrugs, recalling the time. "It was more of a thing my parents wanted. Fun for the whole family. I think it was an attempt to get back from nature? I was five." The details were clear in some places and hazy in others. Normally, she had a fantastic memory, but what Kasey recalled the most about the campground itself was having a similar reaction herself at the mention of bears when her older brother teased her. And green. Lots and lots of green.
A small frown tugs at her lips as she recalls other things with said trip. Shaking the thoughts away, she lets out a small sigh and looks back at Greyson, a hint of a smile returning to her face. That was then, and this was now. She doubted that this trip was going to go south in such a spectacular fashion.
"We didn't stay long, anyway. Left that night. I could have told you there was a creek if you'd asked earlier, but where? All you'd have gotten was a vague wave and something about listening for it."
