Her attacks failed, a fact that was driven home with every blow of Gilgamesh's that landed. Try as she might to block them, to counter or slip in one of her own, it was obvious who was winning. And there was no getting off this damned car unless she wanted to drown in a sea of cats. The advantage she'd risked at the beginning no longer existed, slipping through her fingers like grains of sand. Her body ached where he struck her kidenys, ultimately pushing Valkyrie back off to top of the car until she had no choice but to hop down onto to hood instead, buying her precious breathing space with a sneer.
"So this is how you win. By using others instead of facing me one on one by yourself." As it should have been.

Free of any nuisances (except for some cats that were at least trying to leave her alone), Aurora charged at the mayor as fast a she could with a slight limp. Even that was enough to make her faster than him, and between her wall and all the cats he had no where to run. With a likely broken arm at minimum, she couldn't be dealing with him squirming while she dragged him back to the stage, so she gave him a swift kick to the stomach. She didn't want him to be unconscious for any of this, he needed to see, he needed to hear. With that, her aurora spread out again, and she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt with her good arm. With a few jumps off the pavement and a couple of cars, she started spawning new things under her feet to jump off of to make her way back to the stage from the air.

He shifted back to give Valkyrie space. The words bit, he didn't need them to beat her. And he felt he had proved that, but he needed there to be no doubt. If he was to truly claim victory and the spoils that came with it, he could have no doubts in his mind. Or in that of the Master's when he was inevitably informed of the death of his other disciple.
"Scurry away then. I'll kill you on your terms then. So there can be no doubt which of us is better."
No matter how she stacked the deck to favor her, he'd win. He had to win, this was a rival he could not afford to lose to. Not again, not with so much on the line. So he'd play her little game. He let her go for now, but he'd only come back harder and stronger next time. He was getting stronger every day, and as long as he kept pushing himself he was sure she would have no chance of keeping up. Natural talent would only take someone so far.
