James was extremely busy. There were too many things that needed to be done in perpetration of the night's guests, and it would've been even worse under normal circumstances. Luckily, he had the foresight to keep the restaurant closed for the day, in order to keep the workload to a minimum. It wasn't as though anything that needed done was overly difficult, but the special circumstances of the night demanded that everything be in pristine condition. One of the new hires hadn't shown up the night before, and it had been a hectic night. Luckily, James managed to get everything done, and with time to spare. He glanced at the clock and smiled; it was a good thing that Escanor was so easily manipulated, or else he'd be stuck doing more research for the night, as opposed to enjoying the entertainment of the two guests' awkward interactions. He took a seat by the locked door and awaited their arrival, whether it be together or separately. James was content to wait, as the suspense made the reward all the more worthwhile. Lillith’s cheeks were puffed out in indecision as she looked at her dress choices. She was going to James’ restaurant with Escanor. Her heart fluttered and she raised her hand to in order to calm it down. Despite what her traitorous heart thought, it was just Escanor proving a point to his longtime friend. It wasn’t a date, despite James’ attempt to make it so. ’Still….’ she thought, checking her choices in the mirror, ’It couldn’t hurt to look nice.’ Deciding on a sleek black satin number she tossed the other choice over a nearby chair. Her chosen gown wrapped around her neck in a halter fashion. The bodice of the dress clung close to her body, ending just above her knees. Slipping on black wedges she walked to her bathroom and began brushing her long hair. She pulled her hair into a bun and put small emerald studs in her ears. She left her neck bare due to her dislike of necklaces.
Her eyes slid over to a small purple bag with a golden rose print. The makeup bag. Despite how long she had had it, the thing still looked as if it had never been used. Typically it would be left alone, unused. The dark haird woman paused, had Escanor ever seen her with a full face? She didn’t think so. Tonight that was going to change. Opening the bag she pulled out what she needed. A few moments and a thin layer of foundation later she got to work. Bronze smokey eye with charcoal eyeliner and brown mascara to frame her green eyes. Peach blush to add some color to her colorless face. And red lipstick to finish off the look. Finally satisfied she put her things away, grabbed her bag and made her way to Indulgences.
When she arrived, it almost seemed to be closed. This was where they were supposed to meet right? As she neared the door she noticed James sitting there, almost as if waiting for someone. Realization hit her like a ton of bricks. He had made sure that no one else would be able to intrude on their night…by closing down. That cheeky little devil. For a moment she considered turning on her heel and returning home. But it was too late to back down. Gently she rapped upon the door, trying to get the larger man’s attention.

"GAH NONE OF THESE WORK! DAMN IT ALL!!!"
He ignored the jacket he had left in his bedroom wall from his a latest toss, knowing he could repair in an hour with no tools...but how utterly infuriating could this become, him being unable to decide what to simply wear for this supposed date. It should not be difficult but he could infer why it was, she was a fantastic mystery who resisted his charm and was a joy to be around, someone who would not bow down to his rule but respected it at least. And he, ESCANOR S. MUSTANG, was head over heels in love with her. Damn that James for putting into this problematic predicament, he had asked many times before but had perhaps been too subtle or not sincere enough for her to take the dinner offers seriously but now that it was here, he had no idea how to please. She deserved the best but he knew she would scoff or laugh if he went out in a tuxedo...But what if it were casually worn? He snapped his fingers which caused an unnaturally loud bang and ran into the closet, changing in less than a second into the black tux, but left the outer jacket hanging off his right arm and a little ruffled white dress shirt and black tie was his only cover. There he was almost ready...now time for hair.
Four hours later and the city's pretty boy was walking towards his 'best' friend's restaurant, his hair having no product in it and actually having settled for simply having a combed back look. God he hoped this truly did not disappoint her-...he should've dressed up better. As soon as he eyes fell on her, it was a miracle he had not scooped her into his arms and kissed her- was that make up as well? He let out a quiet breath and forced a confident smile onto his face as he arrived at the lock door. Oh thank heavens the chef knew to close down early, he could not handle any more harpies ruining time with this beauty beside him. He allowed three knocks to get his attention before turning to her.
"I apologize for nearly being late, terribly rude to keep you waiting even a second."
He wanted to say so much more but he didn't feel it'd be right right now, perhaps later in the evening.

James smiled as he heard the light knocking on the door. It seemed the show was about to start, and it was time to allow the entertainers to make their appearance. He stood and unlocked the door, blocking their view into the restaurant.
"Greetings," he said cheerfully. "Escanor, you're looking quite dapper, even compared to usual. Lilith, even Liliane would find herself jealous of your beauty, as would be expected. And together, the two of you make an extremely attractive couple. Please, come in."
He took a step back and to the side, accompanying his welcome with a flourish. Inside, the lights were dim, far darker than James would ever normally allow his restaurant to be. However, it set what he felt to be a nice ambience for the single table sitting center stage, a similarly lone white candle burning a safe distance away from a bouquet of red roses. The other tables were either moved downstairs or up against the wall, giving the restaurant an open air feel. The potted flowers, usually set in the corners of the room, were set a few feet away from the central seating, mixes of various hues of purples and yellows.
"Take your seats, and please, let me know when you're ready for the meal."

Footsteps caught Lillith's ears as she lowered her arm. Turning her head, her breath hitched in her throat. God damn, she didn't think that man could get anymore handsome. There was a reason why so many woman openly swooned at him. Even if they were just friends, this was quite the bragging right. Giving him the once over, she raised an eyebrow.
"It's fine, don't worry about it Narcissus. I should have known you'd wear a tux. Though the casual look suits you."
Nervously she bit the inside corner of her lip. Part of her was already dreading what James had conjured for this evening. Almost as if the thought had summoned him, the chef opened the door and ushered them inside. The dimmed lights gave a romantic feel to the whole place. But the way he had staged the place made her very suspicious of James' motive. She was almost certain that their taller friend was getting some sort of kick out of this. Lillith walked over to the table. Despite her suspicions, the black-clad woman had to admit it was beautiful in here.
"You never cease to impress me with your decor in here James."
With those words she took a seat. Her eyes slid across the table to her dinner companion. She did not know why she was so nervous. She spent eight hours a day, five days a week with the guy. They had even had meals together before! But today, today was different. It wasn't just a lunch date with the boss. It was a date date with a many who was very attractive and knew it. God James was such an ass. She did owe him for this though.

"And I must say you look ravishing yourself Lillith, you did a fantastic job with the makeup."
Escanor smiled at her, and was able to partially ignore James comment towards her while shining a bit at Lillith's slight compliment. Of course he should've known any style would suit him, but it appears he made the correct choice for her with casual. He spared a glance around the restaurant and nodded with his own approval toward the larger man's establishment. He had to give James some credit, he did very well with the money he had provided him, he was going places that was for certain. But now was not the time to think of the future, instead the present was shining brightly with the inferno before him.
"It's a fitting setting for tonight, I will give you it that."
James did it in an annoying manner, but at that moment Escanor was thankful for the opportunity. He attempted to relax slightly but it was difficult for this date. Others he could brush off, they weren't worthy of his time mere distractions or playthings to see how far they would go...it was honestly disgusting...no Lillith he respected and deserved his respect she did, so he was slightly out of his element as he attempted to earn hers.
"James I believe us both to be ready for the meal, I trust you won't disappoint with it."
There was really no subtle-y in the message of 'give us alone time' but he couldn't bring himself to care as he stared at his fellow patron.
"In the meanwhile, what would you like to discuss Lillith?"

James hid a smirk at Escanor's "request". What he wanted was blatant, but that suited the large chef's interests quite well. Even if most patrons actually placed an order. Instead, he would simply have to use his better judgment on what to prepare, but that worked well too.
"I'll be sure to take my time to make sure it's prepared perfectly," he said cheerily. "Enjoy yourselves while I'm away." He stepped out of the room and into the kitchen, the perfect meal already in mind.

Lillith flushed at Escanor's compliment. Why, she didn't know. For gods' sake he gave them out like candy. Still...
"Thank you Escanor."
She definitely felt a little on edge with this date. They were friends right? There is nothing wrong going out to eat with friends. Alone. In an empty restaurant. How the hell did James convince her to do this again? Oh right, he tricked Escanor into it after she said she would dine here tonight. Dammit James. She shot the large man a look but otherwise said nothing. Her tablemate's question brought her attention back to him, and her growing nerves. What did one talk about with their handsome friends? After a moment she realized she didn't know that much about him outside of work. It was a start at least.
"Well, I find it strange that we spend so much time together and yet know so little of each other. So what hobbies do you have other than creating perfection?"

Escanor allowed himself another slow breath as he looked over her, there was only a small chance she considered this date but that chance was nice to think and hope about. He needed to calm down, she was Lillith his friend and lo- friend...just friend at the moment. Her question at very least helped him out of his slightly dream eyed staring of her. Why was she so beautiful? wait wait question.
"I guess we have only discussed such because hang around at work hours, so that is fair you know not much about those. My preferred hobby at the current moment is actually Karate, I've taken up boxing and muay thai but want to master a third if you can believe that. I'm only on my third fighting style, I really should pick up the pace it's unbecoming of me."
He could feel a rant coming on and stopped himself with a slight cough before smiling at her once again, this even could not be all about him, she was also here and deserved her chance to speak.
"What of you? Besides being a fantastically organized and independent person, I do not know much of your hobbies or likes and dislikes."
Please let himself be like instead of a dislike...

"Karate huh? I currently study Taekwondo myself. I studied Kickboxing and Combat Sambo when I was younger. I also play video games to unwind every now and again."
'More like every night.' Her inner voice scoffed. Oh well there was time to ease him into that if this went anywhere. Though Lillith was impressed that Escanor had been able to stop himself from ranting. She didn't think anyone could stop him from doing that. Biting her lip she tried to think of something else to speak about. The only thing that immediately came to mind was the proposal draft she had due for her online business class the next day. Poof. Like that a topic came to mind.
"I'm in the last quarter of my business degree so I'll probably find more time for my hobbies after that's done. Do you have any degrees? Other than cosmetology of course."

She had taken on three fighting styles. He had assumed at least one as she was a spitfire who could handle her own in a fight, but three was impressive. She just continued to prove her worth with every word.
"SAMBO and kickboxing? I would be willingly to help you with the latter, if you could assist me with the former."
He smiled at the thought, it would be a good time for them to relax somewhat and not discuss work as most of their time together seemed to be spent discussing. He thought about his own question and how he could answer it. They could talk about what games she played though he wouldn't know too much about what she played. Or they could discuss degrees as she just suggested.
"Business with cosmetology, As much as I wanted to do the latter first, I had to do the former so I did not waste my inheritance. This place we sit in was actually my first investment and I believe it to be quite the success."
