That was the reaction Sin Eater had been looking for. It was satisfying, but more importantly, it served her purpose in coming here. The fear she sensed from Azoth was clear enough. The sudden structural flaws that began appearing in Sin Eater's own clothes were more puzzling, but they didn't seem to be a pressing issue. With this, the whole incident would be neatly wrapped up.
Sin Eater remained calm despite Azoth's intensity, her tone and expression still flat. "I honestly don't know the complete answer to that question. I couldn't make out where the portal led, after all. But you'll find most of him just outside the Cartwright mansion."
She didn't bother to elaborate further. In the first place, she doubted that Azoth could be baited into sticking around much longer, and it's not like there was any more need to delay her. Geata's body was outside Sin Eater's range, but she was plenty familiar with what happened to someone who was eviscerated like that. If anything, Azoth coming across the body while the last sparks of life were in the process of flickering out might be even more impactful.
And that was the whole point, after all. With Geata killed and revealed to her in such a traumatic fashion, Azoth would be broken. She would devote herself to getting revenge, Sin Eater expected, but she would also serve as a living reminder of what Sin Eater could do. Weighed against the caution that other supers would now show around her, one additional bitter enemy wasn't so bad.
Sin Eater still wished that she had never killed Geata, but this was an acceptable way to salvage the situation.
She made no move to stop Azoth from leaving. Her expression looked almost bored. Inside, she felt the beginnings of relief, but this whole fiasco had only soured her mood even further. It seemed that nothing could go right lately.
