About a month ago, part of the park was destroyed by an unknown perpetrator. The investigation went on for quite some time, but whoever, or whatever, caused this was never caught. The area was declared unsafe for awhile, even after the area was repaved, but further investigation turned up no other signs of danger. Thus a group of people started cleaning the area up again, and were looking for volunteers to help. They were doing simple things, like putting in new grass, filling in the holes, cleaning out the broken and dead trees and replanting them, and even adding new park benches and flowers. When Yulia heard about this, she knew she had to participate. She was actually really excited about it. Yulia loved the park, so it always made her sad to have so much of it closed off and to see that much of it in such disrepair. Being able to return that to normal sounded like a great way to spend an afternoon.
Sunday came quickly enough and Yulia showed up at the destroyed part of the park to help. They had already made so much progress she could hardly recognize it. There were no more dead trees or torn up flower beds. The shattered park benches had been removed, and they were starting to put new ones in. There was still a lot of work to be done though. There were big holes were the trees used to be, and there were still several other holes all over the park itself. Some people were starting to fill those in with dirt brought from elsewhere, but they still had a lot of work left to do. That had to be done before they could start replacing the grass. Another small group of people were off to the side replacing some of the flowers on the edge of the concrete. It was all coming together nicely. At the rate they were going they might even finish everything before the sun went down.
Yulia herself didn't have the physical strength or endurance to handle most of these tasks, so she just focused on cleaning up any trash left behind from the containers the flowers came in, or the bags the new dirt was in. Occasionally she'd bring various tools or whatever people needed to complete their own tasks to them. She was just supporting everyone else, making sure they had what they needed and that their areas were clean, while otherwise staying out of the way.

Samantha lumbered through the park, suspiciously, her pack of strays had apparently been left behind. She sighed almost guiltily at the enormous hole she passed and pulled her hoodie up as she averted her eyes, hands shoved into her pockets. If anything, she looked like someone planning a murder, not a good Samaritan.
However, she walked up to a girl handing out various tools and coughed in an attempt to gain attention without anyone really looking at her, "Um...shit...shit! Sorry but can I...help...somehow?" She asked, head lowered so far and voice cracked so much that she thought it highly probable that the girl couldn't even tell she was a girl.

Kasty had initially come to the clean-up through a sense of obligation. He knew since he’d seen the announcement for it that if he’d tried to go on with business as usual for that afternoon, the knowledge that people were working hard to clean up this wrecked part of the community would continue to bother him in the back of his mind until he would have no choice but to show up anyway. He figured it’d be faster just to skip that first part, regardless of how dull the announcement made it sound, and had come here directly after his classes.
But then he’d gotten really into it. Kasty had never been much of a gardener, but it was surprisingly rewarding to step back and see all the new plants set neatly in the new planters, and to slowly watch a destroyed area be built up better than before. He was covered in several layers of dirt and not regretting his decision to come in the slightest.
Presently, he was scanning the work party for anyone unoccupied. Most people were already busy with their own tasks, the strength-types hauling in benches and taking down trees, and others building up and filling in the next planter, but two students stood out to him as possible recruitments. He trotted up to them.
“Hey, think you guys could give me a hand? I spotted a bench caught up in one of the broken trees over there.” He hadn’t the slightest clue how it’d gotten up there, but the twisted remains of a metal and wood bench had stuck in the branches of a half-wrecked tree. “I got a ladder there already, but I need some help getting it down.”
He waved for them to follow, and already assuming a “yes”, began back for the tree.

"Um..."
Yulia thought for a second when the person approached her. Partly because she was a little creeped out by how she was acting, but partly because Yulia honestly didn't know what work there was left to do. She was just there to do simple tasks, and just did what people asked her to do, she wasn't exactly the right person to go to for this kind of question. Fortunately, someone did need help, probably from both of them given the absurdity of the task. Yulia didn't even want to know how that bench managed to get tangled in a tree like that.
"Yeah, let's go," she nodded at the other student.
It looked like the boy that asked for help only had one ladder though. The thought of having to get that close to someone was a bit unpleasant, so she would rather avoid having to climb up there. Being on the ground was more comfortable anyway.
"I'm Yulia, it's nice to beat most of you. I think I should just hold the ladder and make sure it stays steady so the two of you don't fall off. I'm not very strong anyway, so I don't think I'd be much use in getting that bench out of there."

Samantha perked up as somebody else called for some help, a boy already covered in dirt. Her jaws dropped at the task, what could have possibly thrown a bench up there!? A hurricane!?
Still, it looked kinda fun! You know, if it didn't crush somebody below them. She gave a quick nod to the girl who wanted to hold the ladder before loping off, drawing her hands out of her pockets to better climb.
She didn't wait.
In one go, she was already clambering up the ladder, eyes locked above herself. She moved fast enough that the boy could follow if he wanted, where she was already hanging by one arm, assessing how to even go about this, "So? What now!?"

“Yulia, huh? I’m Kasty.” He said. “And that’s perfect - I’d rather not get a head injury over a bench in a tree.”
He had enough speed in his step that he was halfway up the ladder before it was properly stabilized, but even then he was bested - the other person was, by then, already in the tree. Hanging by one arm. The thought that perhaps he should follow in suit crossed his mind, but he quickly dismissed it. That’s exactly how he got a head injury.
Instead, he came to stand at the top of the ladder. “It’s up there.” He said, pointing. In the tree above was the shrapnel of a once proud bench, scattered and stuck among the broken branches. “If you hand me the pieces, I’ll drop them on the ground.” With any luck they’d have this done before too long.
“It’s great the city has initiatives like this for restoring destroyed areas.” Kasty continued for the sake of conversation and not working in awkward silence.

"Um..."
Yulia blinked a few times at the other girl. She didn't bother to introduce herself, but at least it looked like she forgot out of enthusiasm rather than discomfort. It wasn't that important anyway, and she had a job to do. Yulia quickly moved towards the ladder, holding the bottom to make sure it stayed stable while the other two worked. She stayed off to the side, grateful that she had long arms so she could keep a pretty good distance from the ladder itself. She smiled sheepishly when the first bits of wood started coming down.
"I should have grabbed some trash bags. But...I'm really glad that that I'm able to help here too. It's really nice to see that no matter how much damage is done that it can always be repaired...right?"

Samantha shook off her hood as she reached the top, wrinkling her nose at the sheer force of the smell of split and possibly disintegrating wood, this couldn't come down fast enough!
She heaved what looked like a board down at the boy she had vaguely heard as Kasty before she had run off, trying her best not to smack him on the head as her arms strained. Yet, amoung all this, the thought of falling or getting hurt never surfaced in mind.
She shrugged at Kasty's attempt at conversation, "Eh, even without the "good ol city", these would be gone some day." She hastily pushed down another shard of bench, "Somebody would do it, like me, unless they're that shitty a person."
She paused in her efforts to look down at...Yulia, was it? She took a look around the park, it was so high up here, and assessed the damage. Repaired, huh? "Yeah," She mumbled, not entirely believing her own words, "It's great." She hauled herself up further, balancing on the edge.
She risked a glance down at Kasty, "Hey!" She barked as she grabbed a chunk and started pulling, feeling the wood splinter in her grip, "Watch it, we're getting a big one!" Warning made, she swung down, hoping he would catch it before she discovered how falling from the sky felt.
