Despite working, Kasey found that weekends during summer vacation felt the strangest. Not only was she free of finals, but now she had so much extra time on her hands and a dozen different ways to spend it.
Today, she was perusing the mall, slowing as the sounds of an aracde reached her ears. That was certainly one way to enjoy herself, and she had the time. Maybe she'd even find a few old school games in there!
The enthusiasm carries her forward, already anticipating the crowds and sounds of varioius games. The next difficult question was, what should she play first?

Shane was in a strange mood at the moment. On one hand his brain was happy to finally have a break from school and not have to think, but on the other it was kinda dead from the work he was doing. It wasn't hard thankfully, managing a few of the machines was his main occupation and taking care of some kids who ran around on a sugar high. Plus he got plenty of small breaks in between to get a few rounds in each game, currently he was attempting his luck at an old undead shooter game.
"Just die...again you flipping zombies...ACK"
He mumbled a bit with a small grin before teeth marks covered the screen and signaled game over. Two issues he had with the arcade, one no employee discount cause the owner was smart enough to know Shane'd abuse that and two it was really freaking hard to get another employee to join as they were apparently 'too mature'.

The employee is included in her first sweep of the place, then again as Kasey takes the time to come back the opposite way with her decision still unmade. His exclamation, along with the sound of teeth gnashing as they chomp down at the game over screen, catch her attention at last as she gives him a sympathetic shake of her head.
"Looks like you were doing pretty good. Wanna try a round with backup?"

Shane had bounced around in place with a very..manly...yelp.
"Ack...clickclick...click..."
Another thing was it might've been frowned upon by his boss that he played those games, explaining his surprise and attempt at shooting with a fake red gun, almost tangled up in a wire.
"Oh uh sure thanks cool...sorry for attempting to uh shoot you with a uh gun."
He chuckled while attempting to untangle himself."

It is a very impressive yelp. Kasey holds up her hands as the gun is aimed her way, the bright red dot flashing across her vision as the guy attached to it spooks.
"Cool." She tries to muffle the giggle that comes with the sight of him getting tangled in the cord, but stops as she goes up to him to help free him of his snare.
"I bet you say that to all the zombies."

"Riiiiight cool as a flipping sun"
Shane murmured blushing slightly but none the less thankful for help, he really didn't want to have to explain how a gun was ripped out of the machine cause of him tripping. He grinned a bit at her 'bet' and laughed a little.
"And you'd be surprised, normally they're eating out of my skull by now, so you gotta be special...or I'm just really off my game today, which is really weird cause I get wrapped up in it frequently."
He snickered at his awful pun before rolling a few coins in for a retry and extra player.

Kasey doesn't linger on his embarrassment, instead focusing on helping him get free and the conversation about the undead. She even laughs at his pun, stepping back when he goes ot put in the coins.
"Everyone has their off days." Stepping up to the game, she picks up the player two gun and gives him a nod. "But that's why you have backup now. Either we win or our brains are dinner together. Not that that'll happen." She winks.
"I'm special."

"Oh ho aren't we confident, well I'd hate to disappoint then...personally I prefer winning over becoming dinner."
Shane chuckled once more, checking the cord real quick before the game started to make sure it wasn't too messed up before giving a satisfied nod. A thought popped into his head before he glanced at her.
"And if my boss happens to notice, we're testing the two player to make sure it works."
With a grin he turned back to the game as it started, noticing he almost lost his head once again to the undead before six shots were fired into it. The pistol held more than six but he reloaded nonetheless as more came into view.

"Pretty sure most people do. Unless you're the zombies." She grins and nods, eyes taking on a mischievous light as the big scret is revealed. Somebody's still on shift!
"Your secret's safe with me." Firing off seven shots, she reloads as more come onto the screen. Better to reload now than go down later trying to do the same thing.
"Awww, look, they're lonely," she coos, the words melting into another laugh.

"I should hope you wouldn't want to spill said secret and lose your only chance at survival"
Shane grinned a bit cocky now as he quickly began firing and reloading, adding one more bullet into each burst, gaining a better rhythm now that he had someone to cover for his blind spots. He did have a sneaking suspicion she'd be the type to blackmail but he was having a bit too much fun to care.
"Unfortunately I can only suggest lead as the cure to loneliness in this case."

"Now where's the fun in that?" The game holds her attention for a while as she covers her partner, occasionally quipping with an observation of humorous comment. This is not limited to the "one little, two little, three dead little zombies" line.
"I'm sure they'll understand. It's for the best." Her mock-solemn expression turns to one of triumph as she fires off another round and drops a zombie.
"Ha!" relishing in her victory, she continues a more humane conversation.
"So what's your name?" Because who looks at name tags when they're on a zombie holiday?

"Not much of assume, and not half as lively"
He let out a loud laugh at his joke before sorta twirling the wired light gun. He didn't blame her for not noticing the name tag, he normally kept it kind of hidden on his Sherlock hat so kids couldn't call his name to drive him to insanity.
"Shane, Shane Mcloud, zombie killer, gamer and pun extradonoire."
He finished the intro with a slight bow and flourish of the hat and gun before placing said hat back and showing a full blown grin on his face.
"Might I inquire as to who my partner in crime and potential blackmailer is?"

She laughs along with him at the pun, admiring the confident display and, perhaps, secretly waiting to see if the gun would fall. At least she wasn't the only one not to notice his name right away, or else she would have felt silly.
"Nice to meet you, oh lord of zombie massacres." She gives him a slight bow in return, then fires off at another zombie before continuing, acting as though she would blow a smoking gun.
"Name's Kasey. Kasey James. Just consider me your lucky charm today." Her lips tug up at one side.

"Pleasure to meet ya, oh lucky charm. Though I must admit to wondering if you're lucky or unlucky."
He grinned and wouldn't admit that he had almost dropped the gun three times in his small act before quickly unloading an entire clip into the horde.
"Should I be worried or thankful that you're on my side?"

"Well, you've lived through the invasion so far, so it's your guess." She reloads as he unleashes the mighty fury of pixelated lead.
"Well, I could just let you finish the vacation solo. I'm sure they'd love to show you the local cuisine."
