When he felt the blade being pressed into his stomach, Geata suppressed the urge to whimper in response. Clearly, the woman in red was far more comfortable with taking a life than he was. It was suddenly very obvious that he was in way over his head, but she quite literally had a hold on him. Suddenly, a portal opened up beneath them and they landed on the roof. By some stroke of luck, Geata didn't break anything on impact, but it was enough to knock the wind out of him.
"Geez, lady," he groaned, "chill out, it's not like I'm gonna try and kill you. No need to shank me."

She could feel the shift in power come back into her favor as they fell, the bluff called and the ground that hurtled toward them disappearing beneath a portal as they fell onto a roof. She could feel the impact jar her bones as they landed, the concrete shuddering without cracking or breaking. That was good. This one relied on his tricks then, without a hidden strength to worry about as well. She had enough of that to deal with already.
At least he made for a decent landing pad. The downside was that gravity still existed as it should, so the knife bit in even harder into his skin. Then the pressure would become a distinct burst of pain as she stabbed him with the knife, letting it drive the point home that Valkyrie was having none of it.
"First thing to know when you try out for your little dream? People fight back," she snapped, already pulling back and waiting for some sort of trick with the portals to take place again. She could always stab him again to make her point more prominent, but she figured he'd be more than able to respond with his tricks now that he no longer had to doubt whether or not she would get violent.
"Neither am I." He'd already be dead if she wanted. Either way, it was time to leave.

The instant the blade started to sink in deeper, Geata opened a portal just beyond the tip in order to minimize damage. He considered having the lady stab herself, but not only would it probably not work, it would go against what he had just said. So the blade of the knife reappeared elsewhere, a few dozen feet above their position.
When she pulled back, she still kept a tight grip on him. Cursing his luck, he frantically debated his next move. She made it clear stabbing him wasn't off the table, but he still wasn't going to resort to similar tactics yet. Instead, he opened a portal above his head, one big enough for her to fit. Through it, she would only be able to see the sky. He then rapidly pushed up with his legs, trying to fling her off of him and through it.

The tactic was clever; another time, she might have given him that. Using her position and momentum to fling her off would have gone well, The conflict in momentum meant they were no longer going backward from Valkyrie's perspective, where she was able to see the sky and predict another trip through the portal. The same thing he had done time and again during their encoutered, like a one-trick pony.
It seemed he had succeeded since she did let go, rolling forward and curling into a somersault as she was sent through the portal to only her opponent knew where.

When Val emerged from the other side of the portal, she would find that it simply led to the other side of the roof. It was only a tactic to buy Geata enough time to get to his feet, and one he quickly took advantage of. He then entered a makeshift fighting stance that made it very clear he had no clue what he was really doing.
"Hey, lady," he said, his eyes reflecting the grin of his mask, "you need to chill out. Do you need a hug?"

Val blinked when she understood that he had simply looped the portal back around to the opposite side of the roof. He was fond of shifting stances like he'd seen too many kung fu movies doctored up by the media. She was also growing displeased with any real action coming from the hooded form, regardless of his banter. The comment of a hug made her eyes narrow, but Val had no words for him.
Instead, she looked around once more, between his stance and the portal, and yawned.

The lady's reaction, while subtle, was all that the masked super needed. Geata dropped the fake stance, instead deciding to go with a move that had already worked once. He ran towards her before diving through a portal. Like last time, he emerged a few feet above and behind her.
He only had one chance of pulling his trick off, he was well aware. He just hoped she would take the bait...

Valkyrie tensed, falling into an actual defensive position as the super rushed her. Was he really that stupid? He coudln't be. If he was, he needed to get out of the gene pool.
At the last second, his portal appeared, which was enough for her to react to. Already, he had proven he liked sneak attacks, and since he wasn't trying to throw her into one, that meant he would actually try to be sneaky. But would he try to get the drop on her, himself, or if he would try to drop something on her instead. He hadn't done anything particularly violent so far, but she didn't know what it would take to change that.
Instead, she spun around, expecting a portal behind her and not surprised to see it in the slightest. She remained on the defense, taking only a single step back to ensure he wouldn't have an easy time dropping her off the edge of the roof with whatever he was going to do.

Geata grinned as the woman fell for it, turning to face him as he emerged behind her. Just as quickly as he appeared, he vanished into another portal and once again appeared behind her, this time on the ground. The instant he emerged, he sprang up and wrapped his arms around her.
"I wasn't kidding about that hug," he joked.

What. What was this? Immediately, Val went to break his hold, expecting some sort of surprise grapple or throw that belied his stature. Instead, he was hugging her. Why? What purpose was this? Didn't he understand that this was a fight? Why would he---
Of course. He was trying to distract her. To take her unaware, to make it seem like a playful person who meant well. The moment she would let her guard down was when he would strike. Well, she wouldn't let him. It took two split seconds of shock before the reality of the situation set it. How dare he mock her like this? And how dare she? How dare she show weakness to this person? Her master would never forgive her. Indeed, she would already be feeling the effects of his discipline if he were here.
The thoughts were still screaming in her head as Valkyrie slammed her foot down on the instep of his own foot, slammed her elbow into his gut, and thrust her head back so that the back of her head would hopefully crash into his face and break his nose. She would make him regret this. He would not be allowed to do this again. It wouldn't matter how many portals he created, if he covered himself in them or cut her in half, or dismembered her with them.
He would pay.
With a snarl, she grabbed the arms that held her and threw him over her back so that he would land on the ground in front of her, slamming a foot down to his throat. Thankfully, she was not as strong as another disciple that could be named, so it wouldn't kill him, but playtime was over.
"You disgusting little maggot. Either fight, or stop wasting my time."

Of the various reactions that Geata was expecting, absolute rage was the one he was hoping for least. The stomping on his foot and the strike to his gut were fast and unexpected, but the attempted blow to his face was negated by a quick portal. The throw he simply couldn't stop, and the rough landing jarred him, keeping him from reacting in time to keep from getting his throat attacked. It was almost enough to make him wonder if the hug was worth it. He couldn't help but grin anyway, though, mimicking the metal mask he wore.
"After that," he sputtered out, "you really think I'm going to fight you?" He started to chuckle weakly. "Lady, you need to talk about your emotions. I'm available as both therapist and punching bag. But either way, I'm not gonna try and hurt you."

Why was he still talking?
Though satisfied that most of her blows landed, the man's continued cheer and even offer to be a listening ear infuriated and confounded her further. Valkyrie pressed down further on his neck, driving her foot down harder on his throat to emphasize her point as well as what she could do to him if she chose. She'd keep it up, too, even when the pressure would cut off his full air supply.
"Then we are done here," she spat. "Go find someone else for your little therapy sessions." She kept pushing until he would fall unconscious, fighting back if he tried anything stupid with his portals.
"If wasting my time is all your good for, then you're good for nothing."

Geata couldn't help but smile underneath his mask, even when his vision started to fade. He supposed he knew which option the lady in red chose. Luckily for her, it was probably the option he would be better at anyway. She said he was just wasting her time, but even he could see the confusion behind the anger in her eyes. The fact that she didn't kill him outright was a good sign, too, so far as he was concerned.
Even though his throat hurt, even though his lungs were screaming for air, he saw the night's actions as a sort of moral victory for him. As he lost consciousness, all he could think about was how much he was looking forward to his next encounter with the lady.
