“Thought you could steal that woman’s purse without anyone seeing you, huh?” Blue Jay said, his hands proudly on his hips and an extra ounce of importance in his voice. The thief in improper possession of the purse jumped like he’d just seen his death. He took several uneasy steps back, in sync with the super who walked slowly towards him, his eyes never leaving the hero who’d appeared suddenly in the dark alleyway.
“The city’s always watching.” Blue Jay said cheerfully.
The thief’s reign was over in an instant. Blue Jay unclipped his sheath from its holder, displaced so he stood inches from the man, and brought the blunted blade down on his head.
He caught the unconscious man as he slumped to the ground. After knocking him out in an unfair fight, it was the least he could do to set him down gently. Scooping up fallen purse, he set it carefully upright beside the man. Blue Jay took a step back and smiled at his work. His first job of the night had gone off, amazingly, without a hitch. He doubted that would last for long - the other parts of the city were watching too - but this evening Blue Jay had a goal. Come Pandemonium, Keeper, police, or hellfire from the sky, he was going to stop as much crime as he could tonight. His count was already at one.
He drew out his blade and, making a small upwards swipe, shot a small shockwave into the clear eventide sky. The police could take it from here.
Running footsteps alerted him to the arrival of another. The woman he’d seen robbed a couple minutes before turned the corner, a can of mace readied. Blue Jay shot her a proud thumbs-up. A moment later, he was gone.
Running and teleporting from rooftop to rooftop, scanning the ground for any mishappenings, Blue Jay whistled the tune to a song he’s recently heard on the radio and decided he liked. The bank robbery of the previous day was forced to the back of his mind. The city was lively this weekend evening, and the night was still young; he was sure there’d be no shortage of small jobs for him to take care of and no small amount of bored supers he was pretty certain he was going to attract at some point. Bring it on; he’d love a little competition.

Civil security mission, that’s what HaLOS was given after the Highway fiasco as punishment for property damage. In its defense, it did warn the civilians on the highway to stay out of its way or lethal force will be used. Personally, HaLOS doesn’t view this as a punishment anyway; it’s been working on upgrading its robotic form in order to perform its mission more efficient, and what better way to test the upgrade out by hunting down small time crook in the heart of downtown Emerald City.
For a central area of the rumored Bulwark headquarter, this place sure attracted crimes like moth toward the burning flame. The robotic unit had performed its functionality pretty well so far: moving in an almost lightning speed to apprehended the target, and dance around any crooks with weapon in their hand, only to be surprise when their bullet bounced off its metal exoskeleton armor like rubber. So far, HaLOS didn’t have a chance to execute its combat program via lethal option, so at the very least that would make the Keeper’s happy about this: no further property damages, and no civilian causalities.
After awhile of high-jacking in the police’s frequency, HaLOS caught a police report of a super sighting near its vicinity. The super is described as a boy carrying a sword; it doesn’t take long for HaLOS to conclude the super to be Blue Jay:
“Accessing JAY_file.dtr: Blue Jay, the boy super carrying sword as his primary weapon, renegade member of the Bulwark, and known ally to the Pandaemonium. Security risk for civilians: 95%. Target must be neutralized; switching to combat mode against super, analyzing data from security camera to locate target.”
After a short moment scanning the police frequency and security cameras around the downtown area, HaLOS managed to locate the proximity position of where Blue Jay might be. With his location pin-pointed down, HaLOS quickly hope around the rooftop of the building and rushing toward the scene before any other super might get there to either aid the target or make matter more complicated. -- OPPOSING: a small misunderstanding goes a long way in this situation.

Lobisomem stewed on top of a building that they laid on, tail cracking against the roof they rested on fretfully. They still remembered the bank robbery yesterday, the situation rarely left their mind. They hadn't even eaten today, their appetite had left them that day. Their ribs stuck jaggedly out, but they didn't even notice.
Blue Jay helped me out every time! Why would he do such a thing! They had thought they were...allies, albeit strange ones.
They tried to shake these thought, no, they needed no allies, not even friends! They were the horrible beast that brought terror every night!
Almost on cue, a voice drifted up to their ears, Blue Jay.
You've got to be kidding me.
He was stopping a criminal, how nice. They craned their neck down, watching grumplily. Suddenly, they froze as a robotic voice echoed out, talking about eliminating Blue Jay.
The thought of protecting Blue Jay sprang to mind, until new ideas warred in their head. They could beat up Blue Jay, watch this unfold, or even run away.
Their paws moved before they could think, and they were between the robot and Blue Jay, protecting Blue Jay!
Stupid softie.
Still, they tilted their head and uncovered their fangs at him, they demanded an explanation after this!
Supporting: You and I are going to talk about this later, boy!

Scouting: it felt like it was all Unhallow was doing lately. Supposedly, a few of these buildings had some secret doors that lead to secret rooms and some people wanted to know where these rooms were, and possibly what was going on in them. It didn't take a genius to guess that it probably wasn't anything good, but the exact nature of that nothing good was up in the air. Unhallow had been sticking to back alleys, not only because there were less people there to worry about, but because they figured there would be more likely to be shady stuff in these areas. Sadly, they haven't been having much luck finding much of anything. They found one room disconnected from the rest, but it was completely empty. Unhallow couldn't move very quickly through the city without worrying about what their power might do to it, so it was going to take some time to cover any amount of ground. This was tedious.
Something entered their range that caught their surprise though. There was a man, running through the alleys clearly in a panic. There didn't appear to be anyone chasing him yet, but Unhallow's ability to see was limited. That was the downside of being intentionally blind to make it easier to focus on their power: anything outside of their power's range might as well be invisible. The man quickly drew closer to where Unhallow was, and Unhallow was momentarily concerned. With the way he was running it seemed likely that he would eventually bump into them. That would be bad. Unhallow's thoughts were distracted by the entry of what was presumably chasing this person. Bulwark member Blue Jay. Unhallow wasn't particularly surprised, granted they were surprised the buildings seemed to be in tact. The man must be unpowered, it was the only logical explanation. When Unhallow heard that he might have connections to Pandaemonium, they weren't surprised. The Bulwark and Pandaemonium were two sides of the same coin: both destructive, both short sighted, both had little interest in actually protecting the city. They often wondered why the leader hated one but not the other.
The man continued running closer, and Unhallow let out a slightly panicked warning, "Don't come over he--"
Sadly, they were a bit too slow. The man rushed past Unhallow, pushing them out of the way. They could feel their power ravage the poor man's body, but fortunately they weren't that close for too long. Some of the outer layer of skin would probably be dead, leaving a bit of a rash, and he'd probably be feeling a bit anemic, but he should be able to continue running. It wouldn't be long before the perpetrator in all this showed up. Unhallow tried to regain their composure, standing up straight right in the middle of the alley. Blue Jay was there that night, he would know what their power was capable of and that fighting in such close quarters was probably not a good idea.

Velocity sat on a rooftop, bored as all hell, you'd think being a super would lend itself to a life of excitement, but apparently not, because Velocity was literally lying on a rooftop in costume. "I'm so bored..." He muttered to himself, getting up and stretching. He bent his neck first to the left, then to the right, and several cracks were heard each time. After this, he bent back, and his back popped several times. He shrugged to himself and figured that a little bit of rooftop running might be fun, so after cracking each of his knuckles, Velocity bent his legs, and suddenly disappeared from the first rooftop, reappearing on top of one directly beside it.
Velocity absentmindedly dashed from rooftop to rooftop, lazily scanning his surroundings. Jewelry store... cafe... tattoo parlor... and yet nothing of interest was happening, talk about boring. Velocity shook his head and kept dashing, from rooftop, to rooftop, to rooftop. The night was young, so Velocity might still very well encounter something... He snapped with his left hand, then his right hand, repeating the process. The was a habit he had developed when he was younger... and he had never quite shaken it off.
Eventually, Velocity's perseverance rewarded him, he found a group of three people-- supers, to be exact, and from their body language, it looked as though they were not all on the same side. The best part? They were all only one rooftop from where Velocity currently was. Before jumping onto the rooftop blindly, Velocity quickly scanned the body language of the group, and it seemed as though the boy in the blue costume and the werewolf... thing were being confronted by a robot... thing? Things never got old when it came to supers. As far as Velocity could remember, and he could remember, the boy in blue was known as Blue Jay, and was a known member of the Bulwark. The wolf... thing on the other hand, was known as Lobisomem, and was currently unaligned, but if he was supporting Blue Jay, that meant he was Velocity's ally... probably.
So with a quick dash, Velocity was beside Lobisomem and Blue Jay, he was silent, but it was clear that he intended to support the two with whatever it was that was going on.

SUPPORTING: Not entirely sure what's going on here... but I'm bored, so I'm gonna help!

The first thing Blue Jay did when he saw the robot from yesterday coming after him with cold, industrious fury: he sheathed his sword, spun around, and ran. Two other supers had converged on the rooftop, ones he would’ve recognized had he taken a moment to be at all aware of his surroundings, but the moment they made their arrival, Blue Jay made his departure. It was not his goal, after all, to win a fist fight with a metallic titan; it was to knock out this fellow who had thought it was a good idea to rob an ATM. He was grinning almost madly as he displaced from the rooftop to the sidewalk beside the man. Having a robot of destruction on your tail certainly makes things more exciting (even if he had no idea why the super was bothering with him. Rematch for yesterday, perhaps?).
A swift sheath to the head proved yet again enough to knock the guy out, but as Blue Jay paused to catch the fellow and set him down gently, he felt the odd twinge of a familiar power. It was of no surprise to him to turn around and see the black-clad super, no more than a couple yards away. What they were doing here was also a mystery to him but, again, he didn’t really care. He wasn’t here to pick a fight with a keeper (and, as far as he could tell, they seemed to just be minding their own business).
Blue Jay stood up straight and turned to face Unhallow. “Two!” He said, holding out an equal amount of fingers. Without further explanation, he vanished from the alleyway, reappearing a moment later on the rooftop of the building at the far end.
He paused only for a moment to scan the streets for any other signs of trouble. The first rooftop: none. He teleported to the next, and again found a generally peaceful and law-abiding surrounding (ignoring the oncoming supers). So he went for several blocks, until, at last, he found a suitable next target.
The police were on it today; several sirened cars raced past in the direction he’d just come from, thankfully oblivious to the quickly-moving super a couple stories up. One woman on the street below saw in this distraction an opportunity - and attempted to pick a very expensive looking watch off her fellow unsuspecting pedestrian.

Blue Jay is faster than he looks, hopping from one rooftop to the next with his power. Despite that, HaLOS’ new upgrade had managed to come in handy to catching up with him. It was rather unfortunate that other supers appear in its way; one of them it recognized as the same wolf-dragon hybrid from that highway, while the other is unknown. Analyzing any known data, HaLOS can only come up with a name, Velocity, a member of the Bulwark as well. Is he here to aid Blue Jay? Are these two helping him?
Either way, Blue Jay took the opportunity to run away, leaving HaLOS to deal with these two it seems. Calculating the odd of winning on a two vs. one: 60%; reinforcement would increase chances of apprehending Blue Jay, searching for any Keeper’s agent nearby the vicinity…
Reinforcement found: Unhallow’s present located nearby, possibly close to Blue Jay’s position. At the very least, HaLOS had someone keeping an eye on that running super criminal. HaLOS begin to tap into Unhallow's communication frequency in order to communicate with them:
"Unhallow, this is HaLOS, currently nearby to your vicinity; requesting aid for this unit's mission: Blue Jay is on the run, possibility of causing damage is high. Request for additional eyes to follow and observe Blue Jay's current location, keeping close contact with this unit until it arrive at the scene."
In the mean time, HaLOS need to deal with these two quickly if it is to catch up to Blue Jay.

Lobisomem twitched their ears as more people arrived, yeah, yeah, this was going great.
They gaped as Blue Jay darted off, trying to catch more villains! Did he not see what predicament he was in thanks to this robot and Keeper!?
Whatever!
They hopped to the top of a rooftop and roared, hopefully getting everyone's attention.

As always, being vaguely threatening didn't work. Granted, Unhallow didn't like to make the first move, so there was little they could do besides be vaguely threatening. It was important to at least give the other person the opportunity to retreat in their mind. At first, it looked like the rogue super might have been retreating, but when it became clear he was rapidly approaching the civilian that ran past Unhallow just moments ago, it was clear that wasn't what was going on. Blue Jay was just going around Unhallow to avoid the worst of their power. The person he was chasing was swiftly dispatched, as was expected giving it was a completely unfair fight between an unpowered person and a super. Unhallow frowned. While they were sure there was some kind of reason for all this, it seemed rather mean. When he spoke, Unhallow blinked once as they connected the pieces together. That must have been the number of people he had assaulted so far, and he was talking about it like he was proud. Seriously, what was wrong with some people?
Shortly after, they received a call, confirming some of their suspicions. There was definitely something going on with Blue Jay. Unhallow knew next to nothing about HaLOS, beyond the fact that the machine existed and did the occasional bit of field work. The fact that HaLOS was chasing him didn't leave much room for interpretation, especially given the machine was concerned that he may cause large amounts of damage. Again.
"Understood. However, I find it unlikely that I'll be able to keep up with him. I am not known for moving quickly."
Most Keepers knew how their power worked. They had to, working with Unhallow without knowing could be legitimately dangerous. Even if Unhallow could keep up on foot, it would be a terrible idea to try to do so. It seemed counter productive to try to stop another super from destroying the area by destroying the area. Sadly, Blue Jay moved so quickly that he left Unhallow's sensory range for awhile. The fact that he was hunting people meant he would be taking odd routes and stopping for brief periods of time, so they were able to find him again, but Unhallow wasn't sure how long they could keep something like this up.

This was all rather intimidating... And the atmosphere was very tense, so much so that no one was actually talking at all... the only thing that could be heard was the echo of Blue Jay's "Two!" as he announced the supposed number of criminals he had taken down. Velocity would help Blue Jay with his crime-beating spree, but the two other Supers, all Velocity knew about them was that they were Keepers, and they didn't seem particularly friendly. Though none of them were attacking, so Velocity wasn't exactly sure if they intended to attack or not... Regardless, he had his arms poised in an offensive stance under his cloak. Alright... Velocity thought to himself, What are we gonna do here...? I could attack the Keepers, or I could play it safe and run. What to do... He wasn't left with much time to think, because Lobisomem let out a roar, probably hoping to draw everyone's attention. Velocity withdrew a hand from his cloak and waved slowly at Lobisomem. Why didn't they just yell? Perhaps the wolf thing was unable to talk in it's current form?

Before Unhallow could do too much damage, their intended target was promptly hit by an incoming car and was flung outside of their sensory range. Unhallow immediately stopped, partially because they couldn't do anything to Blue Jay anymore, but partially because they were actually a little concerned about him. It felt weird given they were just about to take out his legs, but Unhallow felt like their power was a bit more...humane in that regard. At the very least it was more temporary. They were pretty sure they felt some unpleasant cracking from the impact.
"Blue Jay was just hit by a car," Unhallow relayed to HaLOS. "I'll go investigate."
The entire situation just seemed so absurd that Unhallow still wasn't quite sure what just happened. Unhallow started walking forward at a brisk pace. Not at a pace that that required them to exert themselves too much though. One of the other potential enemies moved in closer, but appeared to be content to just dance around Unhallow. That was fine, especially if he had the sense to not get any closer. Given he was closer to the edges of Unhallow's range before, and now he was significantly closer, he might be able to feel what getting closer to the epicenter of Unhallow's power did. Unhallow's power was always active, and would always slowly kill or destroy everything around them. There was nothing they could do about it. The closer the thing was, the faster it'd start to die. Fortunately, the power worked slowly enough that Unhallow doubted he'd be feeling anything more than light headaches, muscle aches, or fatigue given how close he was and how long he'd been there. With any luck, that would at least be enough of a sign that he shouldn't get any closer.
"I found him," they relayed back to HaLOS once Blue Jay entered their sensory range again. "He appears to be...mostly fine. He's getting up. However, he left my range before I could try to slow him down, I'm sorry."

HaLOS listened to Unhallow’s report while dodging the attack attempt from Lobisomen. It’s seems that Unhallow managed to got Blue Jay’s position, but because they simply refuse to go anywhere in a faster speed than a walk, they might not be able to catch up with him. The chance of Blue Jay’s getting away increased when Velocity left the scene, possibly to help his Bulwark ally dealing with Unhallow. After inputting the fighting pattern of Lobisomen, their threat value just decrease down to 20%, so HaLOS need to change its strategy if was to catch up with Blue Jay.
“Irrelevant fact, Unhallow,” it replied to them, “continue to maintain Blue Jay’s position within your sensory field. Warning, incoming threat from another Bulwark, your risk of fighting had increase to 50%, prepare for hostile action. This unit will be in position to possibly catching up with Blue Jay soon.”
It then turned its attention to Lobisomen, who barely able to hit it with its bestial attack. The beast doesn’t seem to be able to communicate intelligently, possible beast-form warp their brain into a more primitive state. Well, HaLOS can at least talk to it like a human talking to their pet:
“Cease your involvement in aiding Blue Jay escape immediately or you will be forced to withdraw for interfering with this unit’s mission.”

Blue Jay was seeing stars as he attempted with minimal success to steady himself. The civilians around him were wearing various expressions of shock; they’d seen the police cars go by, perhaps even gotten a news alert of supers battling in their vicinity, but they’d been expecting one to be suddenly hit by a car about as much as Blue Jay had. While teleporting none the less. He’d heard that could happen, but this was the first time it actually had.
He made a mental note to not let it ever happen again.
Blue Jay stumbled out of the limelight of the sidewalk and into the nearest alleyway. His posture was aggravated and he shot a look of the same emotion at the one person who tried to approach him. Not because he was actually angry - if anything, he was more confused - but because a fight was still headed towards him (on rocket jets, if he was remembering the run-in with the robot on the highway correctly) and, as always, he didn’t want to get any civilians dragged into it. The less they attempted to interact with him the better.
Blue Jay held the hilt of his blade tightly. He would be prepared to fight, or block an attack as was more likely, at any moment. Yet something about it felt… off. The sword felt odd in his hands, almost as though it was unbalanced. More balanced than the one he used in his swordplay class, but it lacked the normality, for lack of a better word, that he was used to. Usually he didn’t have to even think about it; how it balanced in his hand or how its weight moved in relationship to him, but now he was keenly aware of it. It felt to him almost awkward.
Blue Jay elected to just add that to the weirdness of the current situation and move on.
Perhaps if he knew he had allies in the vicinity he would’ve stayed and fought, but as far as he was aware, he was facing two enemies on his own. Math said the odds were not at all in his favor.
The good news was he saw neither Unhallow or the robot and his burning chest (probably destined to be bruised in the morning) and scratched up leg didn’t hurt so much that he wasn’t mobile. Going after more crooks was pretty out of the picture now, but getting away from a robot and a keeper shouldn’t be that hard. Injured or not, he could still teleport.
