Name: Constantine “Kasty” Doherty
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Occupation: Community College student, still deciding on a major.
Face Claim: N/A
Appearance: 5 foot 5, somewhere between medium to small build, brown hair, brown eyes, commonly seen in t-shirts and jeans; Kasty looks like he’s a middle class kid that could’ve been picked up from just about anywhere in the country. He hardly stands out at all - the only remotely unusual physical quirks of his are the aura of contentedness that he seems to always have about him, and the fact that his voice occasionally cracks when he speaks loudly. He does like pants with patterns on them, however. It’s the closest thing to what he can really call “his style”. Kasty is left-handed.
(Note: Kasty’s appearance - and personality - is very likely to change later on. I’ll keep track of this somewhere, probably his plotter.)
Skills:
Math: In highschool, Kasty had C’s sprinkled with a B when he got a nice teacher, save for in one subject. For whatever reason, math has always come easily to him. He not only picks up the concepts in a short amount of time, but can perform the actual solving quickly . Kasty can multiply multiple-digit numbers in his head, and has knowledge up to calculus that he can perform on paper with good time and accuracy.
Memorization (of details): Most people are pretty good at remembering generalities but are tripped up on the details. The exact opposite is the case for Kasty - specific facts; dates, names, numbers, math formulas, stick in his head like the lyrics of the latest pop tune. If he writes it down, it’s cemented in his memory. For instance, if asked about a book he read, he could tell you what the main character was wearing in a certain chapter, but would be unlikely to remember what the character was actually doing. He can sometimes connect the dots between what details he knows to arrive at what the forgotten fact is, but he has to think about it. Kasty knows a lot of: plant names, dates and figures in history, names of anyone he’s met or heard about previously, and food prices at chain restaurants.
Risk Management: When he wants to be, Kasty is actually pretty good at weighing what courses of action have the highest yield of success to what will reap the greatest reward. The problem is he has to actually put some thought into it, and when in the moment, thinking things through is the last thing on his mind. Kasty is fairly good at strategizing, and it’s mostly because of this skill. That said, he’s good at it, not great at it, and those who focus on strategies will probably find a higher return on their plans than he does his. His plans tend to involve tilting numbers in his favor rather than being tricky.
Observation: Also when he wants to be, Kasty is very tuned to his surroundings. He’s not quite good enough that he can listen to two conversations at once, but he will pick up on many small details in a short amount of time. He’s better with his eyes than his other senses, and so is much more likely to pick up on, say, a strange engraving than a distant conversation or a certain smell in the air.
Drawing - specifically, map making: With a steady hand, a keen eye, and mind full of details and math, Kasty is pretty good at cartography. It’s become a hobby for him; the large-sized sketchbook in his computer bag is filled with maps of the places he frequents, and are as accurate as he can know and can make them. Once he draws a place, he can recall it and create another map that, while more general than the original, is trustworthy enough to get someone around with. It takes him a good chunk of time and a lot of scouting in order to create that first map, however.
Personality:
With his skills, one might come to the conclusion that Kasty is an intellectual fellow; the wise thinker who plots his actions smartly and carefully. This is the person he could be if he wasn’t so keen to always rush into life. When decision making, Kasty has a tendency to act on his first impulse, even if that course of action isn’t necessarily a good one. The argument in his mind is that he can take on anything the world throws at him, making it up as he goes, so bring it on, reality. Having grown up in a fairly easy and sheltered life, he hasn’t yet realized the full extent of what can actually be thrown. This light-hearted approach can make him seem naive (which is true) and trifle (which is false). Kasty actually cares a good bit for everything he does, and will put his all into just about everything he does. He just takes maters cheerfully and might ignore the scope of the issue.
When stress comes into the picture, Kasty becomes even more single-minded. He’s the type to easily get overwhelmed and flustered. He hates the feeling so acts to resolve the source as quickly as possible (and thus he gets his impulsiveness). The equation is simple; more pressure he’s under, the more rash he becomes. While normally striving to be a good team player, there are points when all outward communication stops and he begins to act completely on his own. He’s working on gaining a clearer mind, but it’s a daunting task. He’s not entirely sure he wants to do away with his impulsive self either. That state of mind wears on him, yes, but it's efficient, easy, and greatly feeds his inner adrenaline junkie.
Kasty does not like being bossed around. Instructed to as to work as a team, sure, but he has a strong need to be able to make his own decisions. Following orders is fairly low on his priority list (getting the job done is far higher), and if he disagrees with a direction, he won’t do it. He likes to do things his own way, but “his own way” is pretty by the books, so it’s more of a pride thing than a practical thing. He also had what most would consider a “good moral character”, and so rarely clashes with common authorities.
At the moment, Kasty is just sort of living life as it comes. He hasn’t much for short term plans (maybe get a dog), and nothing for long-term goals, and he’s pretty content with that. This view is very reflective in his disposition; he is happy more often than not, and he seems to radiate energy like the sun. Kasty is the sort of guy to live in the moment and to enjoy the present to its fullest extent.
Other: Kasty is very easily impressed, but is also quite headstrong when it comes to his own skills.
He likes to always have something to think about. Without something, he grows easily bored. When there’s nothing in his current life to occupy his mind, he delves into his stock of audio history books.
Kasty sucks at lying. If there’s something he doesn’t want to talk about, he changes the subject as quickly as possible because he knows he can be read like a book.
Kasty thinks “Constantine” is way too serious and formal for him, so he insists on going by his nickname.
Current life: Kasty lives in a boarding house run by his aunt and pays his rent by helping with dinner every third night and going grocery shopping every friday. He attends one morning class and two evening classes at the local community college.
