“He won't,” Canary agreed quietly. She remembered the first conversation she'd had with their friend, about how it took obstacles to grow strong and learn from. How they had both learned from having next to nothing, and they were glad of who it had made them. If they had come this far, if they had fough a dragon on top of it and landed elsewhere while it lay dead, then he would live. He had to.
The healer's voice was distracted and distant as she advised them to focus on themselves, and she had to agree. Whatever they thought to do for Alex, it wasn't going to be enough, especially with the hospitals filling up. Her gaze went back to her friend, frown increasing as she took in just how much damage had to be there beneath all that blood. Logially, he shouldn't be breathing. Nothing should be left, but here he was. Here they all were.
She looked over when Limen started talking again, the girl's expression a semi-forced mask. She cared, Canary could tell, and she wasn't the one that the other girl wanted to help most. She knew that feeling, too.
“No, let's get this done. He needs her help more than I do.” She shook her head and looked down at her leg with a heavy sigh. If the healer had time to look at it later, she would ask, but who knew how long that would take. Better to set it now and at least have that much done, regardless.
She sucked in a breath as she leaned in to catch the wipes, but said nothing of it. Instead, she focused on cleaning up the injuries she could, mentally lamenting that she'd have to fix up the suit she wore even more as she cleaned out her wounds. A few times, she had to stop to make sure the world would stop spinning so she could do even that in peace, especially since the nausea was beginning to get worse and a headache was making itself at home. What they would use to brace the leg, she wasn't sure, but they'd figure something out.
