Carlos chuckled at Sam's not quite subtle accusation. He supposed he likely was being fairly transparent, but it wasn't as though he didn't have reason to suspect her either. It was fine, though. He knew a way to explain it away easily without confirming or denying anything.
"Well," he started, "I've funded a few different things for various Bulwark branches. Besides supers just saving my life during dragon attacks, I've also had to work with them a little bit to know what to purchase for them. I'd like to believe that I've made friends with a few of them, here and there."
Her views on what she would do with powers, while admittedly selfish, were understandable. It wasn't as though many chose to be a super. It made sense that but everyone would want to be saddled with the responsibility of trying to make things better. Carlos really couldn't blame her for thinking that way. As long as people didn't go out of their way to make things worse for others, he wasn't going to judge.
