“What?” Blue Jay looked at the women like she’d just slapped him and he was more than moderately taken off-guard and offended about the whole ordeal. It’d been two slaps, actually; first, that she was a mind reader. An explosive-prone cyborg mind reading terminator. Who’s lived through 35 years of dragon slaying and got back to it after being bitten in half by a dragon. It was finally settling into place who exactly he was talking with; the one way telepath with strange advice on Aurora, dubbed the Scary Lady by the very person the second slap was based around. This was round two of weird questions about his friends that put a weird feeling in his gut, like she was trying to sell him something and that something was death.
“How the hell should I know?” He sputtered in lacking any answer, let alone the want to give her one even if he did.
How would Geata feel if he accomplished his goal? Accomplished, probably. He didn’t know; she was the mind reader here. He had even less of an idea why people would try to hide information like that from the people trying to fight the dragons and, you know, save lives. Knowing the government, it was probably something like ‘dragons are secretly kind beings who want to be friends, we just keep aggravating them and making them go on murderous rampages for science or profit or some other bullshit like that but if we tell the supers risking their lives they’re going to seriously turn on us so we keep it hush hush’. Or dragons were some secret government laboratory creation that keeps going horribly wrong and they keep making supers’ problems. It seemed like some pretty useful information to have if he or his friends were going to continue fighting dragons, so it made sense to try to figure it out. Geata seemed a good person for the job. He imagined whatever it was, it would be pretty surprising, but finding out you’ve got powers for the first time is pretty surprising too. He was sure Geata’s heart could take it.
Word that Geata was not in a good emotional state right now was bigger news; he'd been worried after the last... loud conversation with Aurora, and Scary Lady or not, this was enough evidence to investigate further. However, the more pressing mystery of why she was even posing these questions to him, of all people, out in the middle of a forested area, in the middle of the night, after she’d blown up houses remained.
“Look, lady, what do you want?” He asked, shifting his stance upwards again, though there wasn’t anything behind it anymore, and meaning both why she was killing people and asking weird questions about his friends, but he’d be happy if he got an answer to either.

"Unhallow," Seraphim continued ignoring his question for now, "has been with The Keepers for almost a year now and it's obvious. She doesn't think about much else anymore. They've convinced her that she's a blight on the world and has to do things to make up for it. They've eroded at her ability to think critically and independently that having to do so is very distressing. It'll likely take years of therapy to undo everything that's been done to her. Further, there have been efforts made by some Keepers to eliminate, or at least erode, her non-violent tendencies. Do you see the inevitable consequence of all this?"
His cynicism about the government was unfortunate, but not uncommon. His feelings on her were about the same. As much as she wanted to fix it, there was little she could do. It was too difficult to emote properly or fake the tone she wanted to convey. Seraphim considered asking the person that built her body about fixing that, but it never seemed important until now and didn't seem worth the risks involved. Perhaps she should reconsider. It would make missions in places like this a lot more straightforward. For now, she was going to have to rely on others, even if they didn't like her.
"All of these people are on potentially dangerous paths of varying degrees of danger. I want to direct them to less destructive paths. Aurora Disicio is likely to destroy herself if she continues as she is. I'm not sure where Geata's current path will take him, but the amount of stress he's under isn't healthy. The people that Unhallow has surrounded herself with are gradually turning her into something she's not, something she would have been horrified by this time last year. These people are all in need of kindness, but given how I am, I cannot help them. You consider them your friends right? I believe you can help them."

She wasn’t answering his question. Instead, she brought up yet another person he considered a friend. Blue Jay stiffened further. His hands felt clammy on the hilt of the sword, and trying to make small adjustments to fix it wavered the blade. The doomsday reports about his friends were not helping. Premonitions he saw in Aurora, and could easily see in Geata at that; and one that was extremely worrying for Unhallow. He didn’t want any of that to happen and he saw it coming. One part of him, the bit that affirmed it was better to be over cautious than be blindsided by the future, said he should believe her. It had that she was a mind reader and this was the wellbeing of his friends as points, but the rest of him was still hesitant.
“And why should I trust a word you’re saying?” He said through his teeth. The last time someone tried something like this, she tried to convince him he had to kill Aurora. In the last couple of nights, this women had killed who knows how many people for some yet given benign reason. He… agreed with what she was saying, and he was very worried about his friends, but those were both reasons why he needed to be suspicious. This was not something he would let himself be manipulated on.

"Have I told you anything you didn't already know? Or at least had suspicions of?" It was a rhetorical question, she didn't bother waiting for an answer. "All I did was tell you that a problem exists. I haven't told you how to go about solving it, I doubt my advice would be that effective." She paused. "Solving this problem is beyond my abilities, so I need help. Can you imagine me trying to have a normal conversation with any of them? You are in a much better position to be able to help them; to be able to guide them towards a path that will make them happier and less destructive. Unhallow being the only exception, but I don't think anyone is in a good position to genuinely help her." She paused again. "If you need more information, or additional help, I'm willing to provide it. Otherwise, I'll stay out of your way. Please help your friends, they need you."
The police had finally shown up and found the trail of burnt grass left behind. It was only a matter of time before their location was discovered, especially if Blue Jay continued to insist on being so loud. Seraphim retrieved her arm turned to the side, making sure her face was still visible and she was still looking in his general direction, and started to walk away from where the police were. Her pace was brisk, but not one that would be difficult to keep up with.
"We shouldn't stay here. You can follow me if you have more to ask."

It was true; everything she said fit what he was seeing too well. If he wasn’t already sure, her explanation fit the signs and aligned with what the nagging voice in the back of his head kept trying to tell him. But that didn’t change the fact that a person who’d just blown up three houses, probably killed several people, and was of highly questionable morals was telling him to do something. It may sound like a perfectly innocent and even good-natured request, but what if she was trying to trick him? She could be telling him to do so with something to gain and him something to lose was too high and he knew he wouldn’t be able to tell until she pulled the rug out from under him. The chances of insidious intent were too high.
He didn’t want her help with all the invisibly attached strings and responded to it with only a grunt. Questions gave her more opportunities to manipulate him, so if she was done, he all he had left was his own claim to stake. He watched her closely as she moved, out of habit rather than the strike he knew wasn’t going to come. Neither of them were going to initiate a fight, and so he had no reason to maintain his tense pose. Relaxing, he lowered and then sheathed his sword.
“Look, just stop killing people, okay?” He sighed. But he couldn’t back it up with ‘or I’ll be there to stop you’.She could be anywhere on the island at any time of night; trying to find her before she set off her bombs would be near impossible by himself, but, “Or I’ll tell my friends you’re doing this and get their help to stop you.”
Numbers alone would be helpful, but Carl, Aurora, or Geata might have other ideas of how to handle the situation. They’d find a way.
He didn’t have time to argue with her, either. The words of Aurora’s assassination still echoed in his mind. As strong as his doubt of anything the woman said was, worry far outweighed it. He was ansty. He had to find her and make sure she was alright. Just in case.
Blue Jay made no move to follow her, but nor did he to depart his own way yet either. Faint sounds could be heard in the forest and people were sure to be on their trail, but police couldn’t keep up with him any more even if they did spot him. He would wait to confirm she was indeed leaving before he do so himself.

Seraphim wished she could do more. Even if he was one of the people in the best position to handle a lot of the problems the city had, that wasn't saying much. He would do his best, she had no doubt about that. However, she doubted he was fully prepared for the undertaking. It was a difficult situation, more difficult than he thought it was even. It was a lot to ask of one person, but she was trying to assist in other ways and there was little else she could do right now. Anymore talking would be pointless right now, and there was no way she could help directly. Hopefully if the task proved to large or complicated he would seek the help he needed. She paused, momentarily stopping to look up at the moon.
"That would be ideal. It'd be nice to retire."
She doubted he'd understand the meaning, but it seemed like a nice note to end on. Maybe he'd understand it later. Regardless, it was time to go. Seraphim moved forward, quickly turning her walk into a run. It was faster than when he was pursuing her before, but without any kind of super speed she could only go so fast. At this pace, it wouldn't take long for her to get off the island.
