Was it just her, or did he look angry? He looked angry. And kinda terrifying, the way he spoke and glared at her. She felt like she was being chased by a hungry lion, or in this case, a pissed off hero king. It was probably for the best she didn’t let him catch up with her.
“And I guess it’s my fault if I can’t pierce it.” Limen laughed as she ran. “Got it, got it. If you want to push the blame of your strength off on me, I’ll gladly take it.”
The problem was, he was catching up with her. Limen was fast, but so was Gilgamesh and he didn’t have a side injury. She didn’t dare turn towards the stage lest she give him a hypotenuse with which to cut her off. She was almost to the far wall by the time he caught up with her, and she was quickly running out of ground.
Her peripheral caught the kick. She dropped out of her run, killing her momentum as she ducked down and his leg flew over her head. He was going to follow it up with something - she could tell that much of his fighting style already - and she had to hurry out of there if she didn’t want to get hit by it. The problem was, she seriously doubted she’d be able to get passed him down towards the stage. That left her with the direction she came, up the seats, or-
Or up. Limen glanced at the wall to her right. The vertical surface was littered with various gilded handholds. They were spaced out, but not too spaced out for her.
Limen made to leap from her low crouch, propelling herself high enough to take hold of the thin carved wood trim that circled the wall. The ledge itself was wide enough only for the tips of her fingers, but with it she would be able to pull herself up and get a foothold for her to jump up to the wall-mounted lights.
“So I gotta ask, Gil; what made you join Pandaemonium?” She called as she climbed. "Just seems like an odd choice for someone like you."

Whether or not she would gladly take it was beyond the point. She was going to take it unless she managed to pull the strength and skill out of her ass to save herself. Because while she might feel this was a fun little game, he didn't play around with matters like this. Someone wanted him dead, someone had tried to hire her for that job. And it didn't matter if she intended to do it or not. He had a message to send, and that was that they would need to try harder than this to take him out. Nothing less would satisfy him, or his Master.
She was fast, he had to give her that at least. Respect where it was due, but so was he. And he wasn't going to let his prey slip through his fingers. The hunter had become the hunted. And like a rat she was getting cornered. A desperate escape attempt upward? Cute, clever, and quaint. Without thinking he reacted, leaping up from his landing for her, right arm outstretched with the intent to grab onto her leg.
Should he manage to grab her he would yank downward with all of his strength to try and rip her off of the wall and send her slamming into one of the chairs head first. While keeping his hand gripped around her leg of course. She seemed to like weapon fighting, so perhaps it was time for the weapon master to experience the joys of becoming the weapon. Like say a club.

Limen did not get an answer to her question. Instead, she got a startling yank on her leg. Letting out a yelp to match her surprise, she only had time to brace herself, wrapping her arms behind her head, before her skull met with a chair.
But she didn’t need extra time to make her counter. Gilgamesh had grabbed her, and not even just her clothing, as she was wearing shorts. Apparently he didn’t know the rumors. As soon as her fingers overlapped with each other behind her head, electricity began to flow through her body. It’s destination, Gilgamesh. If the last shock was painful, at least it had been over in a moment - as long as he was in contact with her, he would be hit with a current just as powerful as the one sent through the arrow. If he didn’t let go immediately, the electricity would attempt to exit his body, leaving its parting gift of large burns.
Limen lay motionless for several beats, staring at the painted ceiling above. Little black dots floated in her vision. She’d better get up, she told herself; come up with a way to get out of this. Was she strong enough to wrestle out of his grip? Probably not, judging by his strength. Perhaps her next best move was to wait for his.

The pain seared through his body as he clenched his teeth. He had been prepared for this, but the pain was still something that refused to be ignored. However whether it was through superior fortitude or sheer willpower he did not let go of her reflexively, even as his flesh began to sear as the current raced through his body, igniting every pain sensor that existed inside of him. Despite his best efforts he couldn't suppress the pained sound that managed to escape his clenched teeth as he roared with fury. His muscles tightening as they convulsed bringing her up as he slammed her headfirst for the wall that she had just moments ago tried to climb before letting go of her.
A beat would pass, and then another as he composed himself, his mind fighting to keep control of his muscles and remain in control. Thankful for years of inhuman training, the hellish torturous existence his Master had put him through. Every test and trial that allowed him to remain as he was. Standing and willing and able to fight until the moment his heart gave it's final beat. He'd take a slow step toward Limen, whether or not she was standing when he finally spoke.
"Someone like me? By all means, tell me who I am."
That predatory smile returned, despite all of the pain, the risk that came with fighting any of these self proclaimed supers. He lived for moments like these. With life and limb on the line. Where any moment could be his last. Or theirs. Nothing made you feel more alive than the possibility of death.
"I joined for you. For this moment right here. On this stage."

Limen braced as Gilgamesh swung her again. She’d been expecting it, and because of it was able to twist her body so the weight of the blow was spread along her side and her forearm protected her head. She fell on her back as he let go of her leg, letting out a gasp as air left her lungs. She took a shuttering breath in, feeling the pain now in both sides and her head of his collective blows. Then, exhaling, she pushed this pain aside. There was still a fight to be had. She couldn’t be- wasn’t out yet.
With a quiet grunt, Limen jumped up to her feet (steadying herself with one step). She took several light steps back to match Gilgamesh’s single one forward, her arms wide out beside her.
“Who are you?” She hummed, the pain in her face replaced with a jovial smile at the question. “Isn’t that the question? You know, I’ve been wondering that about you, Gil.” As she spoke, she trotted backwards. Any signs of hostility in her movements were gone. If he attempted attacks against her, she would put her effort entirely into dodging, even if opportunities for counters presented themselves. “This may be my first time meeting you, but I’ve heard stories. A hooded man in a dark cape, taking out thugs throughout the docks. The fear of the night of those up to no good - the reason why certain gangs’ve stopped coming to the horde. Your name is spoken with more fear than even some of the big name Bulwarks, because you, Gilgamesh, are a person who actually gets stuff done. Efficiently. Ruthlessly. Flawlessly.”
She frowned. “But that doesn’t tell me much about who you actually are.” Hands behind her back, she raised an eyebrow at him. “So this is what you strive for? A fight like this?” Her expression returned to a smile. “But now you’ve made me even more curious, my friend. Why do you seek out these fights?”

"That's because the Bulwarks are a joke."
During all of the ruckus he has caused only one of them had even dared try to stop him. And nothing came of it. They did not mobilize in force. They did not try to protect the weakest among society, which was fine. Because they needed to learn to stand up for themselves. Calling themselves heroes was laughable at best. Glory hogs, sure. Attention hounds? Absolutely. Pathetic whelps hiding away until they were sure it was a fight they could not lose? Absolutely.
"So it sounds like you don't have the faintest idea of who I am. Or why I have chosen to align with you."
Or why he was here an this building fighting her, willing to break her bones and batter her body. Quite possibly ready to continue until it was her heart that gave it's final beat. The thought crossed his mind as he took another step forward, looking to drive her back against the wall with his slow advance. Though he didn't lash out, yet. Not quite yet. The game had shifted, and a new act had begun. It wasn't time for action.
Her final question was left unanswered, it was for her to figure out. She had not proven worthy to be handed the answer. Not yet at least. But her curiosity amused him for the time being. And seeing the little rat trapped as she was gave him little to fear. Even with her tricks, she had proven to be his lesser.

“No I don’t, and see that’s the problem.” She could feel the wall quickly approaching behind her. While she’d only been blocked on one side before, Gilgamesh was taking ground, and she was going to be backed into a corner. “We’re a crazy faction with enough chaos to drive a monk mad. You, on the other hand, look like you mean serious business. The kind of business that results in bloodied noses and dark orchestral music.”
She was going to have to think of something fast if she didn’t want to be stuck between two walls and a guy with bricks for fists and skin. Limen made a mental note to fight Gil in a round room next time.
“Do you feel like you fit in here?” She was not asking accusingly or ironically, but with genuine curiosity.
Limen’s mind raced for an idea. She could try to run back for the door, but if Gil was able to catch up before, the unsteadiness that came from being united with a chair was only going to make it easier for him. If she had her bow, she could shoot a light or something, try to bring something large and heavy down from the sky on him. Or she could-
Her back hit the wall. She was out of time.
Limen took a step forward, away from the wall, widening and lowering her stance. A steady smile remained unshakingly on her face.

There was a thrill as the slow unstoppable pursuit continued. Watching the super back away from him made him feel powerful. Reaffirmed the hell that he had been through. Everything that he had been taught was correct. People like Limen were gifted, talented people. And they squandered what they had. It was enough to make his blood boil. And so when she asked him if he fit in here his only visible response was to clench his fist. His leather gloves creaking in protest as he did so.
But with her back to a corner it seemed the mouse had found the last shreds of her courage. But cornered animals always did. When flight was eliminated there was only one choice left to them. Fight, or die. He was relieved to see that she wasn't going to try and beg for mercy, bribe him, or otherwise embarrass herself or him. He hated that.
But just how much strength did she have left in her? That was the question. She could stand, but could she fight? And if she could fight, could she still put up a fight? In the end it was the smile that did it, that decided what he would do. And that was lunge forward, twisting his body at his hip as his elbow swung for her face in a powerful blow. The impact being concentrated in the small point of impact from the solid bone that was his elbow. Should it land to hit at least, but she had proven to be nothing if not quick thus far.

Limen was seeing black at the edges of her vision. She felt like she’d just gotten off a boat and her legs thought they were still over water. Her head was still swimming.
Gilgamesh was not letting up. He was winning - that was clear - but each of his strikes came just as hard, if not harder, than they had at the beginning of the fight. She saw his strike coming, again going for her head like he hated his face and wanted to take it out on hers, and just as she had the past two times, she dropped down to a crouch and let it whiz over the top of her.
Now was the part where she was supposed to jump back to avoid another strike from him. However, unlike the last two times, behind her was a wall. She had nowhere to run to.
So, it was wait for his next attack, hoping her legs could hold out until she saw an opportunity to get around him then attempt a break for the door. Or she could make a last ditch effort to fight back, attempt to get one more good hit in before she went down. Her choice was clear.
“I swear if you kill me I’m going to haunt your ass.” Limen muttered.
With all the energy she had left, she sprang up at Gilgamesh. It was an uppercut, aimed at the bottom of the hero king’s chin that, as before, would release a small shock of electricity if her brass knuckles hit. There was a slight spin to Limen’s attack, not out of intention, but because of her injured side giving a bit of way. By the time her punch would make contact, her upper half would have twisted so her shoulder was facing Gilgamesh, leaving her back entirely exposed. Limen would normally never let such an opening in her stance slide. The things one does for a final gambit.

He was a little surprised that she still had the strength and speed to dodge that close ranged attack. It actually made him even more disappointed in her because of it. There was so much raw potential and it was so unfocused. People like this angered him more than most. People that squandered their gifts and just floated along on talent. It made him want to hurt her more. She could be so much more with the proper guidance, it would be a shame to tear her down her.
His eyes took in her movements with lightning speed. The spring in her legs and knees, the way her body twisted as her side gave out trying to protect itself from further damage. The gleam on her brass knuckles as they went for his head. His body leaned back to allow the uppercut to move up past his chin as his own arm shot forward, for the side that was exposed toward him with the twist in her body. His hand formed like a claw as he'd jab his fingers in between her ribs as hard as he could.
"You want to know the worst thing about you is?"
His hand would clench to attempt to snap her ribs as he twisted his hand roughly to pull and stretch the muscles that helped to keep the chest able to twist and move. Stepping into the blow as he twisted with gritted teeth he'd lean in so his lips were next to her ear.
"You could be so much more than what you are."
Sickened with her display he'd shove her away from him, ready to watch the Super fall.

She knew as her fists neared Gilgamesh and he began to lean back that she was going to miss him. She also knew that as soon as she did, he was going to counter. This time she would not be able to dodge.
Pain burst through her side. Gilgamesh could hit hard - she knew that - and this was all his force focused on a single point. She could see why some of those gangs he’d hit had never come back. She was beginning to wonder if the guy who had asked her to come fight him had a grudge against her.
Limen responded to Gilgamesh’s question only with a gasp of pain as the breath left her lungs and black began to invade her vision. He twisted, and her legs, at last, began to give out.
As Gilgamesh spoke, Limen felt the rest of her consciousness leaving her. So much more, huh? She wished. She was out before she hit the ground.
She landed with a soft thud, limp as Gilgamesh let her fall. She was unconscious, but she was breathing and didn’t seem to be mortally wounded. She’d probably be up in the morning if left to her own devices. With some serious new bruises, yes, and probably a ripped muscle, but she'd be up.
There was one thing that might catch Gilgamesh’s eye, however. Limen’s old sweatshirt was worn and well past need for replacement (or at least a wash), and with Gilgamesh’s last hit, it was looking even further beyond its prime. The strike to her side had twisted the light material up along her side and lower back, revealing and much of the black shirt she wore underneath. But, in the dim light of the theater, something else reflected under the rim of the sweatshirt. It was metal - a mechanical device, strapped carefully to her back. One might recognize it as a small generator.

He watched her crumple to the ground with a satisfied smirk. There was always a satisfying feeling when you overcame another human being. When you both put everything on the line and you emerged on top. The feeling was almost intoxicating and it had become one of the things that he lived for in life. He was debating on placing his foot on her throat now that she was helpless. To crush her windpipe and end her here and now as punishment for her wasted potential. For taking what she was for granted.
However through the tattered clothing the glint of metal caught his eye and piqued his curiosity. Nudging her onto her stomach with his foot he'd squat down and rip open the back of her shirt to reveal the generator that she wore strapped to her back. When he saw how it connected to her weapons he couldn't help but let out a long manic laugh as he gripped his forehead with a gloved hand. The stupid girl had powered up her weapons with a portable generator? Who the fuck did that?
"You clever bitch."
The laughter died down, though didn't quite cease as he decided that he had misjudged her. She was better than he had initially thought. It made him smile as he mused about how sometimes you find what you were looking for in the most unlikely of places. To think that it would just drop into his lap like this. Well, it potentially fell into his lap. It was still too soon to tell how everything would play out but he was confident that this was his best chance thus far.
"You are worthy."
Without ceremony Gilgamesh would hoist her up, careful to avoid jostling her ribs more than he had to since he suspected he had caused a lot of damage. But Limen would not be left to die here tonight. She had proven that she was worth another chance, a chance to reach the potential that lay before her. And so Gilgamesh would take her beaten and battered body with him into the night.
