It was odd how the city was taking the dragon attack. Certain places still needed to be rebuilt, but those that didn't were acting like barely anything happened at all. Most stores were still open, and the school didn't even shut down because of it. Classes were still in session as though nothing happened at all. Eve hadn't completely recovered from the attack, but she still insisted on going to all her classes and getting all of her work done perfectly. She never missed a class, never turned in an assignment late, and always got perfect scores on those assignments, and she didn't intend to stop now. It didn't matter what else was going on, this was still important.
Because of her recent injuries investing in physical activity was difficult, so she had a lot more time to dedicate to school. In the past few hours she had already written three papers, prepared one presentation, finished the rest of her math assignments for her summer math class, and finished the required reading for all of her classes. It was times like this that she was irritated that the school put a cap on the number of credits, and the number of majors, she could have at once. The students were supposed to be adults now right? Why couldn't they decide what was enough? So what if some over achievers would completely stress themselves out? Isn't that part of being able to make your own decisions? Sadly, as long as the institution was looking out for itself more than the students, it would always impose stupid rules like this. The most annoying part about it was unlike the rules she could just casually ignore, she had to live with this one as long as she continued going to this school. It was quite frustrating.
Because of that rule, Eve was holding off on declaring a second major even though there were many subjects she wanted to learn more about. Normally she'd be content to just ignore any of that and just take the classes anyway, and sometimes she did, but credits expired after time and the thought of wasting them irritated her. It was truly a conundrum. Thus, since she finished these degrees faster than the four years most people took, she ultimately decided to focus on a few things at a time and then start something new once the current ones were done. It made choosing a second major surprisingly difficult, but after the dragon attack there was something she knew she had to take now: mechanical engineering. She decided to take another minor in electrical engineering to complement it, and was immediately frustrated that she couldn't sign up for more classes until the fall. Not only was it too far into the summer to sign up for new classes, but she was already taking the maximum amount she could. Fortunately, before starting on her work for today, she had already researched professors, broken into the office of the professor she intended to take her first class with, grabbed the syllabus, bought the books necessary for the class and started reading. It was days like this that she had no sympathy for the people that never got work done or said school was too hard.
Eve was finding it difficult to wrap her head around the subject, which only made her glad that she started early. While she was working, she spread out much of her other work all over the table she was working it. It was a fairly large table, but the library was always empty during the summer sessions, so no one yelled at her for doing it like they did during the fall and spring sessions. The upside to sprawling like that is that people normally left her alone. The downside was that it was harder to control all the papers she had. When someone opened the door to the library, a slight breeze ran over the table, making several of the papers blow off of it and onto the ground. Eve just scowled at them and sighed. Bending was still difficult, so she'd pick them all up later.
