Lillith raised a delicate eyebrow at his words. It almost seemed like he wanted her to woo him. There's no way. He couldn't possibly be serious. Could he? Those two words kickstarted her heart. They were friends, more than that they were employer and employee. If she came onto him and he wasn't feeling it, there were some serious repercussions. Besides, what if he was just playing with her? Steeling her nerves, she asked the question.
"It is good to know you are alright but the rest of your words leave me curious. Do you want me to woo you?"
The little woman popped a fry in her mouth as she waited for him to speak. Butterflies were fluttering around in her stomach when she heard his question about being friends. Did he really not know that? Lillith chuckled.
"You really think I wouldn't think of us as friends? You really do have a lot of hot air in you head don'tcha?"

"Now Lillith, where would the fun in wooing be if you knew whether your subject wanted to be wooed or not? Besides it should be obvious if an amazing individual such as myself would want to be wooed...some damned mongrels and harpies don't get the hint though."
A charming smile that turned into frustration, it was a typical maneuver for him...should hopefully dodge the question effectively because that was one he was not ready to answer yet. She was Lillith bishop, his secretary, and apparently friend...He did not want to ruin this perfect relationship simply because he mentioned her wooing him. Though the curiosity at how she would woo him did make answering yes, very very tempting.
"And it is not hot air that fills my head, merely glorious facts and wonderful ideas, you should know this Lillith."
His frustration had disappeared, as usual, at the thought of her and turned into a pleasant smile. Confirmation of their friendship was quite a nice feeling.

His response to her question made her even more curious. Dodging questions only happens when one wishes to conceal something. But for once she decided not to push it. If he was dodging it then it was probably something she didn't want to hear. Despite this, something deep inside her deflated a bit. His response to being called an airhead however brought her back out of her thoughts immediately.
"You're right. How could I ever believe otherwise."
The sarcasm was clear in her voice. Though she had a feeling that Escanor might ignore that. His smile filled her with butterflies and warmth. She finished her sandwich and grabbed another fry. Absent-mindedly she dipped a fry into her shake and plopped into her mouth. Her brain was elsewhere. Teasing her with what his actions could mean. Her green eyes focused on Escanor. Almost as if they were staring through him with the oddly dreamy look on her face.

It appeared his tactic had worked perfectly...of course it did, how could any of his tactics not work? Oh right, it's her he was dodging questions, anyone else would've required a wink or some money. But that's one of many reasons that made him take pride in her and their relationship. Her response to his boast had him raise an eyebrow though.
"I don't know how you could, you're one of the brightest people I know. How you did believe that, even I would not be able to figure out."
Escanor took a break in his boasting of her and himself, to take another of his own lunch. When he glanced back up, his scarlet eyes had caught her emerald ones, and he took a bit of pause...before wonder of why she was staring at him came to his mind, and panic instead of hope answered it. There must be something wrong with his appearance, did he accidentally get something on his face or shirt, or was his hair messed up.
"I-is there something on my face?"
It wouldn't do for a Mustang such as himself to panic publicly, so he decided to hold in with only letting that stutter slip. There was also the fact that the look she gave him was almost distracting enough for him not to worry about his appearance. What could that mean? Did she see something? There's no way she saw him as attractive or she would've fallen for him already. Or maybe she had...His slightly nervous and worried gaze had turn to one of focus on her, mainly her eyes. He had to figure this out.

His response made her roll her eyes. Of course he would say that. Sarcasm always soared over his head. It was somewhat adorable. Then again it could teeter on annoying very easily. Just like his over abundant confidence. But confidence was nothing if not endearing and it was something he had in spades. Those were amongst the thoughts in her head when he called her back to reality. Blinking, she shook her head.
"No your face is fine. My thoughts just ran away with me for a moment. Sorry." There. That stutter again. The first time it could have been him just looking for words. This time was different. Why was he stuttering? What could he be nervous about?
"You know, for someone so used to being the center of attention, it surprises me that a stare from a single woman has you stuttering like a nervous teenager. I wonder what James would do with this information."
Lillith was only teasing but the look on his face was bound to be priceless.

Escanor sighed in relief and visibly relaxed slightly before she shot that quip. Oh ho ho, so she wanted to play huh? He took a sip of his drink with a small smile before leaning forward, head resting on cross hands.
"Firstly my dear, my worry was due to it being unbecoming of someone of my grandeur looking disheveled or messy. Secondly, you are no mere woman. Thirdly, if you tell James this then I will merely have to reply that you were staring at my face, and not because anything was on it. I wonder how the chef would respond to that one."
Was it unfair to use the third option, verily so. But Escanor was nothing if not cunning whether it be business or talking. He took a prideful second before his typical cocky smile appeared on his.
"I respect you Lillith but I must warn that when you play with an inferno such as myself and my sharp tongue, you are liable to be burned."

Escanor's words caused Lillith to raise an eyebrow. Was he really going to challenge her? A smirk crawled onto her face at the prospect. This could get interesting. Leaning forward she got close enough to him where their noses were almost touching.
"With how much I play with fire, burns no longer concern me."
Pulling back from him she sat in her chair and sipped her drink. Her eyes were calm, a hint of playfulness shining in them. Pulling away from it , some spilled from the straw. Instinctively she swiped her tongue over her bottom lip to clean it off. Her eyes met his and silence grew between them.
