Carl smiled underneath his mask, the support he received bolstering his confidence. He didn't know for sure that he would be capable of leading the Bulwarks well, admittedly, even for a short amount of time. Still, with Blue Jay and, surprisingly, Nemesis working with him, he felt that he truly was doing what was best. He could figure it out, find a way to work out the differences between the heroes and effectively help the city. It would require a more hands on approach than he was used to, but details like that could be dealt with later. For now, there were other problems to attend to.
Giza Kadabra had appeared, as well as a drone that, if research was to be believed, was likely current form of the one called Dullahan. Both were influential, powerful members of Pandaemonium. Both needed to be shown just how strong the Bulwarks were. If Carl and his merry band could do so, it could possibly make other Pandas pause before attacking the faction or, hopefully, performing other illegal actions. Still, he needed to be smart in planning a form of attack.
"Nemesis, Lobisomem, care to lend me a hand in taking down the villains?," Carl said. He paused a moment before looking directly at his fellow Bulwark. "Also, Nemesis? I just wanted to say thank you. Not just for this, either. Thank you for trying to help the city. Especially when nobody else did." With that said, he turned to face the enemy, channeling a confidence born of many victories.
"Pandaemonium! This is your one and only warning: leave the area now, or be struck down by the collective strength of the Bulwarks! You have no hope of winning this fight, and as an act of my mercy I encourage you to realize this. If you don't, though, we will be pleased to assist in that."
His piece given, Carl took a look around the area. Every super who had seen combat before, he had done extensive research into. Even Hivemind, who hadn't, he knew of due to his alignment to the Bulwarks. There were those around who he didn't recognize. They could prove problematic, but he had faith in his fellow heroes. One way or another, the Bulwarks would win the battle. He intended on making sure of that.
He took hold of the lid of one of the jars around his waist and undid the main zipper on his backpack. While doing this, he took a few steps back. Normally, his actions would seem like one of fear, but his earlier words likely made it obvious that it wasn't that. If that wasn't enough, though, the willpower shining in his eyes probably was.

Giza looked down to the opponents that he’ll be facing: the wolf-creature, that one-eye sword girl and a new face that he has never seen before. Looking over his shoulder, he saw Dullahan’;s little helicopter, as usual. Even though he might have gone after the guy when Aurora planned the coup to take control of the Pandaemonium, Dullahan still decided to stay behind. Guess that old habit never changed: their faction is known to follow whoever the strongest, and since Aurora proven herself to be tougher than Mosh Man, they decided to follow her.
Giza still feels a bit uneasy since some of the Pandaemonium’s loyalty tends to be bought rather than earn. Perhaps this will help some of those who still have some doubt on Aurora’s leadership, to let them see what can happen when all of them decided to formulate out a plan and work together toward one goal. These Bulwarks will have the first honor of being their first stepping stone to that goal.
“I hope you have your spec for this fight,” he said to the helicopter, “this is going to be quite a challenging fight.”
He then looked down to the guy who just issue a challenge to them and pointed to the guy:
“You silly Bulwark, this isn’t about winning or losing. You better ready yourself, because we will not hold back any longer.”
Giza can feel this guy down there have some spunk in him, perhaps even more than that bird-brain can ever be. Good, it’s about time someone decided to fight with all they got rather than holding back their potential. Let’s see which one of their resolve will help them getting the edge they need for this fight.

Lobisomem stretched out their neck, grunting at the cracks that rang out before leaping into the ground, becoming surprisingly hard to see in the slits of the cities.
Their vision flashed red, fogged up like dewy windows. The hunger was quickly emerging, it was all Lobisomem could do to smother the rising desire.
Lobisomem was on the hunt.

"There is no reason to worry," the tinny speakers on Dullahan's small helicopter replied to Giza. "Despite the losses I took in our recent battle, I still have significant resources at my disposal."
This particular helicopter was specialized for a reconnaissance role. Several high-quality cameras took footage of the opposition arrayed before them. It was indeed formidable, but Dullahan had taken some measures to mitigate the effects of a loss.
The helicopter buzzed around in a circle around Giza as it collected data. Dullahan decided to take the opportunity before the battle began in earnest to work on his other purpose in being here.
"Incidentally, I hope there are no hard feelings about that fight. Despite our differences in opinion on the subject of Pandaemonium's ultimate direction, I regard Aurora as anything but an enemy."
He had to pause for a moment to consider whether that was actually true. He concluded that it was; after all, ideas like 'friend' and 'enemy' were emotional distinctions, ones that Dullahan was quite content to leave behind.

"Giza. . ." Nemesis could hardly contain her excitement, already in the process of creating her first sword. After their last encounter during the mayor's speech, she hoped to come across the bastard again at some point. That way she could return the favor of beating him within an inch of his life.
Except, well, Carl's presence did a good job of calming her usual rage and frustration. Nemesis never expected to receive any praise or attention, even if she one day managed to prevent a crime. Still, having someone thank her felt nice, even if she didn't really do anything to deserve it. She turned away before responding, idly tapping her foot against the ground. "Well, yeah, 'course I'd show up."
She remembered seeing one called Lobisomem try to help out before, although Nemesis never know much about them. If Carl already asked for them to be here, then there wasn't much to worry about. Any assistance was greatly appreciated.
Obviously, the bad guys weren't going to leave without a fight. They may be stupid, but since no one's managed to stop them before, why would today seem any different? No, they needed to understand that when the Bulwark actually tried, any crime they hope to accomplish would be prevented.
. . . Hopefully.

Well this is quite a sight to be seen, Giza has to admit. The Bulwark actually has a real “golden boy” doing the fighting in his stead. As soon as he saw the golden figured standing menacingly on the street, he can already guess what about to happen. As soon as Carl issue his order to the gold figure, a chunk of it leaped with such amazing speed toward him and bound itself around his hands and feet. The gold chunks were quite heavy that Giza can’t lift up his arms without having a hernia.
It is quite nice thing that he did spend some of his free-time studying the art of escape from the most influential escape artist magician in history named Houdini; otherwise this might proven to be a problem. With a quick sleight-of-hand, Giza managed to carefully shift his hand around in order to get free from the bind. It did take quite some time and effort, but he finally has his right hand out of the golden bind. Even if it was just one hand, it was all he needs.
“Not bad,” he shouted down to Carl, “guess that makes us even. But don’t get cocky; the fight isn’t over just yet.”
Deep down, he knew that both him and Dullahan are quite in a bad situation at the moment. They have quite the odd stacking against them, and they might be defeated; this isn’t a fight that Giza aimed to be victorious. He wanted to be the most annoyance that the Bulwark ever seen; it about time that these morons finally think as a team other than just do their separate thing. The Pandaemonium needed a strong and capable opponent to fight against; otherwise taking over Emerald City wouldn’t be fun anymore. That is the true spirit of rivalry, and he can’t have it any other way.

Carl paid little mind to Giza or what was said beyond noticing that something was being said. The magician's display, while admittedly beautiful, made it apparent that he wasn't a threat. However, Dullahan had caught the young super's attention. Carl had prepared himself to face a large truck or something else of the like; a swarm of armed drones was not only unexpected, it was absolutely awesome. The boy stared, amazed, as he decided then and there that if he ever had opportunity to talk to the villain, he would.
He snapped out of his amazement and turned back to Giza. The wounds inflicted by the crystal petals had already healed, although his costume had tears and gashes throughout, still. "Midas, recall the gold," he said offhandedly, as he thought of his next move. The metal around the magician started to collect back towards the specter in the same serpentine way as before. It was at this point that he remembered hearing Giza speak.
"Sorry, but by any chance could you repeat yourself?" Carl called out the the magician. "My mind wandered elsewhere. Also, if you'd be so kind, when you return to the docks, I'd like to request that you give a message to Aurora Disicio, otherwise commonly known as Disco, if my sources are correct. Anyway, I'd appreciate it if you could tell her that if these are the strongest forces that can be mustered up to face us, then she really isn't worth my time here unless she decides to meet us herself."
He took a step away and then turned back, quickly raising his finger in the air. "Oh yes, one more thing. I go by 'Carl', and I intend on running this branch of the Bulwarks until a more permanent leader is found. Perhaps this information would be of interest to your new dictator."

Lobisomem skittering around some falling petals as some spikes got caught in their scales, irritating them more than anything else. The helicopters around them wouldn't hinder them much, if they needed to get rid of them, they'd just bite them.
Now of all times, they were chuckling. It was a dark laugh that showed extreme satisfaction at a job well done. This fight couldn't last any longer.
"Move." There would be only one word of warning before Lobisomem jumped onto a building and ran.

That. . . was a lot of helicopters.
Nemesis really didn't expect to ever come across a problem such as this. From what she could recall, all of her previous battles stayed fairly close to the ground. She always had a way to run up to the enemy and punch them, or stab them. How was she going to punch something flying in the air? After the current encounter ended, she needed to come up with a plan in case this happened again. Maybe it was time to figure out if she could make ranged weapons.
Also, what the hell did Carl just do? Nemesis couldn't help but stare as the spirit thing showed up out of nowhere. Beforehand, she only paid attention to the part where Carl had magic blood or whatever. All that gold and Midas stuff had nothing to do with healing. This was another question to worry about later.
For now, the battle continued, even if she kept getting distracted from her revenge.

Giza knew a losing battle when he saw one, and the fight at this moment truly count as a losing battle right now. When that one-eye Bulwark does something to Dullahan, he can make an educated guess that he won’t be much help in this situation. Not only that, all three opponents decided to jump on him with everything they got. To make matter worst, his ring started to glow a strange radiant that he has never seen before. Judging from that, he can feel the ring is being manipulated by something, stalling it from performing its full potential. He didn’t have time to get away from the wolf’s pounce, but he barely made it out of Nemesis’ backstabbing attempt.
“Three against one, eh?” Giza said to them, “Perhaps you Bulwark and us Pandaemonium have more in common than we thought. Hey Carl, if you Bulwark ever disbanded in the later future, there’re a lot of space for some of you to join us.”
It is not his most favorable position, being pincer on both side, and there’s not much he can do about it. The fight is about to be over soon, but he be damn if he didn’t stand firm until the final moment.

The distorted perceptions eventually proved to be too much for Dullahan. His main helicopter swerved to the side, crashing into the middle of the swarm. The other helicopters that had been bumped were pushed into their neighboring helicopters, causing a ripple of collisions throughout the dark cloud. Propellers smashed against each other, fuel tanks were ruptured, and the entire swarm came tumbling out of the sky like a pile of flaming dominoes.
Back in his main body, several blocks away from the fight, Dullahan paused for five whole seconds as he tried to get a handle on what had just happened.
Needless to say, his presence in the battle was ended. At least he had learned a valuable lesson about what not to do when networking together a swarm of bots like that.

Nemesis slowed down a little, somewhat distracted by all the exploding helicopters. On a certain level, she understood that it was partially her fault for causing them to crash into each other. Once the rest of the battle concluded, she ought to stick around and repair anything else that got destroyed along the way. Leaving the people nearby to deal with all the destruction would be unacceptable.
In the meantime, Giza did not look like he was suffering enough, which needed to be fixed before anything else. He did have a mask on—maybe she just couldn't see his reaction as it happened. Nemesis wasn't entirely used to this aspect of the spirit power stuff, so maybe she simply underestimated his capabilities.
That wouldn't happen again.
