It was one of those days that could be considered perfect by many people. The sun was out, but there was a slight breeze to prevent it from getting too hot. There wasn't a cloud in the sky. Aurora hated these kinds of days. They were boring, had no character. However, there was an easy way for her to fix that. Sometimes these sunny days could be convenient. The sun's rays would reflect off of her aurora, making it shine brighter than usual. If she moved now, she would be that much more noticeable, and she would turn this boring, featureless day into something to remember. It was win/win really.
Aurora rarely walked on the street itself while in costume. There were several reasons not to, but in the end the main reason she avoided it was because it wasn't nearly impressive enough. Instead, she started on the side of the city where the buildings were close enough together that she could jump between the walls to get some height, and head into town that way. She tossed some of the spare change, tissues, and other junk in her coat's pockets into the air, and in an instant, they all broke apart into sparkling particles. She also took some of the trash in the alley, a few dumpsters, and bits and pieces of some of the walls of the buildings. By the time she got into the city proper, she already had a massive aurora trailing behind her. She dispersed the particles further, making it look like there was a massive wave of light getting ready to engulf the city. Once the buildings were too far apart that she couldn't jump between them, one of the dumpsters she broke apart appeared under her feet so she could jump off of that instead. Once she was airborne once more, the dumpster exploded into brightly-colored particles once more, and when she needed to jump again, she had another appear under her feet. Everything about her power was obvious, so there wasn't much point in being subtle. This was the only true way to travel as far as she was concerned.
Her target today was a jewelry store on the southern side of the central market. She was sure that any heroes that wanted to try to stop her would know she was coming before she got there given how flashy she was being, but she didn't particularly care. She didn't care if anyone called the police either. Normal police officers were hard pressed to deal with her power, and super powered heroes couldn't stop her from breaking the place apart and making off with some of their goods. They would be an amusing diversion at worst. That said, she actually hoped that certain heroes would try to stop her from doing too much today. Aurora specifically chose this route so she could see which direction they were coming from. If the Emerald City Bulwark did have a base of operations, then it would be reasonable to assume that they would come from that direction. If she hit the right places around town, maybe she'd be able to roughly figure out where it was and she could hit that place instead. Their existence offended her. Not because they wanted to help people, but because they were effectively being complicit in their own subjugation. It would do the world some good to knock them down a peg.
Aurora opted not to tell anyone from the horde about her plans for today. Given how she was moving, they'd figure it out soon enough, and if they wanted in they'd come on their own. This wasn't a particularly important hit to her, so there was no need to make sure it worked out perfectly. The stores main crime was selling jewelry that was way too gaudy, and supporting a certain politician that was in favor of more crackdowns on supers. If they continued to spend their money so...unwisely, well she'd be happy to reinvest it into something more worthwhile.

This was the kind of day the hero hated to let go to waste. The sky cloudless, the sun warm on his back - a breeze to keep it comfortable. It was almost a shame to put on his mask when, with no other real obligations today, he could be laying in the grass of some park. He had been sitting on a campus bench, half working on his class work, half zoning off for the hour prior to seeing what was the first cloud he had spotted all day. This was no cumulous cloud or whatever else he had learned about in that one week of meteorology in 9th grade; it was more like a dust cloud, distant in his vision. Even from the college campus he could see how it shined like a prism in the sunlight. A super was using their power, and making a show of it, and that meant one thing - a fight.
As the hero stuffed his things haphazardly into his bag and ran for the gym and the locker room, he flicked through in his head all the supers he knew of. He spun the lock on his tall rented locker - failing once, getting it on the second try - tossed his school bag in, snatched his gym and sword bags, and ducked into one of the toilet stalls. Did he know of anyone in the Bulwark who could make something like that? Did he really want to wear a sweatshirt on a day like today? The answer to both questions was no, so on went the plain black t-shirt meant to be worn underneath the warmer garment and out went the idea he would be joining a friend. Tough jeans, his current shoes would be fine, sword on strap on back, sword bag stuffed into bigger bag. The hero paused at the door of his stall, listening. He was alone in the locker room. Content, he strolled out. It felt a little weird to keep all of this stuff in just some college locker room during the day, but what else could he do? Blue Jay slipped on his mask, and a moment later was gone.
No one would see him reappear in the bushes behind the room’s back wall. No one went back there; it was where the water drained when it rained and was often muddy. Moments after Blue Jay’s feet touched the grass he was gone again, shooting off and skirting around the dark edge of the campus situated in the lull during classes. Though it’d been a couple of minutes, it didn’t take long to find the prism cloud again. Who was that? Some unaffiliated super? Whenever Blue Jay’s glide came to its abrupt end, setting him suddenly on a rooftop, he pushed off yet again, vanishing as quick as he came.
Sparkling dust. A cloud. Come to think of it, where was that person even going? He didn’t see any current battle, even as he began to catch up and his sharp eyes could start to make out a silhouette. He wondered if they’d sense him coming. Maybe they’d known he was coming all along. He hadn’t made the slightest attempt to conceal himself, even from the out and about citizens.
A skirt - the super was wearing a skirt. Suddenly, it came to him. A skirt, a rainbow cloud; this was Aurora, a member of pandemonium. He’d heard of her, but like most of his “kind”, the new super would be encountering her for the first time.
He thought the super looked interesting from a distance. Blue Jay was catching up and could better make out who may be his foe. Was she… jumping on trash cans? This was the first time he’d seen something like that; a bin appearing out of thin air for her to leap off of before dispersing.
The swordsman stopped atop a building not far from the other super, pausing for a moment just to take in the spectacle of it. And to come up with some sort of greeting. Those were important. “Where's the fire, Arora?” He called. No, wait. That didn’t quite make sense. He elaborated, “You’re making quite a scene there and, I’m,” he looked around, “not seeing a good reason why.” Blue Jay’s stance was upright and relaxed, but his hand moved to rest on the hilt over his shoulder. Using her powers just out and open like this - was she looking for a fight? “I mean, it is a nice day for a stroll,” He was talking too much. “But, uh,” he gestured down to the pedestrians on the street below. A number were simply staring, others were walking away quickly. A few had their phones out.

Post by Stunt Double on Apr 6, 2016 0:28:22 GMT -7
This particular day saw Stunt Double lounging around Bulwark HQ. He had the suite to himself, and he was using the opportunity to put together some spare costumes. White morph suits, ordered in bulk, worn under motorcycling armor and a mask. Black and yellow spraypaint served to give the ensemble a personal touch. Stunt Double was no artist, but he didn't really have to be. Even if his signature symbol came out sloppy, it wasn't like any given costume was likely to survive a fight. He listened to the radio to occupy his mind as he carelessly sprayed a row of masks.
Then something caught his attention.
"-confirmed reports of a supervillain attacking Central Market. Civilians are advised to remain indoors and comply with any-"
Central Market. Stunt Double rushed to the tinted windows on the west side of the suite and looked down. Sure enough, there was a psychedelic wave moving across the distant rooftops, with a small speck in the middle that must have been its creator. Without waiting another moment, Stunt Double rushed into the priority elevator, slamming the button to go down to the building's parking garage and pulling his mask back down over his face.
He rushed through the elevator doors as soon as they opened again, climbing into the inconspicuous car with tinted windows that he used to respond to crises like these. He revved the engine and pulled out onto the street. He had seen his destination, but he needed to make a brief pit stop along the way.
It was only a couple of blocks before Stunt Double saw his target. A rather portly police officer was jogging on the left side of the road, red-cheeked and huffing, toward the site of the supervillain attack.
Stunt Double pulled up next to the officer, rolled down the window, and lightly backhanded him across the face.
That taken care of, Stunt Double opened his car door and immediately began fleeing down a nearby alley. And just as the police officer was beginning to recover and predictably give chase, Stunt Double used his power. Suddenly, Stunt Double was once again next to his car, with the police officer far ahead of him in the alleyway. A brief look downward confirmed that his view of his feet was now blocked by his belly; he had successfully copied the police officer's form.
Hopping back into his car and resuming the drive toward the supervillain, Stunt Double sighed over adding yet another count of assault on a police officer and impersonation of a police officer to his record. Not that it made much difference at this point. Up ahead, he saw a line of police making a valiant attempt at cordoning off the central market. Stunt Double hid his car in an alleyway, got out, and had no trouble crossing the cordon in the chaos as the police mistook him for one of their own.
The brilliant cloud was almost overhead. Stunt Double clambered up a fire escape with ease despite his less-than-athletic adopted shape, peeking his police-capped head just high enough to look out across the rooftops.
He recognized Blue Jay, of course, the hero of the last dragon attack, though he couldn't say they knew each other on a personal level. As for the villain, he wasn't familiar with her, but he vaguely recalled that the details matched up with a major disintegration power.
Stunt Double wore a lopsided grin that was unsuitable for his current face. With these two supers on the battlefield, things were bound to get messy.

There stood a shady figure in a fedora walking along the sidewalk. As the man walked, heels clacking against the floor, he was nearing an electronic store. On the window showed TVs displaying the news channel. As he walked by, he couldn't help but notice a super villain attempting to attack the central market. Furrowing his eyebrows, he looked closer at the scene. "Ah...yes...of course....it's that clown Aurora..." Looking further at the scene, it was quite obvious to him on what was going on. Knowing her, she doesn't attack civilians for fun, or at least he never seen a case of something like that. Having quite a sharp eye, he noticed that it looked like she was going to rob the store. "Despite how much of a brat she may be, this might be my opportunity to gain extra currency...I'm not too far from that area either..." Matter said as he mused aloud.
With that said, he walked into an alley way. Around him, a portal began to suck him up, until he was out of Earth's dimension. In his own pocket dimension, he changed costumes quickly. There were various glowing objects in this pocket dimension, but from his standpoint the shade covered a bit of his face, giving him a more malicious feel. He held the white mask in his hand before plopping it onto his face. Wasting no time, Matter began running across the strange, blocky-like surface of this dimension. He knew how to get to the central market from here, and considering there weren't any busy streets blocking his path, he should get there in no time! There were however, strange rectangular glowing objects that stood around in plenty of various spots, however it wasn't hard to run around them.
After a few minutes, considering he wasn't very far, he arrived. He was still in his pocket dimension, but he was just about ready to make his move. On the building Blue Jay stood on, which he used to call out too Aurora, a swirling dark portal appeared. There, Matter's menacing figure began to show bit by bit as the portal was slowly revealing himself. He stood still the whole time, letting the portal let him out instead. "...Why, hello." Matter looked at Blue Jay before turning around slowly and looking up at Aurora. "Aurora....is it?" Gesturing his hands in a shrug, he continued on. "From what I've seen...and what I know of you...I'm assuming you're here to rob this store....is my hypothesis correct? If so, I want in. And judging from this excuse of a hero we have here...we can work together. Of course I'm only doing this for my benefit, that you should know. Whether you accept or decline, I'm not against you Aurora, I simply want to take my share. But, I believe it is best if we do work together, temporarily of course." ---
SUPPORTING: Matter is offering to team up with her for his own benefits, even if she declines he'll still take his share of the jewels and cash.
Matter didn't notice Stunt Double in the form of the fat cop.

Post by Sergeant Steel on Apr 7, 2016 21:52:49 GMT -7
Sergeant Steel burst into the abandoned storage shed, his cell phone beeping at him wildly. ARTI had sent him the alert that a jewelry store was currently being robbed and he sprinted to the location of his mech suit as fast as he could. His fist slammed down on the wall button that opened up a hole in the floor. A frame holding the suit rose out of the floor, its open back facing its wearing. The hero stepped into the suit and felt the padding close around his back. After a moment, the suit came online and his HUD turned on.
"-Good to see you made it so quickly, sir-," came ARTI's digital voice as the ceiling opened up above him.
"Just guide me to the site of the crime, ARTI," he replied, activating the thrusters in his feet and flying out of the hole.
"-Of course, sir-," the AI said. "-The directions are being put onto your heads up display as we speak-."
As ARTI finished, a GPS map popped up on the screen and Sergeant Steel followed the directions it displayed. He adjusted his course slightly before speaking again. "What's the SITREP for the robbery?" the hero asked.
"-Quite a doozy, sir. Three supers are involved in the robbery. Reports identify them as Blue Jay, Aurora, and Matter, sir-," the AI answered. The Sergeant had heard of Blue Jay before but the other two were unfamiliar to him. It seemed wise of him to use his scanner on them both, but only one could be processed at a time. He would have to choose and hope he chose right about which one to scan. "-No casualties or injuries to report so far, but police do have the area surrounded.
"Could be worse," the hero replied with a shrug, the area of combat quickly approached. He slowed his forward motion down considerably and pulled in for a gentle landing on the street, standing next Blue Jay and the disguised Stunt Double, who he thought was just a regular fat cop. "Seems I didn't miss the party," Sergeant Steel said. He looked back and forth between the two villains before settling on one of them. The one that he thought could prove to be a bit harder to take down.
"ARTI, give me a full scan. I need to know what makes them tick," he commanded.
"-Right away, sir. Conducting scan-." Satisfied, Sergeant Steel refocused on the villains.
"Alrighty, then. Shall we skip the banter today and settle this quickly?"

The situation was beginning to get... interesting. Sergeant Steel had arrived, but so had a second villain, resulting in what was to all appearances a two-versus-two fight. Knowing what he did about the two other Bulwark heroes, it was hard for Stunt Double to believe that they'd end up losing here, even without his help. And win or lose, Stunt Double suspected that this area would soon become a very unsafe place.
"This is gonna hurt," he muttered to himself, still grinning despite the increasingly perilous situation. He mounted the rooftop, standing straight as he surveyed his options... then charged directly toward the rest of the supers, the pudgy belly of his adopted policeman form bouncing as he vaulted the narrow alleyway between the rooftops!

Aurora watched the people down below scramble like ants. She was pleased that the area was cordoned off so quickly. It meant that anyone that didn't deserve a Darwin Award would be out of the way by now, leaving her only to fight the people that would actually be interesting and worthwhile to fight. It didn't take long for one of those to show up either. Sadly, he teleported in, not letting her have any insight to where the Bulwark headquarters might be. Her face contorted into something between a pout and a scowl as she continued towards the building. He tried to address her, though it was so awkward and embarrassing that it almost wasn't worth even listening to. Almost.
"Is is such a nice day isn't it? It'd be such a shame to let it go to waste..."
With that, a hole, roughly the size of Aurora herself, suddenly appeared in the side of the building, and a trail of sparkling particles made their way to the aurora behind her. Moments later, the wall rematerialized under her feet, allowing her to jump off of it and make her way to the hole she created. Unlike the dumpsters, she didn't make the wall disintegrate again, letting it fall to the ground below. It made a distinct crash when it landed, and left a sizable dent in the road.
Then suddenly another teleporter came out of nowhere. What was with all these teleporters anyway? She got that coming out of nowhere was their thing, but more than one at once? Was there a convention or something she didn't know about? Seriously, teleportation was one of the most annoying powers out there. It was basically cheating.
"Like I need your help," she flipped her hair, as she spawned another dumpster to jump on, once again letting it drop instead of adding it back into her aurora. "Just don't get in my way and there won't be any problems. Oh, and word of advice. If you want some stuff, hit the back room. The main room is about to become a death trap. Just a heads up." She paused for a moment. "Oh, and you might want to get off the roof too."
With that, she landed on the hole she created. One more hero joined the fray. It was nice that the teams would at least be even. It'd be way too easy if it was her and that one guy battling against just one hero. She was a little disappointed though. She was going to be fighting against two people that used weapons? And they wanted to fight against HER using them? Were they stupid? Well, whatever, she could hold back a little bit rather than just winning right off the bat. Winning in this situation didn't mean much to her, so it would be more interesting to let the battle draw out a little in the end.
"As you wish," she shrugged at the last hero before diving into the building.

As expected, Aurora's reply seemed immature. Matter stared at her, seeming emotionless. He didn't really care what insults she had or what she bragged about. It would only lead to her downfall. Once she said that, a hero in a mech suit arrived. "Hmph..." Looking back at Aurora, he shrugged. "Clearly, you might need my help. But of course, if that's your wish for me to stay out your way so be it. However, I expect the same from you." Looking at Sergeant Steel, he chuckled slightly. He seemed unfamiliar, however, he didn't want to underestimate his opponents. That'd be a foolish mistake. "As much as I'd love to stay and play, I have more important things to attend to." Taking Aurora's words of advice, the villain on the rooftop decided to make his move. "I don't know quite what to expect, however I do have my own goals...have fun gentlemen." With that said, Matter began to slowly SINK through the ceiling! He did it just in time to see the...fat policeman vault? Was that chubby police man a super hero? How...? No matter. Soon Mater entered the building.
Matter made his way down the hall. Security cameras saw him, but he didn't mind. Usually he'd destroy him, but not knowing what Aurora had planned, he needed to act fast. Making his way to the back room she suggested he go to, he found jewels, money, and other artifacts. Nodding, the portal that brought him here appeared again. Matter put his hand on each object, all of them being sucked into the portal. The portal then disappeared and Matter waited in that room for the upcoming events.

Blue Jay hung his head. This had not been his best introduction. Another super appeared out of nowhere, unsettlingly close considering a battle was at hand. Mask, suit, sudden and effortless arrival, smug mannerisms - it was the combination of the last two that clued him into who the new guy was. Matter, Blue Jay recalled; and that made two new supers met in a single day.
The problem was, both of them would be fighting against him. Blue Jay felt fairly confident he could take down Aurora by himself (though pride was the only supporting point in that argument), but the idea of a 2v1 against him made him nervous. As he was bracing himself for a tough fight, however, backup arrived. The shining hero and would-be teammate flew in like, well, an awesome fighting robot.
“Sergeant Steel!” Blue Jay greeted the metal mech. “Actually, you’re just in time. Thanks for not being fashionably late.” He couldn’t tell the fellow Bulwark how glad he was he didn’t have to fight alone.
Motivation surged through him. He was ready to win this fight. In a single swift motion, the hero drew his sword. The warm sun glinted off of the outdated weapon; the black hilt felt warm in his hand from the sunlight. beneath his mask, his grin was wide. He glanced at Matter, the second foe to arrive and thus currently his second priority - even if he had appeared suddenly and very close to him. His attention turned back to the combatant he’d come to fight. “Aurora, don’t expect- hey!” Or rather, where she used to be. Even though someone - now two people - had arrived to stop her, she just continued on her merry way into the building. She hadn’t even bothered with a single trade of blows. “You can’t just run away!” He shouted after her. Heedless of the warning to her ally, Blue Jay gave chase to the thief-to-be.

Aurora smirked. The place looked exactly how she planned it. Even if she could see through her own power just fine, she could tell that her aurora was densely packed and filled the whole room. It was hers, so it's not like she had to worry about it leaking out through all the holes in the building either. While she was admiring her own work, she felt a sudden sharp pain in her said. She managed to avoid coughing, but it did knock her to the ground for a moment. She only hoped that the shimmering fog filling the room stopped the hero from being able to see that before she got back up.
"I wasn't running away dumbass," she tried to hide that she was hurt, but her voice was a bit weaker than before. "My goal was here, why should I even care that you were standing out there? How do you even plan to stop someone like me anyway? What can you do against this?"
With a smirk on her face, she started turning more of the things in the store into particles. One by one, jewelry, display cases, and even parts of the wall and floor started to dissolve, making her aurora grow in both size and density. Aurora wasn't quite sure if the foolish hero would be able to see any of it given how dense the cloud was already, but he should at least recognize the popping noise that her power created when she turned something into particles. Unless he was completely not paying attention while they were talking before, but that would just be rude.
Her...partner for the fight seemed to be doing his own thing, but he was being useful, so Aurora didn't feel the need to complain. She had her own issues to deal with right now, and she DID warn him that she was doing something in this room. If he couldn't deal with it, it would be his fault anyway.

It quickly became very difficult to see within the jewelry store. It was only through squinting glimpses of the other super that Blue Jay was able to even ballpark her location, and when he swung, it was nearly blindly. His blade did make contact with flesh - near the tip. Now that he was actually in the prism cloud, he could understand the threat. Moving through it felt like moving through sandpaper and trying to look through it was like staring at snow on a clear day. Blue Jay had been physically exerting himself enough that it was doubtless he’d breathed at least some of them in, though perhaps less than he would’ve had he not been wearing a mask that covered both his nose and mouth. He took several retreating steps back, one eye closed from the glare, sword positioned in defense.
She was right - there was no way he was going to win attempting to fight close-range. He hadn’t seen Sergeant Steel play his hand yet, nor had he been paying attention to Matter’s actions. The cloud seemed only to be growing thicker, and Aurora was but a voice with no body to see or hit. Blue Jay was forced to ponder a common and difficult question. What was more important; stopping the villain or not destroying the place? Stop the villains, obviously. Stuff was going to get wrecked whether he directly aided in it or not.
“Don’t underestimate me, Disco.” Blue Jay said confidently. “It’s my turn to show off.”

Matter let out a grunt once the items and goods were successfully taken into his portal. That was good. He'd have more money if he was going to do what he originally intended on doing. His....'plan'. He walked around the room, his smart shoes clacking against the tiles. He heard the shattering of glass, then a bit of 'popping' noises. Then it sounded like a battle was taking place down the hall. So far, he didn't see any of the other heroes besides Blue Jay make their move. Were they plotting something? "I do not yet know if this Aurora is capable of stopping a plot these heroes may have, and if she's taking on one hero, there might be another hero in the shadows." Matter put his hands in his suit pockets hanging his head as he mused to himself. "Although sitting around in this room waiting for her plan might be a fatal mistake if she's stopped....I'll go ahead and help her, then quickly, if possible, return."
Summoning a portal, his form began to disfigure. Soon, his body began to look as if it were spiraling into the dark portal. Then, soon enough, he was gone. Not a trace to be found. In the room Aurora and Blue Jay were in, a portal appeared beside Aurora. However, it'd be hard to tell if Blue Jay had seen him arrive or not. Matter let his form be transparent so the particles wouldn't effect him, however, that also meant he couldn't attack without letting his form be solid again. He had trouble seeing, it was hard to make out Blue Jays form.
