Hope quickly forked over the twelve dollars and twenty-five cents that the taxi ride had costed them, as if he knew exactly how much it was going to cost. Big Joe's was, after all, where Hope visited more than anywhere else in the city, and he knew its relative distance to just about everywhere else. He swiftly hopped out of the cab, uttering a single "Thanks." as he exited, and moved around to the other side of the yellow automobile. Placing a hand onto the door, and the other onto the handle, he pulled Jersey's door open, allowing her to exit without having to exert herself whatsoever.
It was clear Hope was trying to be somewhat gentlemanly, despite dressing in a completely informal manner, taking her to a rather unimpressive pizzeria, and of course concealing two pistols beneath his jacket; but he was doing his best. "Gotta' do somethin' to be gallant, huh?", he spoke proudly as he allowed her to exit just outside the pizza shop. Big Joe's itself was a modest joint. A typical pizzeria the likes of which would often be seen in big cities like Emerald. Nothing special, booths and tables, not gourmet in the slightest, but a true pizza connoisseur like Hope knew that dives like this were the best places to get a slice.
The interior of Big Joe's itself was typical of what you would expect. Black and white checkered floor, red leather, though obviously faux booths, burly Italian-American chefs, the place was the literal definition of a stereotype. The smell however, escaped the building. The familiar bell of the door opening and closing allowed the scent to escape. Melting mozzarella, sun-ripened tomato, smoked delicatessen meats and spice all roared out of the building, an assault on the nostrils, though a welcomed one.
He held the door open for her, and awaited her response.

The cab journey had been a welcomed chance for Jersey to try and familiarise herself with the Downtown area, as she had carefully watched the twists and turns, signage, and even the stop lights as they passed. When they pulled up outside of the pizzeria, she unclipped her belt and watched curiously as Hope chivalrously moved around the car and opened the door for her. Part of her was flattered to be treated so softly, although she was distinctly out of touch of any meek, mild, and grateful side of her. As a result, she didn't express any gratitude besides a small smirk and roll of her eyes.
Stepping out into the brisk air, she stuffed her hands into the pockets of her hoodie, within which her knuckle dusters sat, carried almost permanently on her person as a means of protection. As she inspected the pizza shop up and down, she familiarised herself with the surroundings - an understated diner, windows and surfaces impeccably clean but clearly worn, it bore all the signs of a diamond in the dirt. "If you say so," she chuckled, moving past the open door and inside, immediately hit by a wall of scents that sang praises for the food inside. Warm, home-cooked, and lovingly made, it was all betrayed by the homely smells of pizza ingredients.
Picking her way past the booths, she pivotted on her feet and took a questioning glance at Hope. "So, where's the VIP table you recommend? And what's the best pizza to have? I hope you say New Yorker, because that chase for the pizza better have been worth it."

Hope smiled as she allowed him to get the door for her, indicating that she's clearly not the type to overreact when someone, particularly a man, decided to do something nice for her. As she entered, surprisingly enough before him, he followed, the familiar smell of Big Joe's getting to him even more than before, he sighed relievedly. He was home. The tranquility was broken rather quickly as one of the large Italian-Americans behind the counter shouted at him. "Hey, Snow White; you're back already! You brought a little lady friend with ya' this time too! How cute is that? Just adorable, adorable.". Hope responded in cue. "I told you to stop callin' me that, Sal! Yeah, this is Jersey, you be nice to her, y'hear?". The Italian-American looked to his co-workers. "Y'hear that? Be nice to her? Be nice to her? I'm always fuckin' nice! Show some respect, Snow! Ah, I'm just screwin' with ya'!
Hope smiled and waved him off as he took Jersey's side once more. "No VIP booth in here, J. Whole thing's my house anyway; or it might as well be. And yeah, I'd always recommend the New Yorker, especially if Sal's makin' it his way.". He took Jersey to a booth, placing a hand on her back as to escort her to her seat, before turning and yelling to Sal once more. "Ay' Sal! Get us two New Yorkers, Sal-Style!". The Italian-American turned around once more in true melodramatic, stereotypical fashion. "What am I, ya' fuckin' mother? Nah, I'm just yankin' your chain, Snow. Comin' right up, ya' little troublemaker!". Hope grinned subtly at his pseudo-family, the only people he had that weren't co-workers of his that seemed to care about him. After all, he was here nearly every day.
Taking a seat once more opposite Jersey, he looked at her. "Sorry 'bout Sal. He's a little... Loud. What do you think of the place?". He looked at her tentatively and expectantly, desperately hoping that she wasn't disgusted by the whole atmosphere.

Jersey, amused by the playful banter between the two, merely offered 'Sal' a nod in his direction as greeting, her lips creased into an unusual, entertained smile. As Hope led her to their seat, she slid into the booth, listening in over the order. As she settles down, she folds one leg over the other and leans over the table, chin once again slightly upturned as Hope settles into the booth in turn. She too had a mischevious tone as she spoke, even though the words were nothing of the sort - it was an indicator of her mood and nature, and clearly of the somewhat teasing, sly manner in which she drove the conversation. She wasn't 'toying' with him, so to speak - the interest was genuine, even though she had originally been driven for her own interest. Nonetheless, her personality drove her to play with him, much alike a cat with prey, and she could only hope that he was as receptive to such an interaction as he had been thusfar. She was not going to let on too much emotionally beyond continually intense sexual flirtation. So it was that she shed her jacket, exposing her flattering but barely-there, midriff-cut vest; it could be noted, however, that she very intentionally tucked her jacket slightly underneath her rear, securing it and keeping it close for the safety of her weaponry, although Hope would likely not know this.
Propping her chin up with her hands whilst her elbows rest on the table, she cracked her knuckles and met his gaze for a few moments before she cast her gaze about the room without moving her head. She was already familiar with the surroundings, but such body language ensured she appeared genuinely interested in the conversation. "It's a pizzeria - the best ones always look underwhelming. Clean as anything, though." She set her sights onto him again, the keen smirk still spread upon her face. "So, were you following me around that whole time at the market or something?"

Hope smirked as she greeted Sal with a nod, watching for a few seconds as he got to work making their food. Big Joe's never came with too much of a wait, and that was one of the best things about it. Just as she'd been looking at him flirtatiously, he'd been doing the same to her; and unbeknownst as much to her as her opinion was to him, he was genuinely interested in her. Fascination got the better of him at the market, not that he minded that much right now. As Jersey removed her Jacket, he did not do the same, presumably for the two pistols on his chest and hip, respectively, that no matter how little Sal would care, he'd rather keep hidden.
Just as Jersey removed her jacket, however, Sal audibly whistled, and Hope shot him a scolding look from across the room, to which he raised his hands innocently and mouthed "What?". He took a few seconds, having given up on being subtle; to look over her outfit. "You not cold in that?". He smirked as he spoke, Big Joe's was a warm environment. The heat from the room temperature being completely trumped by that of the stone ovens in the back. Though as she spoke in regards to Big Joe's itself, he smiled again, speaking far more softly than usual. "Yeah, I like it here. Feels like home, y'know?". Sal had evidently heard Hope's comment and yelled out. "Except ya' don't pay rent or do any fuckin' chores!". Hope laughed quietly and looked back down.
Suddenly, his pensiveness was interrupted by her question. "Huh? The mark-... Oh, right. Uh, well. In all honesty, yeah. I was followin' you for some time. Wasn't usin' the power the whole time though. Probably why you didn't hear the beeper. Thought I better check out on the person who interrupted my fun yesterday, y'know?". He smirked again, issuing a quick wink, and knocking his knee against hers under the table, playfully.

The attention afforded to her both by Hope and Sal spawned yet another devillish smirk on her face, at this point seemingly a staple that refused to leave. Sal's innocent whistle and 'caught-red-handed' look surprisingly made her feel comfortable, at one and at home with the play and atmosphere that made the constricted little diner feel homely. As she turned her attention back to Hope, she listened in to his explanation, brows quirked, tongue protruding subtly from her mouth whilst her front teeth bit down.
"Oh, uhuh, of course," she purred yet again, shaking her head slightly in mocking disapproval, "You voyeur, you - given how brazenly you've stolen looks so far, I'd dare say you probably took some liberties with that power of yours around the market." Her tone is quite obviously teasing, but she almost meant what she said - tackling his daring liberties of looking at her head on, she continued to play, certainly not scolding him. In fact, her mischevious tone would likely seem almost approving to him as she arched her hands beneath her chin, interlocking her fingers so that her knuckles balanced her head.

As it would seem that Jersey did not at all mind the attention she was getting, Hope relaxed somewhat. He leaned back into his chair and rested his arms onto the table of the booth the two were sitting in. He took note of the way she was teasing him, tongue out and brows quirked, he was, more than ever, infatuated with the woman, and happily sat in the diner with her. He only wished he'd gotten another can of coffee, but he resorted to simply walking over to the fridge by the counter, pulling out two cans of cola, and leaving the cash on the counter for Sal to take, placing one in front of Jersey, the other in front of himself.
He smirked, exhaling bluntly and briefly, almost a laugh as she mocked him. He took a sip of his drink, and responded to her, leaning onto his own hand on the table. "Would you mind if I had, J? Be honest now...". He was now being just as flirtatious as she was, very much pandering to each comment she made as he looked down at her lips briefly before glancing back up to her eyes, his still shut somewhat, only slightly open, making him seem far more relaxed than he'd been at other times today. "Hell, I dare say if you knew, you'd have liked it... Encouraged it even.".

Taking the can as it was extended to her, she cracked open the top and took a sip, savouring the comparative sweetness to the bitter coffee she had finished before. His increasing confidence both amused and intrigued her, experiencing far more of a challenge from his cockiness than she had ever had with anyone before. Almost like resistance, it spurned her to push his limits - perhaps to shock him - and she wasn't one to back down on this front. It was a game she was more than willing to play, and one that this time, she wasn't going to lose.
"Now, now," she chirped, shuffling slightly in the booth so as to project herself, and therefore her impressive cleavage, into further visibility, "Don't get too cocky with me. After all, I guarantee that using that power of yours isn't the most efficient way of snatching a the best few glances." She was unsure if it would please or panic Hope as she spoke in a fairly loud tone, her somewhat low-pitched voice likely audible to anyone in the diner should they be listening in. The lack of privacy was part of her pushing boundaries, interested to test his personality, to play with him, and potentially to break the resistance he offered. Not only had he become interesting and alluring, he had become immediately quite fun.

He watched her drink from the can with apparent fascination, every little movement of her's to him was something to take in, to be in awe of, or so he thought. She was clearly enjoying the increasing cockiness that Hope was utilizing, and therefore, he knew he needed to not only keep it up, but ramp it up. Taking yet another passing glance at her chest, it was increasingly obvious what Hope wanted more than to take her out for pizza, and while Jersey might have been intent on winning this game, Hope was certainly going to put up a fight. For once, he wouldn't be disappearing into thin air.
He took in the sight of her cleavage, which she was quite obviously maneuvering toward him, looking back up to her after a few seconds, responding to her quip. "Is that so? Well how about you school me on how I might get better acquainted with what I'm glancin' at, eh, Doll?". Hope's familiar Southern Drawl was slipping far heavier into his speech than usual, going so far as to refer to her as 'Doll', a remarkably southern thing to do, considering their location. He didn't notice, however, he was far more intent on doing his best to see what she was hiding, metaphorically speaking, of course. He pressed his knee against hers once more, knocking it against it, then keeping it there, as if gauging her reaction.

Jersey leaned back into the head of the booth as he responded, arms folding beneath her breast in with an amused and somewhat impressed look. For someone three years her junior, he certainly had the quick wit and confidence of her own age. Despite seeming momentarily bested, the smirk on her face only grew, showing that it was far from over. The Southern drawl which infected his tone gave the conversation an unusual feel - almost intoxicated, but not quite. The nature of the conversation could certainly have led those around them to believe that was the case. "At three years your senior, there's a lot I could teach you," she clicked her tongue, her expression already betraying the undertones and innuendo of her words, "But I'd prefer to see you work for it - teaching by me, now that's not a lesson, that's a reward."
Resting her hands in the front pockets of her shorts, instead of meeting the knock of his knees, she dominantly and surprisingly raised her feet and rest them on his lap. Pristine combat boots, shined and cleaned, nestle themselves up around his thigh in a gesture that defied all social convention.

Hope took yet another glance towards her midriff as she placed her arms beneath it, an act that would surely visibly increase the size of her bust; glaring quite obviously, but confidently and happily. He was rather content with the whole situation, the flirting, the woman herself, and the fact that they were practically on a date, regardless of how cynical they'd both been about it. He took a second to listen to her accent, taking it in; though not being able to estimate properly its origin. It clearly wasn't a New Jersey accent, thankfully; he thought to himself.
As she placed her feet up on his lap, he was momentarily stunned. Not quite knowing what to do, looking down to her feet, the clunky boots rather erotically placed on his thigh were all the more indicative to what she was really doing. He responded to her quips from before. "Now, now, J... Don't go thinkin' 'cause you're older than me, that you know all the tricks in the book... I'd say I'm holdin' my own pretty damn well... As for working for it? Go ahead, tell me how I do that... If I'm anything, it's hardworking...". He issued her yet another wink and a smirk, something that had been pretty much trademark to the conversation the two had been having at this point.
Just like that, Sal placed two pizzas before them, one for each of them. They weren't especially large, but they looked surprisingly great. Maybe now Jersey would understand why Hope had reacted in such a hostile manner to Ophiuchus stealing his food. "Make sure he eats all his food, eh? Scrawny little guy needs to grow!". Sal was evidently talking to Jersey, about Hope; before ruffling Hope's hair with his hand, an affectionate display of kindheartedness that would indicate that Sal is very much Hope's father figure.
Looking down to the pizzas themselves would be a visual treat. They weren't at all greasy, stonebaked and cooked to perfection. The cheese was an impressive shade of pale yellow, detracted only by the red oil on the surface, and occasional chili flake. The meats were evidently fresh, hot and spiced; mushrooms still moist and newly picked. Every topping on the food looked great, though with the few people in the restaurant, it was a wonder that Big Joe's stayed open. "Well, dig in, J. Get ready for an experience you won't forget!".

Carefully analysing his face as he reacted subtly in shock at her placement of her feet, her brow quirked and her lips twitched. She clearly appeared pleased with herself for the gesture. As she was about to respond to his brave, bold claim, Sal's portly figure made its way over and placed down between them two freshly cooked pizzas. For the sake of convenience, she withdraws her shoes from Hope's lap, straightening herself up and slightly spinning the plate to get a good look at the food offered to her. "He certainly does," Jersey jabbed the comment both in the direction of Sal and Hope, clearly playfully insulting the male.
She took a moment to inspect the pizza, eyeing up which slice was best to begin with - first slice couldn't be too overloaded, she had to get a good taste of the crust to judge whether or not Hope could be trusted in terms of cuisine. Selecting one, Jersey tore it from the rest of the pizza and raised it to her mouth, taking an impressively large bite from the centre point. She seemed engrossed for a moment, rolling the flavours over her tongue and clearly making a judgement on the quality. "Hmm," the noise mumbled through closed lips and a full mouth before she swallowed, clearing her throat, "You've earned my trust in picking good food, Sal makes a damn good pizza."

Hope very much seemed to be analysing every little movement she made, every reaction. He had good reason to; to him this was the equivalent of bringing her to meet his dysfunctional family, in a round about way. As their food was placed before them, he did the same as she did, though not mimicking her, just naturally, spinning the plate to choose a slice with plenty of toppings for his initial bite. He slipped the pizza into his now gaping maw, taking a huge, and rather impolite, bite from it; engulfing mushroom, pepperoni, ham and jalapeno in the process. He swallowed the food down, obviously enjoying his meal, his favourite. He rolled his eyes slightly as Jersey issued him a pseudo-insult.
He responded to her claim. "Sal does make a damn good pizza.". Sal perked up, clearly hearing the compliment. "Y'hear that, Mickey? Sal makes a damn good pizza! Kid's gonna bring a tear to my eye. Y'always welcome here, both a' ya'!". Sal was a kindhearted man for the most part, but one that held true to his nature and to his personality. You could always rely on Sal to be boisterous, loud and brash; but that's what Hope loved about him. Didn't matter how good of a thief, an agent or a young man Hope was, Sal would always keep him grounded, and serve a mean slice in the process.
Having regained his concentration on Jersey, he spoke once more. "So; what do I gotta' do to get this... Teachin'?".

Chewing through the slice of pizza, Jersey's attention divided between the food and Hope. While Sal merrily accepted her praise, she didn't do much to respond besides a smile, rather than a smirk, in his direction, instead concentrating on the white-haired male who also enjoyed his own meal. An unusual choice of conversation for such a homely and childish meal, but one she was clearly enjoying the chase of. With her brown eyes locked on his, narrowed somewhat in an alluring, yet sharp expression, she continued. "Impress me," she purred, still feasting on the pizza, "Or something of the like. The chase is half the fun, especially when the chase is half the fun, and the prey likes to fight back." It would not be clear who the 'predator' and who the 'prey' was in the unusual dynamic, however her keen, piercing eyes and somehow hungry look suggested that she had a good idea.

Hope eyed her lustfully as she chewed through the food; while there was typically nothing remotely erotic about someone eating a pizza, perhaps one of the least elegant foods ever devised besides perhaps a burrito or even worse, ribs, not that they weren't equally as delicious. His strange red eyes were locked against hers, just as her brown irises burrowed deeply into his own; calling into question just why he had red eyes. It wasn't an especially commonplace trait, even in the less than regular city of Emerald, and when combined with his pale skin and snow-white hair, a fair assumption would be that it was something to do with his power.
"Impress ya'? I'm sure I could do that... One way or another.". He grinned widely, before wiping a small amount of oil from his lips with his palm, cleaning it off with a napkin. "The chase? I'd have to agree with ya' there, Missy. As for the predator or prey... Seems to me like one of us is better at stalkin' than the other...". He once again, as he'd been doing for the general duration of their time together, glanced over her body; taking in every curve and line, artistically drawn and sculpted almost; she was well and truly a masterpiece.
