His explanation made her raise an eyebrow. She was expecting something more like that it would interfere with allies, or it made it so it was difficult for him to see too, or even that he didn't like the smell of smoke, but it felt like cheating? That was a new one. Her own power could interfere with peoples' senses in similar ways, and while it wasn't something she did often because it meant her aurora couldn't be doing something else, it wasn't something she was afraid to use. It was almost cute. His thoughts were interrupted by a thump and sounds of pain. Aurora blinked, surprised that she actually managed to hit him. Sure, she used specific objects she was carrying just in case she hit him, but she didn't actually expect to succeed and it left her a little concerned. The hail of small objects stopped as she tried to collect her thoughts again.
Her left leg was still numb and unresponsive, so standing up wasn't an option. Moving was difficult too. However, even if she could move, her reflexes weren't good enough to dodge an untelegraphed, near instant attack. Bolide's fist collided with the side of her nose, knocking her back. Beyond bending her numb leg a little awkwardly and a little soreness on her nose and cheek, it didn't hurt too much. Aurora wasn't sure if he just wasn't very strong, or if he was just making sure he didn't hurt her, but the circumstances she wasn't about to question it. There was no point in trying to hurt each other, so holding back here was the right thing to do anyway.
"You didn't think about where I would be if your first attack actually succeeded did you? You're still taking too long to follow up, but it looks like you're starting to realize that," she rubbed her nose and made an effort to stand up again despite her leg's numbness. "An attack like that is going to be very difficult to dodge, even from people with the best reflexes. I think I have enough information to give you a starting point at least. Let's stop here for now."
It took her a moment, but she fumbled her way back onto her feet. Even if Bolide offered to help her up she wouldn't take it, only because she was curious about the full extent of the effects of his power and how quickly they wore off. Even once she was standing she leaned heavily on her good leg. It would take awhile long for the smoke to dissipate, but they were close enough together that she could see him fine. She could clean up everything she dropped later, for now she brought her aurora back close to her and spawned the dart and needles she absorbed into her hand and handed them back to him.
"You'd be surprised at how infrequently you'll actually fight people that really care about what they're fighting for. It's quite sad really. That aside, I don't think putting yourself in an advantageous position is cheating. An area being filled with smoke like this is unlikely to have long term effects on the person you're fighting, or the area you're fighting in, so it's not like you'd be destroying anyone's life. Just make sure your allies can handle it if you're not fighting alone. That said, it's ultimately up to you to decide what kind of tactics you're okay with and what kind you're not, so I won't judge you for that.
"Your abilities seem best suited for long battles and making other people waste time and energy. Make sure you can last through long battles, and make sure you have enough objects, or at least a good way to recollect them, to get through long battles. Without the big cloud of smoke, your teleportation will be relatively predictable compared to what some other teleporters can do. It's still a valuable asset for dodging, but you'll have to be careful and find other ways to prevent your enemies from guessing what you're going to do. If you can teleport directly in front of someone like you did with me, that would be a good time for your most powerful attack because it will be very difficult to dodge. Work on your endurance at the very least, not that it's bad but because it'll be one of your greatest assets, and then decide if you'd rather be stronger or faster. If you want to be stronger, work on your upper body strength. There are several options for that without needing a gym membership or a lot of equipment, so look online for ideas. If you want to be faster, make sure you don't build too much muscle, in your upper body especially, because the weight will slow you down. Being stronger will make your close range attacks more likely to leave an impact, but will make you slower to get from place to place without your teleportation. Being faster means you can move around more effectively, but your attacks won't pack as much of a punch. It's up to you to decide what kind you prefer. I'd recommend getting into a few more fights before deciding. Is there anything else you want to know or try?"
