Being a policeman isn’t all glamour and thrill like how they’re portrayed in TV show, especially for a rookie like Milo. He can still remember the first time he came to the ECPD, the Emerald City Police Department, straight from the police academy like it was yesterday: the precinct were quite boring. Being the rookie of the force, Milo spent most of his time either behind an office desk with paper work, or going out there on parking meter duty. Seriously, it’s a miracle that he hasn’t got an aneurism from numerous complains. They all ranged from either “I was only gonna parked there for five minutes” to “don’t you have anything better to do?”
Of course dealing with normal civilians is already tough enough; Emerald City is quite a hazardous place to work when it come to super-power people. The reason why he got assign to this department as soon as he graduated was because the police require man-power replacement ever since some supers decided to attack the precinct, and the few dragon attack was not helping at all. For now, however, he just has to take a deep breath and deal with the situation as they come rather than lose his cool.
Since the precinct was undermanned, the higher-up gave him work from another officer: he’s supposed to patrol the area around the abandon HappyWorld amusement park for signs of drug-junkies and teenage-punk. He’s not even sure why the city hasn’t demolished this mess of a place instead of keeping it in its decrepit condition. However, since he’s already on the commissioner’s black-list, he would prefer not to piss him off any further by insubordinate.
If the park was creepy in the day, it only got ten-time worst when night fall. It’s a good thing that he brought a high-power flashlight; otherwise this would’ve been just the worst. Wandering around the area with the light, he checked every nooks and empty room for any sign of junkies or the equivalent. Just as he’s about to be done with the area, he heard the clopping sound of footsteps echoing right behind him. He turned around and pointed the flashlight in the direction where the sound came from and place his hand on his weapon holster:
“Who’s there?” he said with a soft tone so that whoever make that sound doesn’t view him as a threat, “identify yourself.”

The sound of footsteps immediately came to a stop as Milo spoke. A moment of silence, and then an older and obviously male voice quietly responded. "Okay, okay, I'm coming out."
A man stepped into the light. Not the kind of person one would have expected to find here, either: he wore a clean-button up shirt and black pants, dark hair neatly combed back from a middle-aged forehead. He looked more like one of the rich businessmen of the Isle than a punk or drug dealer. His hands were in his pockets, but as he stepped forwards he brought them out and turned them towards Milo, palms open to make it clear he wasn't armed. "Evening, officer. No need to be alarmed, I don't have anything to hide. Name's Wesley, Wesley Owen." He gestured towards his pockets. "I have ID, if you want it."
He seemed a little wary, glancing at Milo's hand where it lay close to the gun, but started to relax a little after a moment. "So they got you patrolling out here, huh? Can't say I envy you, it's tough being out here on your own." He gave a mock shiver. "Place is creepy, right?"

Milo let out a minor sigh of relief when the source of the noise seems to be just a man in his business suit. His other hand still remained on his holster however; one shouldn’t be too trusting to anyone so quickly, especially in a city notorious for people with super power. The fact that this guy wore this kind of clothing in this place is already setting off some alarm. He took a few step closer to the man in order to shine his flashlight better on his face:
“Alright then, Wesley, show me your ID if you can; just hold it out next to your face so I can see.”
He then pointed his light to get a better sight at the man from head to toe. Just from his outfit alone, this guy is already stood out enough; the fact that he was hiding earlier was also quite worrisome.
“Would you mind telling me what a guy like you are doing here, Wesley? I’ll agree with you that this place is creepy, so why are you here?”

Nodding quickly, Wesley reached into one pocket and pulled out an expensive-looking leather wallet, flipping it open to reveal a clearly-displayed driver's license, which he held near his face as instructed. It was hard to read everything on it without examining it up close, but the face and name seemed to match, and there were no obvious signs of forgery or foul play. Apparently, this man was exactly who he said he was.
After a moment, he closed his wallet and tucked it away again, still smiling. "Of course. I suppose anyone wandering about HappyWorld must look a bit suspicious. Don't worry, though, I'm not here for me." He glanced about, as if afraid someone might be listening, then took a step closer, voice lowering. "If you don't mind, officer, I'd prefer that you keep this confidential, but... I'm looking for my daughter." His smile had faded, and now his brow was creased with worry, making him suddenly look quite a bit older. "You know how kids can be, teenage rebellions and all. I don't mind them getting out for a little adventure, but there's times they go too far- drugs, vandalism, sucking up to supers, that kind of thing. My Julia's a sweet girl, but I found out recently that she's been, well, hanging out with the wrong sort of people. I'm sure you know the kind of people I mean."
He sucked in a long breath. "She's been coming home less and less, and I heard that her and some of her... 'pals' sometimes roamed around the old fairgrounds in the evenings, getting up to who-knows-what. I'm worried about her, really worried. Thought maybe if I could find her I might be able to put an end to all this, or at least make sure she's okay, but..." He shrugged. "Guess I don't know this place very well. Haven't caught any sign of her at all." He paused. "If you don't mind me asking, officer, did you see anyone else around here, before you found me?"

Milo looked carefully at the ID that the man showed him in order to compare his face between the two. Once he confirmed its authentication, his other hand feel more at ease as it move away from the holster. Either this man is a very talented liar or he’s telling the truth, he’s still an unarmed civilian at the moment.
He listened carefully as the man’s story and his daughter’s description. In a way, he could understand a parent’s fear of losing their child. In order to familiarize himself in the ECPD, Milo spent his time reading the police record, and most of them are very tragic indeed. Just in the past ten months, this city suffered from multiple super-related incidents and two dragon-attacks. The dragon deal the most damage to the city as a whole, with countless people lose their home and loves one, even some reported missing and hasn’t been found.
Looking back at the man who're looking for his daughter in this abandon amusement park, he couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy toward him.
“I’m sorry, but you’re the first person that I met tonight.” He said to the man, “I know you’re worried for her, but you must understand that this place is not safe for you.”
Milo looked around the park for a moment while keeping his flashlight on the man. He hasn't done patrolling the area for any junkies yet, so this place is still not safe for a civilian. If his story is true and that his daughter is hanging around the "wrong" crowd, then perhaps there's still a chance of finding her in here. This is only a speculation; he only hope that she didn't get herself involve in the notorious Pandaemonium gang, or any small gang operate in the city in general:
“Do you happen to have a picture of her with you? I promise I’ll go look for her; I’ll personally escort her home myself if I have to. As for you, Wesley, you should return home; this place is not safe for a civilian as yourself.”

When Milo confirmed he hadn't seen anyone, Wesley simply nodded and let out a quiet sigh, as if he'd expected the answer. "Right. I know I might get mugged or something out here, but, y'know, I felt like I had to do something." He looked almost guilty about it. On one hand, he didn't want to be here, but on some level he felt he had to.
He shook his head at the mention of a picture, but his face lit up, disappointment replaced by a hopeful smile. "Oh, uh- I don't have a picture, didn't bring my phone, and she's hard to pin down..." He stopped, thinking for a moment. "Blue eyes, same skin color as me. Long hair, and she dyes it blue. You'll know her by her clothes, though. She likes to dress in black, has this thing almost like a costume she wears when she'd out on her, uh, escapades. A kid thing, I think, imitating Supers or something. Don't approve of it myself, but it's been kind of a fad after that Dragon footage a couple months back, the one they called Bokor. Might help with recognizing her."
A pause, for just a moment. "That's all I can give you for now. If you have a personal phone number, though, I might be able to send you a picture at some point." He extended a hand. "Thanks for this, officer. I won't stick around any longer- like you said, it's not safe -but at least now I'll know that something's being done."

Milo let out a sigh of relief when Wesley finally saw reason to leave this to the police matter. He listened carefully at his description of his daughter, though it would be a lot better looking for her with a photo rather than using his mental image. The fact that she decided to imitate a super is a bit worrisome to say the least; kids these day sure looks up to the super as some type of hero, even when most of them are quite unstable and dangerous to the public as the dragon.
“That would be quite helpful if you can find a photo, though I would suggest giving the photo to the office rather than send them to me. The place is still unsafe, so let me escort you back to your car.”
Milo then got closer to the man, finally pointed the flashlight away from him:
“When you send her photo to the precinct, please leave your contact information so we can call you. We’ll let you know when we found your daughter, you have my word.”

"Right, I'll do that... thanks again for your help." There was something a little off about Wesley's response, a hint of disappointment at Milo's insistence that he contact the precinct rather than the officer himself, but he made no further comment on it. Instead, he fell into line with Milo and walked quietly by his side as they passed through the eerie shadows of the old amusement park, the once-bright attractions now cloaked in darkness, like rotted metal corpses just waiting to rise up and devour them both. There was something very much off about this place, about everything, but Wesley didn't seem afraid in the slightest- in fact his expression was clouded by nostalgia. "I remember when this place was open, you know. Had some fun times here back in the day. Damn shame what happened to it, damn shame." The words were partly addressed to Milo, but partly to himself as well. "The world shouldn't have dark places like this in it. It's not right." It wasn't just nostalgia in his tone, but something else, a kind of dull undertone, like he'd repeated the same words a thousand times before and could say them without thinking. All the same, he wasn't doing anything strange, and short of any intervention by Milo or outside forces they'd progress unimpeded.
After a while, they reached the edges of the park, and the night widened out before them, the moon seeming brighter now without the looming structures to obscure its light. There were two cars parked on a road nearby, one the vehicle Milo had driven here in, the other one a sleek silver car some distance behind it. "That's mine," Wesley confirmed, pointing at it, "think I'll be safe now, officer." He looked at Milo's car for a moment, as if daydreaming, then seemed to snap out of it. "Uh, nice ride you got yourself!" With a little wave, he strode past it and towards his own car. "Good luck out there. Hope you don't run into too much trouble!"
