Eve leaned back in her chair again, enough to raise the front two legs off the ground, and folded her arms. Her expression wasn't like the last couple of times though. She closed her eyes, and her lips curled into an almost serene (albeit still a bit on the smug side) smile. At this point, he understood. Whether he was still arguing because he disliked her or because he wanted to keep his easy, laid-back and lazy lifestyle she wasn't sure, but it didn't matter. As long as he understood, if he had the will it would drastically increase the odds of him doing something. If he didn't, then she would make sure that this knowledge would make him realize exactly what kind of useless scum he was.
"Well yeah, if you play by their rules of course you're going to lose," she waved her hand dismissively. "You're fighting the people that made the rules, there's no way they're going to make rules that let them lose. You have to make your own. Show up in their office every Monday. Key their car every Tuesday. Break their windows every Wednesday. Tear apart their office every Thursday. Be a constant thorn in their side. But also be aware of their rules, and which ones you can exploit. I can get away with being a little bit more aggressive, but even some nobody like you could do the same thing without getting expelled as long as nothing you did was on campus."
Eve opened her eyes, once again looking straight at Kasty, and chuckled lightly. "It's amazing. You seem to understand, yet you want to come up with any excuse you can to keep going as you're going. Can you imagine how much easier all of this would be if you could actually count on everyone to fight with you? Then it wouldn't just be you, it'd be you and 100 other people, or possibly more. Much more difficult to laugh away. That idea, the idea that people are powerless and wouldn't accomplish anything anyway, is an idea that they perpetuate. It makes their job a lot easier. Even individually, people can do a lot more than they think they can. Sure, they might see people like me and think I have this huge advantage, but I don't. My name has no recognition. It's my father's name that everyone recognizes. At best, it gives me a small defensive edge, so I can afford to be a little more aggressive, as I said. My family's money, make no mistake it's not mine, means I have more time because I don't need to hold a job just yet, but that's the only advantage it gives me. Saying that people are somehow powerless is a grave insult to everyone. They can only ignore people if people let them ignore people.
"Oh, and I understand completely that people don't avoid doing something because they're ignorant and stupid. That was directed at you specifically," she pointed and Kasty. "Most people avoid it because they lack the will. The will to be inconvenienced, the will to be hated, the will to handle the backlash that'll come against them, the will to face danger...Most people are simply weak. Do I understand? Maybe. Do I care? No, I have no sympathy for any of them. If you're not willing to fix your problems then you deserve to have them," she paused for a moment. "That time the you was general, not you specifically, though it applies to you too. Their fight, my fight, will indeed be completely thankless. It'll take a lot of effort, it'll stress me out, it'll make me angry, constantly, and even if I succeed, most people probably won't notice. While I'm fighting people will see me as unreasonable, as a rich bitch who's just mad that her problems can't be solved by throwing money at it," she paused for a moment, staring directly at Kasty, "but that doesn't change that it's the right thing to do. All refusing to fight would do is put that on other peoples' shoulders, just like most people do to me. It would actively make the world worse. My life might be easier, but I think an easy life overrated anyway."
