Name: Avaline Ophilia
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Occupation: Student at Gardner High
Face Claim: Tateyama Ayano from Kagerou Project
Appearance: Avaline is small. Not just because she stands at 4 foot 9 inches, or because of her skin-and-bones build, but she’s also made small by the way she holds herself. She seems to sink into her already small figure, and her voice carries about as far as a softly pushed brick does. This is made up in some a part by the large and thick clothing she wears. Easily cold, Avaline is rarely seen with much skin showing, and never without a scarf and some kind of long sleeves at farthest in her bag.
Skills:
Studying: With a near perfect memory for information and the ability to focus down on a subject for hours at a time (even ignoring food and sleep), Avaline can ace a difficult test with only one night of preparation. If she wants to know something, she can (and will) search until she finds it out.
Anatomy: This is Avaline’s favorite field of study. She’s spent days pouring over anatomy textbooks, and has a healthy amount of knowledge in biology to compliment it. Avaline could tell you in detail where every part of the body is, what it does, how it works, and what it’s made of.
Collecting: Avaline loves her collections. Mostly she likes old books, but the lengths she’ll go to obtain them are astounding. If she was into iPhones, she’d be one of those people who camped outside the building for days so as to be one of the first - if not the first - person to obtain the newest model.
Personality:
Avaline is not a people person. For one, she has trouble properly communicating what she’s thinking to others. It always sounds better in her head, and just when she needs certain words, her inner dictionary decides now’s as good a time as any for a vacation. She tries to sound important and smart, but unless she’s got time to pound out exactly what she wants to say, it tends to come out as awkward or even disjointed. If she takes the time to think out her speech, then the moment’s lost, isn’t it? It’s all about that timing.
Oftentimes Avaline will seem lost her own thoughts. She has a tendency to be more occupied with her own thoughts than whatever’s going on around her, and is far more interested with her own happenings than those of other people. She enjoys being in the spotlight, no matter the reason, and relishes the moments she’s given any respect. If someone judged her as self centered, they wouldn’t be wrong.
She’s also of the suspicious sort. It takes a lot to gain her trust, and it takes little to lose it. Avaline doesn’t like authority in the least and would say anyone with authority is more likely to be working against her than for her. She’ll go out of her way to spite such people (in some part because she likes the attention), the government especially. In fact, she’s so certain the government is antagonizing her in some sort or another (and quick to agree to any evidence supporting that) that she borders on a conspiracy theorist.
At the same time, she’s very hardworking. If she sets her mind to accomplish something, she will, no matter what opposition is in her way. If it means she has to work without sleep for a week, she will. If it means she’s got to talk with people, those people are going to have the heck talked out of them. Avaline rather likes life as a wallflower, but she’s come to find that you’ve got to be able to communicate well and form bonds with people if you’re going to get anywhere in the world. She’s been pushing herself into social situations despite her better judgement and comfort in order to develop those skills and relations. However, thoroughly introverted, she can’t say she doesn’t prefer spending time alone, or at the very least in the company of others who are quiet.
Avaline is a thoughtful individual, the kind who will spend a good deal of time thinking about the tough questions and reading what others have said on the subject. While she doesn’t much care for small talk, she’ll gladly discuss the more in depth topics such as philosophy and morals, even knowing she may not be agreed with. When planning, she observes and considers her actions before making them.
Though she’ll say otherwise if pressed, Avaline has a poor moral compass. She cares little about the pains of others - that’s their problem, and she has plenty of her own to take care of. She simply doesn’t have time for charity. Still, she holds her friends and those useful to her close, and will do what she can to help them and maintain their relationship. She also holds a controversial opinion on supers that she’s not really afraid to share (as long as you’re not too much bigger than her); she sees superpowers as the next evolution in humanity, and the fact that society rejects them is because they’re afraid of inevitable change.
