It was the perfect night for a bit of fun. At least, it was for Canary. The super was equipped with multiple cans of spray paint, covering some of the walls of nearby buildings in bright splashes of color that could open people's eyes if they only looked.
Super heroes? Super zeroes! The words were written in a sunny yellow bubble font, splashes of white and bright turquoise punctuating the triple underline under the last word. There could never be enough emphasis. Not far off, Rise above the supers! was sprawled across a large portion of a corporate business, fancy lettering having "Rise" curve above the rest.
Mundies for life! That one even had a large heart to accompany its graffiti, a couple blocks over so she could finish her work. Tossing the emptied cans, Canary takes a moment to look over her work, smirking as she regards the last piece with something that might even be affection.
But she still had the night ahead of her - and more cans of paint to go. She hums to herself as she moves along the alleys, looking for the perfect spot for her next piece.

Downtown was a looming maw of concrete and steel in the bowels of Emerald city, all around skyscrapers reached up into the moon lite sky like finger bones grasping at the heavens. Or so that was Knife's beliefs as he calmly prowled the roof of a three story supermarket centered within the neighborhood. The man was supposed to be watching the streets, or maybe breaking into one of the many technology firms scattered throughout the downtown area, but tonight was a beautiful night and the masked phantom found himself constantly gazing up into the air. No stars could breach Emerald city's skyscrapers and light pollution, but the bright moon overhead could be seen easily... for Knife it was enough.
Lost in thought Knife eventual caught a sound on the wind, some kind of high pressure air. Abandoning his lovely view the masked man circled around the supermarkets roof until he spotted the source of the noise. Across the street a colorfully dressed individual was spray painting the side of a corporate building... If Knife remembered correctly it was the head quarters of a natural gas mining company. Knife cared nothing for the company, but deciding he should take a look into this vandal across the way the man leaped from the edge of his elevated hideaway.
Scaling down the side of the building Knife watched as the tagger moved as well, the art became evident as Knife shadowed after the color full vandal. Various propaganda against Supers, support for regular humans and citizens, all stylized in bright paints hued in yellows, whites, and baby blues. The more Knife read the more interested he became in this mystery artist.
Reaching a set of alley ways with winding turns and tight corners Knife almost lost the tagger, until she started to hum. Following after the soft song Knife kicked of walls and scrambled across fire escapes to catch up to the woman, she had gained ground when the man had stopped to examine her art. Finally rounding a corner Knife saw the woman up close, even if it was from behind.
"So, where you going to tag next?" he asked stepping out of the shadows.

Deciding on what to do to call out the super villains that tore up the city was more difficult; they didn't rhyme quite as easily as hero could. Ideas play through her mind, each as tempting as the last and as unacceptable as the one that would come after. Finally settling on something a touch more vague, Canary begins her hunt with renewed vigor, humming growing faint as she focuses on her next target. There was plenty to choose from, as was her motivation, even if other civilians would still say she was committing a crime.
Her sounds stop altogether at the sound of a voice behind her, looking over her shoulder to see who had taken an interest in her. The most notable sight in the dark was the mask, a hazy pale white that reflected the glow of the moon. She turns to face the person halfway, an uncertain gaze on her face as she tilts her head to the side. This could certainly be interesting, if not foolish.
"Not sure yet," she admits with a wry smile, nodding to a building further down. "There's a bank over there that would make a nice target, but I'm an open-minded girl."

The woman turned to face Knife, at least partially when his voice alerted her to his presence. The woman's colorful attire certainly stood out like numerous other Super hero and villain costumes, yet she had not dropped into a stance that signaled combat. More important was the fact that Knife did not recognize the stranger, she fit no profile of any Super Knife had ever heard of since he had begun roaming the night. A look of uncertainty crossed the woman's features but it quickly faded into a smile.
The artists reply brought a mirthful smirk to the face under the mask, Knife didn't quite understand what this woman hoped to accomplish with petty vandalism, but the man was impressed with her willingness to speak out against the Supers who plagued Emerald City with danger and fear... even the famous Bulwark didn't seem to understand the damage they wrought upon the general populace simply by existing. Of course Knife's expression was hidden by his mask, revealing nothing, but the shrouded man did tilt his own head to peer off to the bank.
"A fine target, but it has camera's watching over it. Your image would be caught, becoming an image linked with crime." Knife replied, his tone though soft as a whisper hinted at no sign of disapproval. The man merely wished to learn how far this woman was willing to go to have her message heard.
Calmly stepping free of the shadows Knife moved closer to the woman, though he still remained a respectful distance. "That said I have always been partial to making an image grand... something no one can overlook." Knife said pointing up into the night sky, if the woman choose to look where he pointed her gaze would be treated to the Emerald Security and Engineering HQ. One of the most profitable corporations in the city, not to mention the tallest building around for miles.

The seconds that passed after her explanation turned into a guessing game, leaving Canary to try and gauge her audience's reaction with what little the dark outfit offered in the night. Her gaze flicks off towards the bank again as the figure nods, then returns to the feature that stood out the most in the moonlight.
"Most places do." She nods in agreement, seemingly unperturbed by the notion of being caught. "But if I leave them only in alleys, then not many people will see it." That was the point, after all. Why let a message fall on deaf ears when you could sing it from the rooftops in the most colorful fashion possible.
She watched him as he approached, mindful of the fact that this was how some amazing showdowns started...or some well placed assaults. Yet the humor in heir tone suggested otherwise. They seemed almost...amused? Intrigued, maybe, but it doesn't matter. The offer he presents is enough to bring a mischievous glint to her smile. She looks up when he points, connecting his intent with the location with a muffled chuckle.
"I like the way you think. Here." She tosses him one can of paint, then another, assuming he can handle keeping track of them as well as going up.

The tagger seemed unafraid of Knife, something the black draped figure was rather pleased about. This little bird played a dangerous game in a city of Supers, publicly disgracing and ridiculing them with her graffiti. The real aspect about this woman that caught Knife's attention however was her conviction, the strangely dressed woman knew she would be seen, knew she would likely be hunted, but to her it seemed she was more afraid of her message falling on death ears than she was of contending with cops and Supers.
The woman's muffled laugh when she looked upon Knife's suggested target confirmed everything the man needed to know about this one, she laughed in the face of challenge and stood for a cause. Knife didn't need anything else to decide that he liked this stranger. Two cans of paint came sailing his way than, it wasn't a attack merely a friendly toss of items exchanging hands. Cloaks and coats parted as hands emerged to carefully pluck the to spray cans out of the air revealing the green inner lining of Knife's clothes.
The paint cans quickly disappeared into the folds of Knife's several cloaks, discarded into hidden pockets that would hold them securely until the man had need of them. "Follow a lady up? Unless of course you need a ride?" Knife asked as his right hand reappeared from under his clothes, this time holding aloft a small, oddly shaped black gun tipped with a wicked looking claw. The strange weapon stayed lowered at Knife's side while his mask tilted upward, the man's hidden eyes searching for a good spot to start his trip up the building.

The rustling of fabric could be heard, but all Canary could see was the movement of fabric as the cans disappeared from sight. They didn't seem angered or upset with the words she left on the walls, not with the calm attitude that they carried. So were they not insulted, or did they just not care? Then again, perhaps they didn't consider themselves a hero or villain, and there was the fact that there was no obvious violence to her messages, though they might cause some.
"Hmmm, I think your way might be faster." Her smile lights up full force at the offer, complete with what she assumed was a grappling hook. Going that high up would require a lot of footwork for Canary on her own, and while she would accept the challenge, it would take away from the time she could use accomplishing her goal.
She may also be looking forward to a bit of a thrill with that ride.
"So what do I get to call my new accomplice?" She takes another look at the wall, already thinking of the adjustments she's going to make now that her canvas is much bigger. It needs to be eye-catching, she knows, but nothing that can't be finished in case they get caught.

The street artists face lit up at Knife's offer to give the woman a ride up the side of Emerald Security and Engineering HQ. The masked man stepped up beside the woman and slipped an arm around her waist, his pale mask angled upward to find a proper position to secure his line too. "I never really cared enough to name myself, the police dubbed me 'Knife' however." he replied with no intent to explain the name. Knife had not revealed any of the blades he used for combat yet, and he intended not to if possible.
Finding a good spot Knife fired his grappling claw with a muffled bang, audible within a few feet yet the noise died on the air beyond such a range. Soaring high the claw easily cut into the brick walls of the building beside them, Knife would need to start from the alleyways lining structures before he would have the reach to make it up E.S.E.'s tall walls. "Hang on." was all the man said before tightening his grip, the pull of his gun easily lifted Knife and the woman speedily into the air.
Within moments the pair were four story's high and Knife had no intention of stopping anytime soon, the man would need to switch and re-fire his line again soon. "What do I call you? Artist or Messenger seems to simple." Knife asked as they swung through the air, his vision fell upon a small ledge outcropping. The landing would be tight, but it was enough room for both of them to stand while Knife launched out a second line.

"I see." She hadn't noticed any, but that hardly meant much when considering the various layers of dark fabric that he wore. "Well, welcome to a night on artist's alley, Knife." The name rang a bell in the back of her mind, a fact that bothered her more than she thought, but discovering how could wait until later. There had been no violence between them, and Canary hoped it would remain that way.
Tensing at the muffled bang, she nods at his warning, arm tightening around her before they begin to soar upward. Her breath catches in her throat from excitement; the ride is way better than what she would have had to rely on. Between that and the narrow landing that lay ahead of them, she was enjoying herself more than she probably should, or perhaps that opinion was relative.
"Aww, that's sweet." She chuckles and lands without error. Tight landings are familiar to her, and her balance remains stable. "You can call me Canary."

"Artist's Alley..." Knife mumbled absently as the pair sailed through the skies on Knife's private zip line. Next came the landing, Knife was used to such confined safe zones when he swung from place to place around parts of Emerald City. Unaware of his new companions abilities The masked man was prepared to help hold the goggled woman in place when they made their sudden stop. The masked man quickly learned that his help was not required however as the woman touched down in full control of her balance, Knife was surprised to witness the woman's grace, but her being capable meant it would be easier for the man to reload.
Slipping his arm from around his companion's waist Knife allowed his grappling gun to free itself of the stone and reel back into place. "Canary? Well little bird I have never heard of you before. Although I guess with all the new paintings around the block I'll start hearing your name a lot." Knife replied firing his grapple again into the night sky, this time the pair would reach up to E.S.E.'s seventh floor; easily high enough for any message to be seen all across downtown.
"What do you plan to write?" was all Knife asked as he wrapped his arm about the woman again and stepped over the edge, with a swift tug the pair swung in a wide arc as they rapidly ascended into the air. Before long the pair were high enough to see several blocks into the distance, the glow of city lighting kept the darkness of night at bay, casting a gloom upon the streets below. Reaching another ledge they landed, the stone stuck out less than a full foot, but it would offer enough space for Canary to work.

Canary's lips quirk as she lands, feeling Knife adjust to try and help her keep her balance, rather than let her topple to the ground below in a crunchy mess. She turns her head and waits for him to dislodge the grappling claw for the next stage of their journey.
"Well, fully it's Canary Claw." She gives him a sweet smile and nods. "True. There seem to bbe quite a few new faces. I'll have to make sure you don't forget mine." Her gaze follows the grappling hook as it soars into the night sky, now able to pull them to a height that would allow them to write a message for the world to see.
"Humanity will rise up," she reveals as his arm warps around her for the next half of their trip up. She wondered how the return route would be, adding, "with wings around the letters." Finally, they land, and she pulls out a couple of cans as she mentally roughs out the space she wants to use for the message. There's certainly plenty of it, and she starts to outline the size of the wings and letters before glancing at Knife.
"You don't care? As a super, I mean." It had been eating at her for a while, even if she was willing to accept the help. Perhaps he was just amused.

The bird gave Knife her full title, along with a friendly smile and nod. Funny enough she was probably the first person ever since donning the mask to give Knife and motion that could be viewed as friendly, or even non-threatening. During the quick ride up into the glorious heights of the night sky Canary Claw revealed her intent, in the end it was a simple message she wished to portray but perhaps that was for the best. Nothing cut more to the heart than something short, sweet, and memorable.
When they landed Canary went about her task with efficiency, Knife merely cleaned up his grapple line and watched the woman work. The cloaked man had never really given street tagging much thought as a form of true artwork, but the way Canary went at her craft, carefully weighing options and sizing out space. This woman was as much a artist as any painter or sculpture, only she made art with the city itself instead some blank canvas or hunk of slate. While Canary sprayed she turned to ask Knife a question, it was the question he had been expecting all night.
"No actually I care quite a bit, everyone hides their own secrets Canary." Knife answered, purposely leaving things a little vague. Pulling out the two cans Canary had passed over to him earlier, glancing at the labels the masked man offered the paint back to its rightful owner. "Lets just say humanity taking a stand is in my interests same as you."

Perhaps due to her anticipation of being caught sooner rather than later, Canary's lettering wouldn't appear to be very elaborate. Then again, from this height, details would be lost without much effort. It might even have been her interest in her audience, pausing at the sound of rustling fabric and the soft hiss of paint within their cans so that she could catch the additional containers. Slipping them back into the loops she'd carried them in on her own, she looks at Knife at first as he speaks, then back to her work when he mentions it. She grins and nods with a chuckle, going back to painting the large letters.
"Cryptic, eh? Well, sounds like a good enough reason to me." She doesn't respond to the comment about secrets beyond that. Knowing where humanity stood meant knowing where they would have to stand in turn. It was like an endless dance, and violent one at their current point in history.
"I suppose it interests everyone in some way."

Knife found that he couldn't disagree with Canary's point of view. The masked man had been cryptic because he wasn't one to simply reveal secrets on a first date. In the end however Canary Claw didn't push him and he didn't offer challenge. Instead he merely watched the woman finish her work, it was good that she seemed to be working fast because time was against them while they stayed on corporate property.
Scanning the ground below Knife did spot lights floating along the edge of the building, likely security guards doing their rounds. They weren't enough of a threat for the pair to worry about so high up, the pair of vandals would only have to be concerned if an actual alarm was raised.
"So... Why Canary Claw? I'm under a strong impression that you can't exactly fly." Knife asked, he wasn't the best at small talk, but the question had been hanging in his mind since the woman had given him a name. In Knife's case the media had named him, and he had sorta just let it happen. Not this woman however, her name was definitely her own.

Canary keeps her focus on her work, but habit has taught her to keep an ear out for any potential trouble. Despite being so high up, the habit stays, and she continues working at the quick pace, white bold letters outlined in blue before she pulls out a can of yellow. Her progress slows a moment at his question, which is rewarded with another quiet laugh.
"Flying is what we make of it, just don't ask me to demonstrate on the way down." Amused, she continues. "Besides all the yellow? Canaries can do more than just sing."
