Today was finally a time when Kaz could cut loose. At least as loose he could get with a contract like this. On the bright side, it sure beat being held back by Toko all the time. The guy knew how to handle a gun, but he was a hopeless bore most of the time. So, Kaz decided to try something new. It wasn't much, but at least it was something. There was some client from Malachite Isle that had a bone to pick, as well as a plentiful supply of disposable income. Apparently, his daughter was dating a no-good street tough from the slums. Why she would do so was beyond Kaz, but he was there to fulfill the contract, not ask questions about things he couldn't care less about. Now, while this client wanted this relationship ended (forcibly), he didn't desire a full on hit. Instead, Kaz would swoop in, beat the stuffing out of this prospective son-in-law and force him to break things off without drawing any suspicions that the client (or Kaz) was involved. Simple stuff, and it provided some easy money, as well as a break from having to deal with Toko. When he finally found a man who matched the picture he was given, Kaz was pleasantly surprised. The guy had an entire gang with him, each looking hard as nails. This was going to be fun. The ensuing brawl was satisfying, but not exactly the most entertaining one he'd been in. Well, beggars can't be choosers. Kaz didn't even use his powers or knives, pummeling the target's friends with his bare hands, as well as his forehead, legs and even teeth. Eventually, the only one left was the target. Soon enough, he was forced at knife point to call his girlfriend, tell her that things were over in the calmest voice he could muster in that situation and give a convincing reason for why he was breaking things off. This was looking to be a fairly simple job, as long as there were no surprises... Misty

Misty sighed as she sat on one of the huge shipping containers that had been dumped at the edge of the slums and turned into rain shelter for the homeless by some goody goody city official on an election year. Truthfully, she didn’t know why she was out tonight. Misty had been unable to sleep, and had decided that she wanted to go for a walk.
But people walking around in the middle of the night were often viewed with distaste. When Misty went for a walk, it was often on the rooftops, because there were no people to run it no up there, most of the time. A cool sea breeze was blowing in and she had stopped to sit and enjoy it. That was until she had heard the sound of a fight going down.
At first she thought that she would ignore it, but her sensitive ears picked up bones cracking as they broke, and she decided that she should at least go and see what was going on.
Not two blocks away from where she had been perched, she came across….a pile. A strange pile of unconscious people. Honestly from up here it looked as though someone had made a donut on the ground out of injured people. And in the middle of the donut was one very terrified young man that had very recently wet himself, and a big man in a sharp black suit that one could barely see, even in the dim, buzzing street light.
The young man was on the phone, breaking up with a girl, and he was doing so at knife point. The young man finished his call and fumbled, then dropped his phone.
Misty swung her legs over the edge of the roof and leaned forward, putting an elbow of one of her knees and leaning her head on her wrist. She piped up.
“If you're not careful there Mister, that poor kid is going to puke of you from pure anxiety.”

When the terrified punk finally broke things off officially, after an eternity of waiting for him to come up with some excuse, Kaz could hear loud wailing from the other side of the phone. Typical. She'd probably get over it in about a week. Maybe a little bit more. It wasn't any concern to him, really. The job was done and Kaz could get the other half of the paycheck for actually completing the job. It was quite the handsome sum, and Kaz was eager to collect. The client had also asked that he add insult to injury. In all honesty, Kaz didn't care too much for it, but a contract was a contract. He needed to force the guy to delete his (now-ex) girlfriend's number. The trembling buffoon obediently attempted to do so, but dropped the phone on the ground. Idiot.
It was then that Kaz suddenly heard a voice from above. Sounded like it belonged to a woman. Turning around, he caught sight of a figure sitting on a rooftop. In the dark, it was hard to make out any details, but from what he could see, she looked to be wearing a coat of some kind. On closer observation, he also noticed that she had a mask covering her face. Was this one of those 'Bulwark' clowns he had heard of? Or better yet, maybe it was one of those costumed criminals that pranced around the city in ridiculous outfits. Whatever she was, Kaz needed to be careful around this one. If she was a super, who knew what she could do?
Feigning relaxation, Kaz assumed a looser stance, as if letting his guard down. In reality, he was preparing to strike the moment he sensed hostility from this mystery woman. Shooting her a grin, Kaz shot out an inquiry. While his English wasn't perfect, it was decent enough to hold a normal conversation, "You have business here?"

There was no doubt in Misty’s mind that this big man was trying to play her a fool. Like she didn't know a thing or two about fighting. Ha! She thought to herself, briefly remembering the terror that had been her second martial arts instructors terrible training.
“That depends entirely on how you define business.” Misty chuckled loud enough for the man on the street below to hear. “Is it all the work they have now a days? Sending hitmen after punk boyfriends? That poor girl. If I where her, I probably strangle whoever paid for something like this.” Misty said a little too sweetly.
Misty smiled, but not that he could see. She dropped from the rooftop, hit the street with a roll, and popped up almost too fast for even a supers trained eyes to follow. She walked over to the nearest KOed teen thug and squatted, lifting his undoubtedly shattered left arm. She whistled before dropping the arm without cause and standing again
“No bad work, no bad at all. Though I can’t help but feel bad for them though. They ar little more than kids, and from the looks of it, they didn’t stand a chance.”
Misty’s walk was lazy, relaxed, almost uncaring, as she walked farther into the mess of thugs. Her shoulders were set softly, and she walked so quietly it would be impossible to hear her footsteps without some kind of hearing supplement. She stopped and nudged a particularly bloody young man with her foot, his face looking as though he had almost impaled his head on a solid metal object. Misty was sure that there wasn’t a bone in his face that was left intact.
“That's going to need surgery.”
She looked then directly at the big man in the black suit. Though all he would be able to see was her head turning, because no one could see anything beyond the dark blue hooded cloak she wore, its face hiding mask covered by a built in mask.
“Honestly, I was just out on a stroll. The rooftop sort, and I heard breaking bones. So I figured I’m come and see what the fuss was all about.”
Misty walked a little closer. At this point, if either one of them could reach out their arms and strike, easily at the other.
“He dialed the police you know, Mr…….”

There was something off about this stranger. The way she walked and just the way she carried herself in general made Kaz uneasy. She acted deceptively casual, but a snake was most dangerous when its victim doesn't expect the strike. She dropped and rolled easily with grace, signaling to Kaz that she was physically skilled to a certain extent, but he would have to figure out the details once he saw her in action more. While she maintained a friendly air, apparently caring little for the carnage, it was clear that it was a facade. It wasn't a matter of if one of them struck, rather, it was who would make the first move. What made Kaz even more suspicious was the fact that her face was hidden. He didn't trust anyone who he couldn't read, and she was a blank page.
The faceless woman observed the beaten gang members, commenting on the extent of their injuries. There were even a few compliments sent his way. Kaz did feel a little bit flattered, but not so much to the point he would actually let his guard down. Common tactic of the deceitful; shake your hand with one, stab you in the back with the other. He merely grunted in response, paying no mind to the injuries she described. He gave them a chance to back off, and they thought numbers would win the day like the idiot boys they were. Wasn't his fault they were too stupid to figure out when to fight and when not to.
His attention was suddenly drawn to the target when she alerted Kaz to the fact that the police were alerted. Damn, how did he miss that? Whipping around, Kaz tossed the boy to the ground as he attempted to make a quiet escape, before crouching down to shove his knife near the prone boy's eye, causing urine to pour from his trousers. Kaz was swift, each individual action being performed seamlessly in an instant. Grabbing the phone with his free hand, Kaz smashed it on the unfortunate kid's head as punishment for the transgression. Kaz made sure to keep his attention on the faceless woman all the while; it could have been a trick to get the first strike in. Kaz smirked and nodded at her, standing up while keeping a foot on the boy's stomach to keep him on the ground, "Thanks. And call me Kaz"

Misty sighed as Kaz gave the poor kid what would probably be the worst beating of his life. Then, keeping one hand free, she whipped a burn phone that had had its GPS card removed out from under her cloak. The phone had a scrambler programmed in, so every time she used to the police got a different number and a whacked location.
Misty kicked her voice up an octave and a half, and when she spoke, it sounded like she was an empty headed teenage girl.
“Yes, hello officer, I like, don’t have an emergency, but like, my boyfriend and my brother got in this huge fight, and like, I’m pretty sure one of them called the cops. It’s like, nothing, they are just really mad at each other. They aren’t like anywhere near each other, so like, it’s a fake call or whatever.” Misty listened to the other side of the phone. “Yes, I’m like really sure they aren’t anywhere near each other, and like, nobody needs to come cause it's just a stupid fake call.”
When the 911 responder on the other side confirmed that they wouldn’t be sending anyone, Misty thanked the lady for not adding to the drama and hung up the phone.
“Police, gotta love them. Sometimes they can be so stupid it hurts. We should probably leave this area though.” Misty commented, her voice returning to the way it had sounded before. Misty folded her arms loosely and leaned heavily on one leg, making her hip jet out.
“So Mr. Kaz, since I have little intention of letting you out of my sight, where are we going?”

The faceless women was still maintaining that shameless charade of faux friendliness. Perhaps if she kept it up for long enough, Kaz may have actually started believing it. She didn't seem disturbed at all by the violent display, maybe she was even amused by it a little bit. The fact that she wasn't trying to bring him to 'justice' or something for beating up this poor sap was a convincing sign she wasn't Bulwark. Or she was just really good at playing this long game of deception. Kaz had to admit he was getting a little tired of this game, but it was slightly entertaining. Better than hanging around Toko. At least she was interesting
She even had the good grace to divert the police away from the scene, buying him more time to make his escape. The voice she put on warranted a chuckle from Kaz, but he still maintained his alertness. Once she was done with her call, it was time for Kaz to make his escape. With the faceless woman in tow, apparently. While he would have been annoyed if any person tried to follow him, she intrigued him. Not many women he knew were so relaxed and nonchalant whenever he showed his violent side, let alone pay him a compliment because of it. But she was still a potential threat.
'Away from here'. Kaz considered merging into the shadows and swiftly collecting his paycheck, but first things first...
'Its rude to ask someone their name without giving your own...'

Misty smiled under her hood. This man didn’t trust her one bit. But that was alright. She extended a hand to shake. If he took it, he would find her handshake firm, but not threatening. “The One that Walks in the Mist. My friends call me Misty.” She paused for a moment. “Or Althia, if you prefer.”

The One that Walks in the Mist, huh? That was quite the mouthful, so even if Kaz wasn't her 'friend', he would settle for Misty. Rolled off the tongue better. She really didn't expect him to remember all of that, did she? Looking at her extended hand for a while, he wondered if she had some sort of weird power and was trying to trick him into falling under its effects. Deciding that it was probably safe, he shook her hand with his free one, making sure his grip on the knife was as firm as ever. Kaz looked around for a bit, before settling on making it out of here. Turning around, he then looked back at Misty, "We going?"

Misty was pleased that he had decided to shake her hand. She liked, to some extent, being friendly with all types of people. She did a silly mock bow.
“Please lead the way good sir.”
The entire time that they had been having this conversation, some of the more serious injuries among the gang members had been slowly healing to a less fatal state. The great thing about Misty's healing was that unless she did something to counter attack it, who ever she healed fell into a semi-coma like state for a while. The kiddie gang members won’t die anymore, but they would have scars to remind them not to mess with the big dogs.

Kaz couldn't help but chuckle a bit at her little show of sarcastically bowing down. She was certainly keeping up the act well enough. Perhaps he would humor her rather than fight just yet. Since she was following him, going back to the safehouse was not an option. She could relay that information to her friends, leading to a potential disaster. Instead, he would lead her on a kind of wild goose chase to throw her off the scent, and maybe test her powers, until she probably got bored and decided to leave. How long it would take eluded Kaz, but he decided to try it out anyway.
"Try to keep up", Kaz then suddenly merged with the shadows of the night, his form within the darkness subtly standing out. He would then go off towards the docks, maintaining a slow enough speed to allow her to follow, but fast enough to make it convincing.

Did he think she was a child? Going so slowly? As he headed off towards the Docks Misty slipped around a building and appeared directly in front of him in his path.
“Really?” She snorted.

As he prowled through the shadows in an attempt to lose her, he was too busy observing the surroundings instead of right in front of him. So imagine his surprise when she intercepted him. She was smart. Or just a lot faster than she looked. Looks like he wouldn't be able to shake her off so easily. Coming out of the shadows, Kaz paced about, gauging Misty. What other skills were she hiding under her sleeve? She didn't seem to be the type to show off all of her abilities to a possible enemy. Perhaps he could coax her eventually.
"Why're you so interested in me anyways?"

Misty wished he would have jumped. It would have been amusing. She shrugged heavy enough for him to see.
“I don’t know. Though I seem to have a knack for running into dangerous people as of late.” Misty laughed.
“That and it’s not every day a girl gets to meet a guy that beats the shit out of some girls thug boyfriend so her daddy will pay him.” Misty wondered how long it would take her to annoy this man “Where are you planning to go anyway? There are very few warehouses on the Docks that aren’t under lock and key and the protection of the nice guard doggies.”

With the amount of time she had been playing at the whole 'just someone interested in a stranger they just met' act, Kaz was halfway convinced that she was completely genuine. Well, maybe a little bit more than halfway. She had about five different opportunities to make the first move, and yet she didn't even show a single sign of hostility. Perhaps she was one of the few genuine people that lived in this city. While it wasn't safe enough to completely let his guard down, he could afford to be a little bit more relaxed. Even when she lightly insulted his contract, Kaz merely shrugged his shoulders. He never cared what people thought about what he did, so why start now? "Business is business". She then asked about his destination, a fairly suspicious question to ask a stranger. Kaz answered gruffly, giving as vague an answer as he could have thought, "Away from here"
