The slums had been scarred in ways that would take years to fully heal, at best. But the scars would likely remain forever in some form. Even as buildings are eventually replaced, streets fixed, and lives mourned. It had been days since the attack had happened but Gilgamesh was still weakened, his body was stiff, internal wounds persisted no matter how much his body and Supers tried to heal the wounds quickly, it seemed that the Dragon's smoke had wreaked enough havoc on his system that there was just going to be an element of time needed for his recovery.
But, he was recovering. And that meant he was out once more. No amount of protest would dissuade him. He would not allow himself to stay isolated and sitting on his hands. He needed to train, he needed to act. And he needed to grow. The Dragon attack had made that clear. Cetus had been unworthy, but there would surely be more in his path. And if not Dragons there were other threats looming on the horizon. His path was one of danger and death but now he was at a crossroad and he needed to reflect upon his situation so he could choose the path ahead.

Gilgamesh's peace is short lived as several knifes are launched at him from behind!

The slicing through air was the only warning that Gilgamesh had of his impending death. But it was enough for him to shift to the side, spinning to face the direction that the attacks had come from. However, in his weakened state he was moving noticeably slower and the final blade found purchase in his left shoulder. A solid blow causing him to grunt out in pain before ripping the blade out of his flesh, tossing it to the side as he scanned the area for his attacker.
"That the best you got? Coward."
He spat the word at the dagger that clattered on the ground as he shifted into a defensive stance, listening and looking for a sign of the next strike. Every attack had a tell. He just needed to pick it up before it struck.

His words are greeted with silence as Gil listens for signs of the next attack, the world still for a moment. As his attack made their move, his senses would be able to pick up on the movements, he would hear the near silent shift of footsteps against the ground to his right; their position had changed after the blades had been thrown.
Then the blurred form of a person with light hair was visible as a young woman appeared from the new direction, aiming a turning kick at his exposed back and side!

That was all he needed to know. He turned to face the blurred form, catching the kick with his injured arm with a wince. He'd yank backward on the leg to pull her closer and hinder her balance as he shifted his leg to trip her grounding leg out from under her so he could slam her into the ground.
If she looked she'd notice his skin was ashen pale, almost like he hadn't seen the sun in days, his cheeks were still showing signs of gauntness though they were starting to fill out again the last few days. All in all it looked like he'd been deathly ill or something recently. Though she likely wouldn't have much time to study him on her way to the ground unless she had a clever move.

There was no clever move. Certainly not one that worked in his opponent's favor as she found herself rushing towards the ground with him breaking her balance. She tried to reverse the counter, but having a solid, if sickly, Gilgamesh on you can present some interesting issues.
"When the hell did you get so weak, Gilgamesh?" Her attack may not have been perfect, and she made note of the need for improvement by far, but this was almost insulting. If she'd gotten a look at him from the front, she'd have forgone the sneak attack.

"You can talk shit after you are inside a Dragon."
He'd roll his eyes, shoving against her while she was pinned for good measure before letting go and backing off. He was done now, she'd lost. Even while being a coward. Still relying on sneak attacks and her little weapons. But when confronted head on she fell. How typical of her.

Scowling when he puts on the added pressure to prove his point, she rolls over to sit up and retrieve her blades, eying him at the consideration of a dragon.
"Says the one who looks like shit." She doesn't bash the fact he took on a dragon, however. Gilgamesh didn't make stuff like that up. he was too much a stick up someone's arse for that.
"I guess that is worth the time it took." She shakes her head and cleans the blade that had his blood on it, giving him a meaningful look before returning it to its proper place with the others.
"I'm sure you did your best." The condescending tone returns, mocking the notion of someone doing their best being good enough when the results were unacceptable. And Gilgamesh was certainly that right now.

"Better than you."
There was a defensive bite to his tone as he folded his arms to stare her down. Making a very concentrated effort to not wince in pain from the still bleeding stab wound on his shoulder. And to just look intimidating while gaunt and pale and obviously in a severely weakened condition.
This wasn't good though, of all the people to run into she was low on the list of people he wanted to see. This was going to be a giant pain in the ass, and he didn't know how long it was going to last this time before she just up and fucked off. If he was lucky she was just passing through and giving him a courtesy call. Though if the result of the Dragon attack was any indication, luck wasn't exactly on his side in much of anything right now.
Not that it ever had been.

"We'll see." She rolls her eyes in turn and tsks, clicking her tongue as he tries to be Mr. Dark and Imposing. She'd seen and heard this from him before. The prince of brooding making a stand against the world and looking like shit in the process.
"Besides, it's not about me. Word travels fast, you know." She would never, ever end up looking that bad if she could help it. Her living skeleton days were long past. Then, helpfully, she nods to his shoulder.
"And I'm not the one who decided that Halloween came early."

"No, you are the one that can't even beat a half dead foe with a surprise attack."
The rest of her comments were hardly worth replying to. She was a punk. A snot nosed little brat that thought she was special because she got a stupid fucking field trip. Well it clearly didn't help that much. She was probably sent away for being a failure if this is what she was bringing to the table.
That thought brought a small smile to his face, even if he knew it wasn't true. If that had been the case then she would have ended up dead. They were both past the point of just walking away from the path they were on. Not if they wanted to keep living, it was a one way street.

"No, I've the one that's been stuck out in the middle of nowhere training still while you traipse around the city like a half dead corpse. When the hell did you turn into such a whiny little city boy, anyway?" She snorted and shook her head, already done with his banter.
"So what else has the great Gilgamesh accomplished besides nearly dying? Anything worthwhile? Because right now it looks like the only thing you're king of is rooftops and brooding. Next time I'll just knock you off your perch." Preferably into the street. Seeing his condition was disappointing, but also jarring. Gil didn't lose, not like this. They'd both worked hard and proven they were better than that. No to mention he'd improved since they'd last met - how long ago was that now, anyway? A couple of months, maybe more. She could recall times she'd gotten a grapple on him with speed on her side, of dodging his blows and making him work for the capture if he really wanted it.
They both did.
Looks like she had some work to do.

"Looks like it didn't take."
She sure talked a lot for calling him whiny. But if she was so sure she could knock him off his perch he welcomed the challenge. With another sharp exhale of pain he'd unfold his arms and slip back into a fighting stance. She was more than welcome to press her advantage if she thought she had one. Because he was just going to get stronger again as his health returned. And despite what she thought he'd been training hard, throwing himself at challenges to overcome.
"Try it."

She eyes him for a moment as he holds his arms out, knowing he'll be ready for her the moment she moves. The contemplation on her face might read as temptation being taken, but in the end she old shook her head and waved him off.
"Forget it. I'm not fighting a half dead man." They both knew she wouldn't go after him - go after the kill, that is - with him like this. There was a difference between advantage and cowardice, and while this wasn't necessarily the latter, Valkyrie's interest was in taking Gilgamesh head on. On beating him at his best, knowing that she didn't win because of something circumstantial, but due to her own power and skill.
"I'm assuming the dojo's still up, at least." Dragons like populated areas, sure, but they had to travel form place to place somehow. She'd be pissed if anything happened to it. Valkyrie had no desire to come back just to rebuild the damn thing.

He just shrugged when she turned down the challenge. All talk, but what else was new. She always ran her mouth more than anything else. Probably why she hadn't killed him yet. As for why she wasn't dead yet. Well, she was hardly a challenge. Worthy she may be, but worth his time? That was debatable.
"Same spot as when it was built."
Of course it was fine. Dragon's didn't tend to attack cabins deep in the woods far away from the city. Not impossible he supposed, but from what he knew of them they attacked big centers of population. Not random isolated houses.
