Rainfall stopped firing.
Enough of the thralls had been torn into bloody ruin to earn the defenders a reprieve. Not much to do now, other than wait to see what the dragon tried next. Rainfall took the opportunity to check her gun, making sure the heavy thing was all in working order. The concern wasn't really necessary, given her power, but it gave her something to do, and might save her a little trouble. Nemesis, if she was still in the helicopter, would find that the numerous spent bullet casings from the minigun had mysteriously disappeared.
The helicopter was too high to be affected by the spikes, though the pilot pulled up a bit out of reflex as they erupted from the ground below. Rainfall frowned at this. "Hold steady. It can't reach us just yet."
The spines, whether part of the dragon or not, didn't look like particularly vulnerable targets. She held back, eyes roving over the ruined streets, ready to take aim as soon as she had something to shoot at.

The vibrations in the ground had been noted long before any warning called out. Before she could suggest any activity on their part, the idea that they should all retreat to higher ground was fairly obvious, so bringing it up again would be too redundant.
Zenith leapt diagonally and landed against a window of a nearby building. Transferring a portion of her electricity into the glass, she pushed off without completely shattering the window. Again she moved upward and slightly to the side. She continued this wall jumping until she reached the top of the building.
Observing the other supers scrambling to safety inspired Zenith to begin planning their next move. She frowned, noting that most of their forces would have a difficult time escaping from any opponents should the need arise. If the dragon could drive spikes up through the ground, what would prevent it from destroying the buildings they were currently standing on? There appeared to be a pattern to the attack's location, but the dragon wouldn't prioritize artistic design over functional slaughter. That didn't make sense.
In case the monster did try to destroy the other buildings, a more permanent solution would be ideal. Of course, Zenith did not know how to create floating platforms that defied the laws of physics. She attempted to cycle through the list of known abilities that the others should possess, but finding anything useful might take a while. The search continued running in the background as the rest of her energy focused on more practical strategies.

Ophiuchus smiled to himself as the dragon's minions were taken out by himself and the other supers. However, as he scooped up his three snakes, he could feel something moving under the ground before the rumbling became apparent. Making sure his serpents were secure, half-snake man leapt onto the window ledge of the nearest building via the dumpster next to it. Ophiuchus then used his reptilian speed and agility to leap from window to window, while giant spikes tore up the street and made it look a scene from a Lovecraft novel. When he reached the top, he leapt towards the edge of the roof and vaulted over. Once he landed, the hybrid stood up and waited for the dragon to make its move.

Post by Lust on Oct 11, 2016 0:19:51 GMT -7
All of a sudden, there was no longer anything underneath the motorcycle. Lust had assumed the light-road was part of the effect, some kind of supernatural aura produced by the vehicle to hold it in the air, but either she'd been wrong or something had gotten damaged. Gravity took hold, her stomach somersaulted inside her. Was this it? Were they going to die? She screamed, thrill and terror and pleasure all bursting out of her in one sudden, explosive release. Her shriek had an oddly melodious quality to it, as if it were the peak of an orchestra's crescendo rather than a human's sudden cry- and it'd be loud enough for the other Sins to hear, if they were listening.
It was too late for anyone to help, however, and Lust could do nothing but cling to Limen for dear life as they slammed into a wall of glass. The world around her shattered into a thousand crystal shards, which she watched dance beautifully in the air before they collided with a cubicle, smashing through plastic and paper and keyboards and monitors and every other aspect of boring office life. Symbolic, in a way.
Impacts, on every side, softened by the body held close to her, and then stillness, quiet. She blinked. They'd landed... more or less safely, somehow. And she was on top of Limen. Lust joined her in laughter, their voices twining together in harmony. Perfect, resonant.
As they finally stopped to catch a breath, the Sin found that she was breathing deeply, heavily. She felt exhausted, but somehow full of energy, her heart still pounding at a breakneck pace from their journey through the air. She looked down at Limen, at her sweet roundish face and cute little ears and mischievous smile, and it sped up still further. Fuck. She would, not, could not hold back any longer. Lust wanted, and it was a want as powerful and inevitable as gravity, pushing aside doubts and thoughts and any awareness of the situation.
Limen had turned her head, and was looking outside, saying something, but Lust reached out, gently touching the other girl's cheek with one hand and turning her head so that they faced each other again. Leaning over her, long blue hair falling like curtains around them, Lust managed to restrain herself just enough to breathe out three words. "You. Me. Now."
Before Limen could so much as open her lips to reply, Lust took them for her own.
She kissed hard, aggressively, forcing Limen down with the strength of it and pouring every bit of what their crazy, wonderful ride had done to her into that single point of contact. Her power flowed through them both, filling Limen with warmth, and hunger, and the shivering, addictive feeling of all the right chemicals going all the right places and twisting the nerves until there was nothing to do but let go, fall, drown in the sensation of the moment. For just a few seconds, the blue-haired girl made Limen feel what she'd been feeling this whole time, what she felt every moment she existed as Lust, what drove her to seek out pleasure at the expense of all decency, safety, and reason.
Lust herself felt ten times that. The limits of her sensation had long gone beyond what humans could ever reach, her power coming up with new ways to bring her higher and higher peaks of ecstasy. And this was just a kiss, they hadn't even gotten started yet-
Their lips parted, and Lust jerked upwards, her hair cascading past her shoulders as she wriggled back, away from Limen, pressing herself against a cubicle wall. Every muscle in her body was tense, and her eyes were wide, mad, torn between worry and want, between horror and hunger. She couldn't. She couldn't. Not to one so innocent.
But that feeling...
Later. Wait until later. Makes it even better, right?
That reasoning worked. She relaxed a little, the conflict subsiding, her expression returning to a charming smile as she giggled a little. Amusing, reassuring. "Wow. You're... pretty fucking amazing." She tilted her head to one side, grinning mischievously. "I think you earned that, saving my life and fighting the dragon and all. Feeling motivated, now?"

What pieces of rubble and destruction there were around the truck glowed pink and sprang into action, forming a ramp for the now speeding vehicle to use. It may have been equipped for slaughter, but not so much for durability versus what he was faced with now. Hopefully, his passenger could hold on tight. It wasn't any more than a shabby construction that could hardly hold the weight of a decked out automobile such as it now had to. It didn't get him very far in the air, but high enough to land in one of the skyscrapers out of the spikes area. They were a good sign, along with the retreat of the thralls. This dragon had more tricks to show, and it was getting closer to actually revealing itself. Usually, such things were at their strongest when fighting personally. Phenomenon also refused to let up on the accelerator, and after breaking through the windows he only reached a stop in the middle of the office. Materials promptly began repairing and modifying his weapon, glowing pink. For starters, the tires were in need of some repairs, and the napalm turret had been punctured as well. The fuel for it was trailing from the window of the office building to where it was now, ending in but a few drops in the bed. Barbed wire and spikes had been torn off to some extent by the thralls whose bodies had caught them.
The tires were a simple enough problem to fix, and the first to be dealt with. In order to prevent them from leaking air, they had been immediately sealed via melted plastics and rubber. It would cause them to lose some traction, but keep them inflated. The napalm cannon was refueled by printer ink and a whole awful lot of tape. Such was his solution to many things. His protection, however, was gone from all sides of the truck and it would take a bit more thought to get that back. Curiously enough, there was no obvious solution that made itself known but one... This truck was about to look really dumb, but it would be a practical enough plan. Phenomenon kicked his legs up on the dash and turned up the radio, relaxing. Wave of Mutilation was still playing, but had neared the end of its set time and was skipped. After flipping through a few more, he settled on Detroit Rock City and a very large portion of the office started to glow. Drawers, desks, filing cabinets, normal cabinets, doors, cubicles, computers, staplers. Anything that could contain what he was looking for. Then, they were all raided, rifled through, taken apart, dissected. He was gathering metal, as long as it was small enough to work. Paperclips made up the fabric of his design, what held the whole thing together. They were taken and made into braids with each other, with the screws, nails, staples, and even leftover paperclips protruding as spikes or barbs. The paperclip-death-ropes were wrapped around the truck, creating a tougher shell than last time with less ability to maim and injure. It wasn't the most durable in quality, but after they had been wrapped around he truck in layers upon layers the quantity made up for it. Relaxing was now well deserved; his telekinesis wasn't used to being exerted over such a large area and wasn't particularly pleased, though it wouldn't hinder him yet.

Pride smirked, it was obvious this puny thugs would run as soon as he had the thought to attack them, but it was what a portal said as he made a quick descent to the ground.
"Envy your voice sounds much deeper than us- oh hahaha my apologies gluttony it appears you confused yourself with another sin."
There is no way Gluttony couldn't hear the smirk in his voice as he flew and flipped through the air, landing next to his sin partner without any trouble.
"Apologies my dear flame but it appears that this beast intends to literally sweep you off your feet before I intend to, luckily I am here to make sure that doesn't happen."
With a quick bow, Pride suddenly scooped the small hot head sin into his arms bridal style before dashing up a near by building.

"H-hey that actually worked"
Sanduleak breathed out his relief with a quiet chuckle, though it was gone when he saw the tremors and the eventuality of the attack they would have to deal with.
"This is not good, especially with its location unknown but least I'm kinda safe up here, but why did the wind suddenly become more viole- Oh crap."
Sanduleak's little time stop trick had worked but also had the unfortunate side effect of losing focus on other constructs and having both his clones and suit fail, meaning he was currently doing a free fall toward the tentacle sprouting ground.
"MAY DAY MAY DAY!!"

Aurora continued tearing through just about anything in her sights in search for the dragon, practically blind to everything else. It didn't take a genius to figure out what the spores did, and she wasn't going to let that happen. Even once the rumbling started she continued tearing through the road and the sides of buildings looking for any sign of the dragon. Once the dragon started showing itself, Aurora went directly for it, dropping what she could on the spikes and trying to dig it out of the ground again. Particles were flying everywhere, quickly forming and turning back into solid matter while she stared intently at what she could see of the beast with an almost crazed expression on her face. By this point, beads of sweat were dripping off her chin and her shirt was absolutely drenched. She was focused enough on her task that she didn't notice the people approaching her. When she felt something touch her face, she let out something between a grunt and another scream, quickly spun around and punched whatever it was right between the eyes as hard as she could.
It wasn't until she saw the spores being lifted from her skin that Aurora understood what was going on. Her breathing started to slow down a bit, and her rampage on the city stopped. It took her a moment to become fully aware of her surroundings. There were spikes appearing all throughout the street, that was likely the dragon, but considering the amount of things on fire and the nature of the what she'd seen of the dragon so far, she doubted all of this was caused by the dragon. Weren't they supposed to be trying to save the city, not burn it? What the hell happened? It took a moment for it to dawn on her that most of the holes in the buildings were probably her, so she wasn't inclined to say anything for the moment. This was one fight where she could understand people getting a little emotional. Once her head stopped spinning, she turned back to the healer briefly before heading to the edge of the building to sit.
"Sorry. Thanks."
Aurora normally would have closed her eyes for this, but that seemed like a bad idea right now. She took a few minutes to even her breathing and regain her sensibilities. The dragon still needed to die, hard, but with most of the thralls dead or obscured she hoped she'd be able to handle it a little better from here.

It was working! As hard as it was to focus on those weird spores Unhallow's efforts to break them apart was doing something. They couldn't stay satisfied with themselves for too long though. As the thralls started retreating one of the other supers hit Azoth for no apparent reason and started to carry her off. Did she get hit by the spores? That was the only reasonable explanation, which meant they had to do something!
Before they could focus their power too much, a portal opened up underneath them, dropping them on the top of a roof. Unhallow nearly fell over from the sudden drop, but barely managed to keep their balance by flailing their arms around a little. It took them a moment to get their bearings again because of the sudden transport, but it looked like Azoth was okay and no one was trying to attack the kidnapper. Unhallow held their power back, but they would be watching this person. They were a little concerned about Sin Eater too, but there wasn't a lot they could do to help her. Getting closer to her would just make things worse. Same with Azoth. They settled with rubbing their hands together nervously.
"I can just see...spirals. Infinite spirals all over the place. It's really disorientating because they don't stop ever. I don't know how it works, dragons make no sense. It's making it impossible for me to tell where it is because the spirals are all over the city. The spores have the spirals too, the only reason I could tell the difference was because they were coming out of the weird thralls and I can see them better."
Unhallow slowly walked to the far edge of the roof putting as much distance between themselves and everyone else. They were nervous about being on a roof like this considering her power had a tendency to destroy the ground underneath them, but there wasn't much choice right now. They didn't want to go back to the road and be stuck in the pit of infinite spirals.

The sound of Lust's seductive song prompted Envy to realize that, for only a moment, she stopped paying attention to the girl. She turned around and searched for that flying motorcycle, her heart beating faster the longer it took to find them. She made it just in time to notice the vehicle crash through a window, and gasped.
That was it. She needed to get up there, to make sure they were okay. The part where everyone had to run away from the death spikes convinced her to try something stupid. The less shitty part of her power generated a kinetic force that could knock things back. If Envy aimed towards the ground, the resulting explosion should boost herself higher, eventually reaching their location. Probably. She hadn't had a reason to try anything like that in a long time, but today was an emergency.
Envy gathered up a large amount of energy at her feet, mostly from the resources stored inside her own body. When she finally released the pressure it sent her flying through the air, though somewhat unstable. With each corrective blast she shrunk a little further and required less force to go higher, but that made it hard to stay balanced.
Eventually, she flailed around long enough to reach the broken window. Landing safely was out of the question so Envy ended up rolling through the shards of broken glass, ignoring any scrapes along the way. Hurriedly, she scrambled to her feet and followed the path of destruction carved through the office space. She didn't slow down until she came across the two of them alone.
"L-lust. . ." Exhausted from all of her efforts just to arrive here, she needed a moment to catch her breath. Simply being around one of the other Sins was enough to calm her down, but Lust, in particular, had a special place in her heart. The other girl always made Envy feel. . . wanted, in a way that no one else could. She knew most of it had to do with the whole power of seduction technique, but that didn't matter. Even if one of them bothered to disable it, Lust would still be an attractive woman and Envy would still be in love.
No, wait, back up. That wasn't what it sounded like. She knew that whatever relationship they had together didn't really count. No one spent any amount of time with a sex goddess and expected her to settle down. In real life, they barely knew anything about each other. This was only a bit of fun that would last until one of them became bored. And that was okay.
Still, she couldn't fully suppress a brief moment of jealousy toward the third little Panda girl. Okay, little might not have been the best word to use as Envy was currently an inch or so shorter, but that wasn't the point.
The girl whose name was forgotten had clearly just experienced something wonderful, a feeling Envy longed for herself. She noticed her hand beginning to tense up into a fist and forced herself to relax. This wasn't the time for violence. If anything, she should be praising Lust's choice in women, as the other girl was kind of cute as well. Almost. She should be more welcoming towards the newest member of their club, the list of people who have truly experienced all of Lust's wonders.
"You guys are alright." By this point a few tears began their way down her face, but Envy was still smiling. She almost wished they could all just stay inside and not worry about the impending destruction around them. That sounded like more fun, but it would have to wait. The thought of potentially dying did not get her the right kind of excited for any special activities anyway.
"I-I'll give you two some space, or something." Envy turned away to wipe the tears from her eyes and to stop acting like an embarrassing wreck. She needed to focus, and staring at those two would not make the upcoming battle any easier.

Siren was booking it up a fire escape to get away from the spike spewing ground when she heard a familiar voice. Looking up she saw Sanduleak falling from the sky, again. Was this going to be something he did every dragon? God she hoped not. Pushing those thoughts away she looked for a way to catch him. It looked like she could jump from this platform to another on the building opposite her while catching him in mid-jump. Only problem was that she may not be able to get them both on that platform. But there was no more time to think. Her only opportunity was coming and she needed to act. She got a small running start and pushed off the fire escape with all the strength she could. Her body met with his mid air and she wrapped her arms around him.
Siren could see the platform rushing up to met them. However, the protective fencing would make it impossible to land. So she did the next best thing. She threw Sandu over the fencing and grabbed the side of the wrought iron to stop her own descent. Hanging there she glanced down to see one of the dragon's spikes were too close for comfort. Yikes. Turning her attention back to her precarious situation she pulled herself to safety. With a small chuckle she turned to Sanduleak.
"We have to stop meeting like this. You ok?"

Gluttony's voice reached Wrath's ears making her fire go out momentarily. Her sense returned and an evil smirk crossed her face as she responded.
"Keep talking like that and we're going to find out what stands longer: Me and a bottle of Jameson or your precious business."
Her dignity fully restored she looked down at the rumbling beneath her. Just as the ground beneath her feet she heard Pride say some nonsense then swoop her i to his arms. It made her feel like a child or some precious thing. This was increased when they were suddenly running up the side of a building and the little fireball was pressed against his chest. Her embarrassment overpowered her anger and she reverted back into her civilian form. Black hair covered her face as she went to hide it in his shoulder. As she did so she noticed one of the spikes nearly impale Pride. Using her flames she shot them up the side of the building, boosting his speed and leaving a trail of flames behind.
"You bloody idiot! Put me down and watch your goddamn feet! You better as hell not be trying to die right now because I do not have time for that!"

Carl turned and stared at the man momentarily before sighing and turning back away. "There's always need for a person to try and save the victims of travesty. If I don't make the effort now, how can I possibly expect others to later? I don't know who this Seraphim person is, either, or have any reason to trust them. All I can go off of is what I think is right. I'll leave killing them up to you all, as I'm unable to stop you all. Keeping the infected from attacking and leaving them vulnerable is just as viable a strategy as any attempts at killing them I could do."
He watched as the spikes emerged from the ground, and once again the previously dead girl was injured. She seemed incredibly unfortunate, but otherwise perfectly fine if she survived dying. Everyone else seemed capable of getting out of the way, though, not that he could see everyone. As for his rooftop gang (including the girl that he had been otherwise too distracted to notice), they were all safe and out of harm's way.
"Seems it's all a moot point now, though. There definitely isn't any reason to try and spare the dragon itself, and it seems we'll finally get a peek at it. Oh, and by the way, since we've got a moment of quiet, I'm known as Carl. How about you two?"

The Good Shepherd put his finger to his ear to activate his communication with the other Rein members,
"Rodger Seraphim. We are atop a building at the moment. Don't plan on going down."
He paused, then began again "It looks We've kept the enemy's forces at bay for now. I'm coordinating with local PD and rescue services to help evacuate any civilians that we may have come across. Please keep clear of their efforts. Our next target will be bigger. Once I have a clear visual confirmation we can work a strategy. Keep the chatter open and let's see if we can gather any intel on the dragon based on how the others engage it. Damage has been minimized and our bosses will like that- though I know for a fact that they'll like a sample of that dead dragon a hell of a lot more. Heck- just killing it will make their week. Promotions all around for the brass."
The Shepherd's smug commentary was on point but he wasn't feeling quite as confident as he sounded. This WAS a dragon after all. He remembered the news reports and briefings on them. They were as mysterious as they were dangerous and this one was toxic to humans- turning them into some kind of zombies. If it didn't stop here it would spread and that was a problem no amount of governmentmight could contain save for a nuke... and that was a very real, very grim, possibility. He couldn't even predict if that would work- not without more intel.
Pushing aside his darker thoughts Shep reloaded, coordinated with the local PD, and got ready for rounds two.

Toko was thankful for Geata's ability, covered a lot of weakpoints others had, himself included.
"Thank you..."
He sat down by the edge of the roof, rifle in his hand as he prepared his next shot and considered the current situation. Geata was right the dragon was underground, most likely the sewers or those passages that Azoth had recently discovered. Problem was they were going to have a difficult finding it with it being able to attack like this.
"Patience may unfortunately be our best bet, wait and see how it will deal with this current situation and give us any clues to it's location, if we attempt to rush it that will most likely lead to death from the spores or info memetic power it possesses..."
