Fortunately, Zenith made it out of the building before the dragon could fully stop her. She had plenty of time to retreat and wait for the mandatory recharging period to conclude. That escape was closer than she would've preferred--being unable to navigate around its defenses would have set things back considerably. Perhaps this was the sensation other people called 'being lucky'. Good to know.
The damage caused by punching holes through the structure exceeded her calculations. If the strategy was that effective, Zenith saw no reason to rethink her plans. Why bother to fix something that was not broken?
Once again she charged at the building, this time only barely exceeding the speed of sound. Rather than trying an action that would require a cooling off period, she opted for something easily repeatable. Zenith picked up a nearby metal pipe and began swinging at the structure hundreds of times per second.

While the other supers closed in on the tower, Rainfall moved around it, keeping her head down as she rushed across the scarred cityscape. Spores filled the air, forcing her to cough them out every few seconds and obstructing her view of what was going on elsewhere. She could hear noises- yelling, gunfire, the patter of raindrops, and others she couldn't recognize. With this many supers concentrated in one place, the laws of physics might as well have been nonexistent, and the sights and sounds produced by the massive assault were of a kind that no mortal had likely witnessed before.
Rainfall, however, wasn't her for the sightseeing or the memories. She had a beast to put down, and time was running out.
The more recent blossoms looked to be the more dangerous ones, but the source of the growths was still alive. Rainfall didn't know much about how these creatures worked, but maybe taking out the Dragon's original body would kill the rest of it, too. At the very least, eliminating it ought to hurt the thing.
Following the renewed army of cats into the tunnels, she crouched down as soon as she came within sight of the grotesque flower, setting her guns down and then picking up a sniper rifle with both hands, aiming it carefully. Her hands were steady, her eyes narrow and unafraid. She focused on her power, readying it to accelerate a single bullet to insane velocities, enough to tear straight through the target in a single shot.
She couldn't fire just yet, not with so many other supers in the way and engaging the target. If it pushed its enemies away, however, the Dragon would be left to face the full wrath of Rainfall's attack. It was caught between a rock and a hard place: one way or another, the blossom would be torn down, and any indecision it experienced would only expedite its downfall.

Of course the blanket trick didn't work. That wasn't the point. She wasn't dumb enough to think that her stupid power would hold that blossom down for good. No, Arcanum fired that off as a test. It was important to make sure anything else she launched could actually reach the target without getting blown away by all the chaos happening. Since the slingshot kind of succeeded, she could move on with part two of the plan.
It was time to send the clones up to the frontlines of battle. The Sword girls all got together and consolidated into one larger body. They used the sling to launch themselves at the former Horizon building, dividing back into fourteen separate bodies in mid-air. After landing on the tower, their job was simple: take out that flower's defenses. If the dragon thought it could use steel beams or whatever to slow down their advance, well, Arcanum would have an easy enough time getting rid of those.

“Well, that didn’t work out as much as I expected.” Anonymous thought to himself.
Even though the high flower create those seemingly independence spores, the volatile gas doesn’t seems to do anything. Or to be more honest, the dragon has toughened up its vulnerability by reshaping the building structure. Because of the sudden shifting of the building, the volatile vial shattered prematurely, thus causing the gas to spread too far off its target.
“Hm, I wonder…” Anonymous then turned his attention back to the one tattered flower inside the building.
From the last time he deal with the building, he could have sworn that he detect some sentient thought inside. This means that its brain must be closer to the ground rather than all the way up there spewing out those spores. If that is the case, perhaps he can wrack the dragon’s brain before it fully conceal its brain by using the building to block his influence over it. Thus he focused all his concentration toward that one flower, hoping that he can latch onto the brain pattern before it seal its brain away for good.

Even though the flame managed to handle most of the spores, HaLOS can see that as it burned away the spores, more spores spew out and replace them. With all thing consider, it believe that there must be another target that it can do more damage to. After some short moment of calculation, it realized something: the dragon still used the Horizons Building rather than actually emerge out of its hiding. Since this dragon act similar to a fungal parasite, perhaps it is using this building as a foundation, similar to how a snail used its shell to protect itself.
That mean, if it can cause the building’s foundation to crumble, then it will be easier to deal with the squishier part inside. Since the dragon has corrupted the building beyond recognition, using the original blueprint of the building to find a weak point would be counterproductive. HaLOS started to scan the building from top to bottom in order to find the pressure point that it can strike to deal a fatal blow to it. Once it located those pressure points, HaLOS pulled out the plasma blades and begin its assault. Because of the earlier damage, its speed going around the building to destroy those points is quite limited. However, it should be enough to reach to those points without the dragon realized what it is doing.

Giza’s attempt on stabbing the high flower bulb end up quite a failure; even worst, his location got swarm with those spores almost instantly. The spores started to seep through the gap on his clothe, and soon enough he started to feel the pain going all over his body even more intent than before. He tried to push away the jet of spores away from him, but their huge number soon overwhelmed him, and he can feel some of those spores started to take root onto his skin. Even though the ceramic mask managed to filter out the spores in the air, keeping him from breathing them in, those spores started to cause him to cough up blood out of his mouth.
The dragon has already claimed two of the Pandaemonium members, it way more than the casualty from the last dragon. The lost of Balance also hit quite close to home: she was the one who save Aurora from the spores. Giza then spitted out the blood from his mouth into the pavement as he feel the anger built up in him. He’ll be damn if this dragon thought it can get away with killing two of the Pandaemonium as if they’re nothing.
Even though completely overwhelm with such agony, Giza could still maintain his composure in order to look at one of the flower on the side of the building. If he can’t get to the flower all the way up top, then he can still focus his power on the one closer to his position. Clenching his teeth to push through the pain and the heavy influence of the dragon’s power over his mind, Giza tried to gather up the spores around him and threw them directly at that flower. This is his best effort of maintaining control right now; he can only hope that one type of spores might be enough to interfere with the other type of spores.
“T-This one’s for you, Balance.”

Ophiuchus was rather peeved that the thralls were largely unaffected by his venom. However, one of the large blossoms on the tower seemed to be producing slightly less spores than before. It was this blossom that he decided to target instead. The snake-man proceeded to climb the tower until he was above and to the side of the blossom. Ophiuchus then began spraying the offending vegetation in a shower of venom, hoping the flower would be affected by the hemotoxins.

The spore’s effect on Poppet must be worst than she thought, considering how difficult it is to pull the flower up its root. From one of the flower on the side, the dragon made a sword composed of those spores that started to spread around the city, latching onto her strings and cutting some of them down.
“J-Jessica,” she exclaimed, “I-I don’t think this is working.”
She decided to improvise into a different plan: the spores are spewing out too much that she worried that they might cause her lose control of her power again. Looking around, she can see that the rooftop have the most number of spores coming out all the way into the air.
“Hey, maybe we can cut down some of those spores.” Jessica said to her.
“B-But what if the creature break through them like the last time?”
“It’s the best plan we got right now; we need to plug up that stupid flower from making more of those spores now.”
Since she can’t come up with any other plan to do, Poppet decided to do a test to see if she has full control of her power before she started to weave the strings into a large web in the air above the rooftop. The webbing has multiplies sticky layers that she hope they can stop the spores from going through them. She even make those webbing much stronger than before, so it can stood the pressure from the huge plume of spores spewing out of that flower.

Post by Gluttony on Oct 17, 2016 1:30:12 GMT -7
The "encouragement" from Pride was about as welcome as a second dragon. Gluttony was surprised to find that the words rejuvenated him, though, as he realized he really needed to get more field experience with his allies after they finished their current foe. If he still lacked a full understanding of at least the basics of their powers, there was no way he could truly make good, tactical use of them. They were his friends, yes, but they were also tools to be used effectively. All of them were, including himself. If he were to try to hammer a nail with a screwdriver, for lack of a better metaphor, it would be a waste of time, energy, resources, and talents.
The spores settling into his skin again elicited a smug chuckle. That was until Gluttony realized that they had fundamentally changed, somehow, and were spreading faster than he could burn them away. He could feel the dragon in the back of his mind, encouraging him to stop and to go find others. At the same time, he felt the building start to give way. He had made progress, he found himself thinking; it was fine to take a break. He pulled away, somewhat reluctantly, before turning back and slamming his fist into the building with all his might. He wasn't going to lose focus of the fight, but at the same time, he needed to figure out where the other sins were. Pride had left Wrath to fend for herself, for certain, and Lust and Envy were possibly seperate too. He quickly made his way away from the tower and started to search for his fellow sins.
Luckily for him, fire made for a great beacon, and new flames erupting informed him of the location of the naturally diminutive sin, Wrath. He rushed to her location and, after waiting for a window of opportunity, dashed through a gap in the inferno and gave his small friend a bear hug. Most people, and possibly supers, would be crushed by him, but Wrath was durable enough that he likely needn't worry himself about holding back too much.
"Wrath," he said happily, which he found to be both odd and perfectly normal, "you're alright! Tell me, please, do you know of where the other two lovely female sins are? I'd be beside myself if any of you were to be hurt." Gluttony frowned sightly, sure that it wasn't the time for an emotional reunion, but couldn't exactly figure out exactly why he shouldn't act concerned about his friends during a dragon attack.

Aurora's vantage point gave her a great view of of yet anther person being cut to pieces. Once again, she felt her heart skip a beat and for a moment she could only stare in stunned silence. She didn't even know this one, to the point that she wasn't even sure if she remembered her name. Even if Aurora did make a point of making sure she knew everyone in her faction, there were some people that were just so inactive that it was easy to forget about them sometimes. However, she did help her out earlier, and that was the memory that stuck in her head. That girl helped her out of her panic attack, only to be punched in the face after, and Aurora couldn't even help her here. It was enough to make her lose feeling in her legs, and for her knees to buckle. The rain continued to fall over the battlefield, and for the time being, she didn't even bother to wipe any raindrops off her face. Some of the larger fires were still burning despite the rain and there were even more thralls than before. Nothing she was doing was proving to be particularly effective. She'd never felt so useless in her entire life.
There was no point in getting up. With her head hung, she raised her hand and her aurora darted towards her in no particular pattern. This was the fastest way of getting it off the ground so she could send it to the top of the tower. She noticed that those spores could be stopped, unlike the lower ones where she was having great difficulty doing anything. She noticed some other people having some luck with a few other tactics, but it looked like the others caught on already. Aurora didn't see much point in informing them of something they already knew about, even if being able to look out for these kinds of things was the whole reason she wanted a vantage point like this. It felt like the entire situation was sucking the life out of her. Whether that was actually happening, or it was just the situation getting to her, she couldn't tell. It didn't matter, she had to conserve her energy if she wanted to be able to finish this fight. Her aurora darted for the highest blossom, where once again, it tried to plug up whatever was making the spores come out of it.
Why did everyone even want her to become a leader? Hell, why did she even go along with it? The idea that she could somehow transcend her humanity was starting to sound absurd.

As Lobisomem and Blue Jay tore at the growth, Titan maintained his iron grip, holding it in place so that his companions would be able to get clearer hits on the thing. Unfortunately, not much progress was being made, as the strange growth continued to expand. It was a disgusting thing that Titan would be glad to be rid of personally, but their efforts didn't see to do much to stymy its growth.
Suddenly, the spores formed some kind of bladed instrument, which slammed down hard, no doubt killing someone on impact. To make things worse, the grotesque organ had began forming another such instrument, making their efforts seem more and more futile. Observing the battlefield, the others seemed to have been doing well enough on their part, especially the military, an entity that Titan hadn't even expected to take part.
But what struck him the most was the growth situated high above the battlefield, spewing what appeared to be the most greatest amount of spores. Tactically, that could be a dire long-term problem. In addition, very few could actually reach it, which must have meant that it was deliberately situated there to prevent most from doing any damage. Thankfully, Titan was just the right size to reach that particular growth. While it pained him to leave his companions, they would definitely understand his tactical decision.
Drawing his attention to the growth sitting on the skyscraper, Titan once again repeated his previous action and grasped at the bizarre flower of flesh. If he tried hard enough, maybe he could rip out this blight from the root.

Kaz growled with feral determination as he battled the mutants, who were even more disgusting up close. Unfortunately, as ferocious as he was, the cramped space meant that Kaz would be unable to do as much damage as he hoped he would. Some of the mutants almost got a few good hits in, which would have ended the fight if Kaz wasn't quick enough to evade them. After beheading one mutant, Kaz decided that he wouldn't be able to do much from here and wisely retreated through the shadows.
Taking up position next to Toko, Kaz let out a mirthless chuckle. His partner seemed to be doing a better job at ridding the battlefield of the freaks from a distance, an advantage Kaz reluctantly had to give Toko credit for. Scanning the horizon, Kaz took notice of a building that a group of supers were tearing at. One of them, the one that might as well have been a speeding bolt of lightning, had gone inside the structure, which seemed to be filled to the brim with all sorts of weird organic bits. Disgusting.
Kaz had found a new target and sped off towards the building. Inside was almost completely devoid of light, a playground of shadows. Perfect. Joining the lightning girl, Kaz used his knives to tear at the growths.

Did it work? Unhallow tilted her head and squinted. Her senses were useless here because everything was still spirals, but her eyes thought that maybe it did something? It seemed a little off balance at least maybe. It was hard to tell if it was just wishful thinking on her part or whether she actually managed to damage the building. It felt weird to be using her eyes in this situation. Everything was covered in infinite spirals, so her senses couldn't see anything at this point. It was like she was suddenly blinded, to the point that she was always surprised when there were other things happening nearby. There were so many things happening, and only being able to see in front of her felt weird. She took a quick look around the area to see if there were better targets, or if there was something she could do, because not being able to tell if she was doing anything useful was getting really annoying.
What she saw instead was someone being cut apart by the dark spirals. Unhallow's eyes widened. While this wasn't the first time she'd seen someone killed, she tried to put that memory out of her head as best as possible, and this was the first time she'd seen someone killed during by a dragon, at least that she could remember. She knew they were fighting dangerous monsters, but it never felt real. Her senses were always so messed up during these fights that it always felt more like she was dreaming, and everyone always seemed so invincible. Getting hurt never mattered, everyone she knew always got out okay, Sin Eater died often enough that it felt more like she was having a quick nap than actually dying...but this was real, this was what they were actually dealing with. Unhallow always thought that fighting dragons would be easy with her power. Just go find something squishy and lean on it until it died right? But this was really hard. They never made sense, she never had any idea what to do, and there was always this scar of death and destruction in their wake. Could she say she was really helping?
Unhallow's eyes caught someone moving out of the main structure. There was a way in? She couldn't tell what was inside because it was just a mass of spirals like everything else, but if the dragon was taking this much effort to try to protect it then there must be something important in there. Unhallow furrowed her brow, and ran into the building as quickly as she could. She was fast, but she had no endurance to speak of. By the time she made it in she was breathing heavily and it felt like her heart was going to explode. Now she just had to see if she could find something squishy and important.

Death, pain, fear, grief, a new flurry of emotions were picked up by Seraphim's power. They were things she'd felt many times, over and over again. As far as she was concerned, this was business as usual, but it was clear that the vast majority of these people really weren't prepared for it. It wasn't unexpected, most of them were children. At this point, one life didn't mean much to her. Ten lives didn't mean much to her. It was easy to prioritize which lives to save and which ones to abandon in most situations. She had little doubt that if most of these children continued on their path they'd start feeling the same way.
The dragon was protecting itself against her attacks. It wasn't unexpected, and there was little she could do about it besides keep shooting. It was obvious she wasn't going to be able to shoot down the blossoms though, whatever was keeping them attached to the building was simply too thick. The original blossom bringing some of its dead minions back to life was going to be a problem though. Hopefully this time people would actually believe her when she said they were dead given how they looked. Rather than aim for the blossom itself, she decided to try to undo some of the work it was doing so people could focus on it better themselves. She doubted she'd be able to get all of the undead thralls, but she should be able to thin their ranks somewhat.

Plague Doctor was discouraged that his attempt hadn't worked the first time, but he had to push himself harder. He felt something start to give, even if from the outside it didn't seem to be working. Plagues did work on this thing... Maybe he still had a shot. He forced his way back into the plants immune system, trying to find the sweet spot again.
Screaming, he forced the plague into it once again, knowing that if he could take this thing out... Maybe everything would work out. Maybe the dead wouldn't die in vain. He had to at least try. "The doctor will be seeing you now!" He screamed, and then realized that he had likely already used up his badass quote storage for the millennia.
