The Good Shepherd’s team tore through the spore blossoms- unaffected by their depowering abilities. They couldn’t depower what didn’t already have power. The Shepherd wondered for a second if the anti-super tranquilizers they had normally loaded in Delaware’s sniper rifle was similar to these and decided it was probably a good idea to get a sample from them. Seeing how they were covered in the depowering spores he doubted it would be hard to find.
The complete insanity, the various superpowers on display, would have made any reasonable scientist cry and break down into hysterics. Shep more or less just accepted he was outclassed and that things didn’t have to make sense, shrugged, and pumped another shell into his shotgun before blowing away another disruptive blossom. So- this was his life now. Giant flower swords crushing people, living windstorms, plant zombies, and a whole lot of cats. It was weird to think of but he preferred the complete chaos of war to this. At least war followed the laws of physics.
Looking over at his agents Delaware was methodically attacking clusters, conserving ammo and… Brooklyn was dual-wielding shotguns yelling “COME GET SOME!” over their com channel like the plants could hear them as he blasted away more or less indiscriminately into the masses of vegetation. There were two types of people in this world…

It happened almost directly in front of him. Blue Jay had been out of the way of the giant sword by only one rooftop; he’d had to drop down low to the roof to avoid the shrapnel that shot up from the devastating blow. When he pulled himself up, someone lay still in the settling dust. Blue Jay didn’t know her any more than he knew of any super that lived in the city he’d yet to with, that didn’t matter to death and it didn’t lessen the worn body, dead less than a hundred meters away. He could see in gory detail the injury that had killed her, and the many that had lead up to it. The swordswoman had fought a good fight. She had died an honorable death, protecting the people of the city, but for a good few seconds he was stunned, his heart pounding in his throat and his stomach threatening to join it.
This was two now. Two supers had died to this fucking flower and he couldn’t help but feel the twinge that he might have been able to do something. She’d been close enough- maybe if he’d been a little faster, more observant, he could had gotten her out of the way. Or he could’ve taken the blow instead. Had the sword been even a block to the side, he would’ve. And he might’ve gotten back up.
His grip on the hilt tightened. They needed to kill this thing before it killed anyone else. They’d already been too slow and let two people down.
Blue Jay turned towards the soft glow of the original flower. It was the source and the cause of all of this, and they needed to go after it with everything they had. And he knew someone who could help with just that.
Blue Jay found the young Bulwark, appearing beside him and running to keep pace. “Carl, can you do that thing again? We need to hit this thing with everything. Now.”
This time the order would be different: rip that damn dragon to shreds.

This area was not good for Mass, his powers seemingly useless, so he began making his way further up the building with solid air stairs. The highest blossom didn't appear to be having the same effect on those near it, so he would be targeting that one ffrom now on. Looking around at the damage so far, Mass saw that the city had been damaged a great amount, and two supers had died. This dragon needed to be stopped, before it killed any more of them. He had started sprinting, making the air solidify just as his feet got to it. Upon arrival at the top of the tower, he would begin running around the blossom, covering its surface with solidified mass to keep it from moving and attacking more supers. He would do his best to not fall off while up there, as it would be very bad to fall from such a great height without a proper landing pad. Of course, that was more likely to happen now, due to being right next to a giant monster made of flowers and building. His life has become quite strange compared to what it used to be.

“Damage control” had become a phrase with negative connotation since Solomon had joined the Reins, for how often it was spat out in regards to something they needed to do and could never do enough of (he’d like to see those government agents try to stop supers without leaving a traceable mark), but it was still unarguably one of the most important aspects of any mission, even if it’s only applicable in deciding to disregard it. In this particular mission, due to circumstances of size and its correspondence to power, it could not be ignored.
Once the last had been taken care of, Solomon could once again focus on a spell a little better suited to the situation at hand and hopefully more useful in stopping the spreading of those spores. With a final word, a spherical field of telekinetic force surrounded a good-sized portion of the spores, cutting off those inside from those outside in a clean, curving line. It would try to compress inwards, pushing the spores denser and making them a thicker, unmoving target. Should that fail, perhaps it could at least keep them in place.

Well, the situation had simply not advanced sufficiently for him to go anywhere but his car. The thralls weren't important enough to warrant his attention anymore, he was going to have to try and reach out to the original brain of the flower. Instead of just trying to murder it, this time he was going to look for discernible thoughts as well. It was just a flower, but maybe it would be a sentient one. Of course, at the same time he was going to try and shut off all activity that seemed related to life support: respiration, cell regeneration, nutrient transport. Anything.

Even if it hadn’t done anything - and exactly because it hadn’t done anything - Azoth breathed a sigh of relief when the explosives released mostly as the gasses of their base elements, and the rest simply failed to detonate. But it would probably be for the best if she attacked something else.
The original flower seemed the best target for the swiftest victory. Because of the people around the bloom, Azoth tried a slightly different tactic, that was a little less likely to catch others in an explosion. First she removed a chunk of dirt about two feet below the flower; then, before anything else could seep in, C-4 appeared to fill the hole. And then it detonated.
Azoth was about to do the same again when she caught an unknown yet strangely familiar face in her peripheral. It took her a moment to place who the girl was, and only because of the black suit she wore and the helmet in her hands. Azoth blinked and stared wide-eyed at her friend. But, before she could say anything, Unhallow was gone, running towards the building.
“Unhallow has long hair.” She stated to no one in particular, of all the things. She wasn’t sure why that stuck out to her or why it needed to be voiced, but it did and she had.
Azoth mentally shook herself awake and turned her attention back to the battle, even if half of her mind was unconsciously busy converting Unhallow’s face to memory.

Wrath watched with scorching intensity as Pride spoke. What had gotten into him? His words had filled her with a sense of strength and determination. Who knew mister 'Look-at-me' could actually be inspiring. And then he had to preform a godlike act of strength. Holy crap, that was sexy. Her flames sparked out of existence for a moment before roaring viciously back to life.
"Hot damn Pride, that was sexy."
With a saucy wink she sent waves of voracious flames after the thralls. It was time to stop gawking. And start kicking some motherfucking ass. That is when she heard Gluttony's voice. She turned and shook her head as he engulfed her in his arms.
"Sorry Glut, I haven't seen Lust since one of her pets crashed into a building over there," she motioned with her head, "And I haven't seen Envy at all."
The thought of her friends being injured and missing made her livid. That's the last goddamned straw! This whole city will burn if it has to! That fucking flower will die! That's when she realized that the larger man was starting to crush her. She wiggled violently to get out.
"Dammit Gluttony! I can't bloody breath!"

Carl smirked at the dragon as the cats swarmed the original flower. It almost seemed to have not liked him bringing along his spectral friend. That alone made the decision worth it, let alone all the other potential benefits. Still, targeting the original flower didn't seem to be having the immediate effect that he'd been hoping for. He had Big Martin withdraw the cats momentary in order to move around the battlefield and find a more vulnerable target.
Instead, what he found was a certain bird apparently trying to find him. Jay's request was met with a quick summoning of Bardtholomew, a finger pointed at the former Bulwark, and the words "mass produce". Suddenly, Jay would find himself surrounded by his not-quite-lookalikes to command as needed, as Carl sped away on his newfound ally's tidal wave of felines.

It was almost easy to forget the Spring Pollen Swarm of Death when there was nothing but spike-covered roads, suffocatingly polluted air, and two friends fighting for their lives. Limen decided to flip on the radio - turning it away from a news channel that was talking about political candidates if only to fill air space, and turned up whatever rock music was popular right now. She still held her bow in one hand (mostly because Lust was in the way on her back), but didn’t shoot any more arrows. That didn’t seem to have done much, and not crashing was just slightly more important that pinging some sharpened sticks off a building side.
“Hey, so, after we kill this thing, you guys want to go get dinner sometime?” Limen asked nonchalantly, like she did after or during most battles. “I’ll treat - I got this nice stack of money recently and at least some of it has to be spent on food.”
Her eyes drifted towards the large tower looming above. Maybe driving towards the center of all this was a bad call, but Limen rarely made good ones.

Siren growled as she realized that her abilities had no effect on the bloody creation flower. Blast and damnation! Her fists clenched tightly as her eyes looked for another target. The only one close enough to her was the original bud. And even that was several stories above her. With a sigh she grabbed a nearby vine and began climbing upward. When she finally reached the rooftop, she threw her hands toward the plant as pheromones emanated from her palms. If this worked the plant would feel lethargic and exhausted.

Considering the amount of yelling going on in the distance, Pride was clearly alright. Knowing the other Sins were still alive meant one less thing to worry about. At the moment, Envy was a little more concerned about her own safety since a bunch of zombies just tried to kill them, but the other supers did a good enough job clearing out the bad guys. It should be enough for now, but she still kept an eye out for another ambush.
Her attempts at weakening the dragon seemed to work out okay. Willingly absorbing more of that junk inside her body sounded dumb, but if it helped save people, that didn't matter. She wasn't the important one here. Envy was used to suffering for others benefit. This wasn't anything new.
So she targeted the stupid flower once again, to make sure it didn't actually manage to hurt anyone else. Part of whatever energy the dragon used to attack would now go directly to her. Most of it went towards filling out her normally slight figure, regaining a few of her lost curves.
The feeling of growth felt so good that Envy missed half of Limen's the conversation. There might have been some important detail in the first half that would've prompted her to decline, but she felt like taking the risk and agreeing without asking for more information. She was interested in getting to know some of the other members of Pandaemonium anyway. Might as well start here. "Uh, sure. I'll go. You don't have to pay for mine, though."

Pride's perfect ears were on the listen for his Sins reaction to his fantastic inspiring superb speech and suddenly a compliment that he had almost believed to be Lust for a moment til he saw the dying and reignition of flames. She liked that speech, well of course she would but she actually appreciated. He could leap to the moon, he felt so much power. Then a dog had to ruin the moment as he couldn't see Gluttony's possessed hug, but heard his favored sin in trouble. Big mistake friend.
"GLUTTONY YOU BASTARD RELEASE HER THIS INSTANT!!!"
Hmph there was no guarantee that that would reach the glutton's ears and little chance his friend would actually listen to his fantastic advice. Normally he wouldn't lower himself to his level and show him why he was the leader, but she was his and he also swore he had some encouragement in the back of his head. He allowed himself to fall through the air for a bit, going through the thick spore cloud once more. When he was about a quarter of the way down, he spun once and launched himself off the wall of the building, leaving a crater and afterimage in his wake as he landed next to the pair of sins, hand digging into one of Gluttony's arms before he spun to pull the larger sin off his flame.
"OBEY...YOUR...LEADER...MONGREL!!!!!"
He heard a snap and actually couldn't tell if him, Gluttony, or Wrath had pulled something but didn't have time to care as he added one more spin before tossing Gluttony into the crater the glutton had made with that final punch. He attempted brushing spores off his suit with a growl, how filthy was this battle to be. He sighed before turning to Wrath.
"You alright my flame?"

Toko was typically a calm individual, there were moments of annoyance and where he would judge others, but very few times he showed actual anger. Having the dragon whisper in the back of his head, for example, was an annoyance, something he could handle as long as the thing did not focus it's attention upon him. It using what was essentially a malformation of necromancy was a personal insult to his research and one that had him turning his aim elsewhere.
"The thralls won't die to anything I brought on me today, but if I can't get that voice out of our heads...I consider that a victory."
Toko loaded an unnaturally large shell into the rifle and took aim once again, this time at the blossom that was causing mental chaos, and once again pulled the trigger with a thundering boom as a golden bullet with runes upon flew through the air. Mjolnir had fired once again, and this time it was going to kill and make sure it stayed dead.

Even the thralls couldn't keep their eyes off Lust. She gave the horde of horrific undead monsters a sly wink as she blew past them all, giggling to herself as Limen's speeding bike left them in the dust. They were approaching the building itself, now, and she could hear Pride's thunderous voice yelling at everyone. The outburst made her smile with amusement. She'd never have thought it, but hearing the pompous dork mouthing off was actually quite encouraging.
Of course, she wasn't about to let Mister Bighead outdo her. His battle cries were powerful, but she was the one whose words carried true power. As the motorcycle sped past a tunnel entrance, she shouted her own words of encouragement to those down below, an ecstatic scream to invigorate men and women alike. "FUCK THAT DRAGON RIGHT UP THE ASSSSSSS!"
Hopefully they wouldn't take her literally.
Her job done for the moment, she leaned a little harder on Limen, and let out a small, contented noise of assent. "Yes please. Nothing like eating a nice, romantic dinner together before we-" The bike bounced off a rough chunk of terrain, cutting her off mid-sentence. "Whoa!" It was hard to sound seductive while riding on a speeding vehicle that bucked like a wild horse beneath her. She'd ridden rougher things in the past, but it was still enough to make her hold on tight and keep her lips firmly closed for a moment, though her wide eyes and lascivious smile spoke as much of her desires as anything she might have said.

"Yep," Geata said in response to Azoth stating the obvious, his voice quiet and distracted. "I've known that since the Cetus fight. Bad times all around for her then." Geata's brief, one sided introduction to Unhallow had been when she had been completely battered and unconscious, and her suit had been damaged enough that her hair had been spilling out. But that wasn't what Geata was thinking about, not really. He had seen the attack and, though it was from a distance and they had only met the once for a very brief time, recognized the victim.
He had done a little research into Balance in his free time after she had healed him and likely saved his life following the fight with Cetus. He hadn't had a chance to meet her again and thank her, and now it was clear he wouldn't have that chance. Even though she was a Panda, a villain, she had helped him. And he would never get a chance to repay her.
Sliding his mask off his face, he went and gave Azoth a hug and a quick kiss on her forehead. "I'll be back here in a little bit," he said quietly as he pulled away. "Don't you dare die while I'm gone." Returning his mask to his face, he dropped through a portal.
Aurora was significantly harder to find than she usually was, but even the lack of a cloud of sparkles didn't mean that it would take Geata long to find her. Once he did, he dropped down near her, and was both expectant of and surprised by the state she was in. He walked gently towards the leader of Pandaemonium and dropped down beside her, wrapping his arms around her. It didn't matter what she'd try to do, unless she intended on killing him he wouldn't let go.
"It's not your fault," he said softly, although he was sure she could list off a dozen reasons why she was to blame. It didn't matter what they were, though, Geata knew she wasn't and wanted to show her support. He realized there were likely better ways to go about doing that, but they didn't have the time, currently. He could figure out something later, if she'd give him the chance.
Meanwhile, he continued to use his portals to throw rubble, but this time at the building itself. If he could make some new doorways for the other supers to get inside, they'd be able to fight more effectively, he reasoned. It was also less straining on his already tired mind than opening even more portals for extended periods of time. If he tried doing that, he could very well start to lose his hold of the other portals, not that people seemed to be coordinating quite as much anymore.
