Normally, Geata wouldn't hesitate to take a leisurely stroll through the new Pandaemonium base of operations. As far as he was concerned, he had every right to. He had helped the esteemed sparkly dictator obtain the building, which he felt was more than enough on its own. Besides that, though, he was also currently inhabiting Dullahan-designed tech, and was good friends with a number of other big name members of the gang. If people had issues with a Keeper strutting about like he owned the place, they'd be hard-pressed to find somebody that agreed that was important enough that he'd listen to. It didn't hurt that they literally couldn't keep him out, either. Still, he found himself very hesitant to actually go inside. It wasn't because people might be upset that he was there - he didn't care how random people felt about him being wherever. It was that he was avoiding talking to Aurora as much as possible, and the entire reason he'd go inside Panda Inc. is that he had something to talk to Aurora about. He was acutely aware of the confusing nature of his situation. Despite what Seraphim had said, Geata was pretty sure that Aurora was not somebody who held him in any sort of high regard. In fact, he was confident that it was more likely that she outright hated him than her having any goodwill towards him. The fact that she agreed to help with his plot involving the news station was probably meant nothing more than she wanted to see if a different approach worked or something. That was why he had put off talking to her for as long as he did. Still, it was something that he thought needed to be done eventually, so he finally managed to talk himself into trying to talk to her. Having learned his lesson from the first time they had spoken since he was killed, Geata was going to try and stay out of her sight so she wasn't bothered by his lack of a flesh suit. He skipped past the lobby and everything and instead entered the building via portal located just off of the doorway of her office. He knocked on the doorway, hoping against hope that he wasn't interrupting something important. "Aurora, do you have a minute that I can waste?" Geata asked, honestly expecting an immediate denial. "I... I've got something I'd like your help with, if you're willing to hear me out." Aurora Disicio

Aurora's desk was covered in newspapers from several sources, magazines ranging from tabloid to business, and two laptops both of which had dozens of tabs to various news outlets, 'news' outlets, and various questionable sites of varying opinions that simply give their opinions on the news. With as much bias as there was in the media, and how likely things were to not be reported on, this was the only reliable way (along with listening to what people were saying around the docks) for her to get the news and caught up on current events. It was painful, often physically painful given how stupid some of the stuff she read was, but it was worth it in the end. She didn't have time to do it every day anymore, but she made sure to at least comb though everything twice a week.
She was skimming through a very dull celebrity gossip article about how this one actress was tooootally cheating on her husband with a woman no less! and what she thought of it was evident on her face. Aurora still felt the need to go through crap like this just to see what famous people were saying. They did tend to get exact quotes and say where they were, what they were doing, and what they were advocating for a the moment, so it was worth skimming through the worst of it to make sure nothing was happening. Her face was resting on her hand, and her hand was covering about half her face because of the second-hand embarrassment from reading this. The knock on her door was welcome at this point. She waved her free hand in a way that was somehow completely dismissive, yet was clearly meant to motion him to come inside.
"Yes, now is a good time. Come in."
Aurora closed the magazine and slid it to the side to get it out of the way. Her desk was still a mess, but she wanted that magazine in particular where she couldn't see it so she could forget about it for a few minutes. From there, she sat up straight in her chair, rested her hands on her desk in front of her and looked right towards the door, and then right at him once he entered. She wanted to look professional, but she still looked a little bit irritated because of what she was just reading.
"What do you want?"

Geata was taken slightly aback by the invite in. He wondered if she realized who it was that was bothering her, but quickly decided it didn't matter. If she realized after he entered the office, he would exit the room just as quickly as he entered the building in the first place. He imagined it wouldn't take long for her to tell him to get out if she was so inclined. And so, timidly, he stepped into the office. The look of irritation she already had did nothing to reassure him.
If Aurora didn't immediately change her mind, Geata'd take a seat across from her. He took a brief second to arrange his thoughts and a couple more to try and get past the crippling self-consciousness of him being a brain in a robot body and his awareness that such a thing probably weirded out most people, including Aurora. When he did start speaking, his tone was calm, though.
"There are a few things I'd like to take this opportunity to discuss with you, if you have the time, but I'll cut right to the chase and discuss the most important topic first in case you don't." He paused to find proper wording. When he spoke again, his nerves were showing through his voice. "I suppose the blunt version is that I'm trying to fix Azoth, who happens to be my girlfriend. Longer version is that I'm hoping to get her to stop killing people and doing things that might make her a target for, say, scary mind reader lady from the dragon fight that apparently knows all there is to know about everyone. Or at least the more criminally inclined of you amongst my group of friends. Anyway, point is, I'd be eternally grateful if you would assist me in this."
"If you'd be willing, I'd like to arrange a meeting between the two of you. It'd likely happen over in Geataland, neutral territory and all that. I'm not exactly expecting it to be a friendly chat, which is one reason why I'd be there to moderate; and I'm honestly not too hopeful that it would work out the way I'd prefer, which brings me to the second reason: I learn mostly by observing. If I can see what works and what doesn't, I can apply it pretty well, it seems. I'd be doing my best to note what works in this proposed conversation, in the hopes of better understanding how to handle this effectively."
He paused again, this time to make sure he's not forgetting major details before moving on. He also spent the time wondering if maybe he should give a minute for Aurora to ask any questions, but he decided it would be best to cover all of the major bases he could think of before doing that. It would likely make things simpler, which she would probably appreciate to some degree.
"I'm not asking you on a whim or anything like that, Aurora. I've put some thought into this, even if you probably don't think so. But you're probably the only person I can go to that would be willing to help with this and that would be serious in your approach to it. Blue Jay and Limen probably wouldn't make for the most reliable assets for this. The Keepers that I know would be even worse for this than them. The scary lady made it sound like it was mostly up to me to figure out what ought to be said, but I'm an idiot as you well know. It's one thing to hear that 'I need to exert my maximum influence over Azoth', but it's another thing entirely to know how to do that. I need a starting point, at the very least. And I'm still admittedly hoping that it might go well to the point that there wouldn't need to be conflict between the two of you in the future."
He paused one last time, looking out the window in the room. "I'm sorry, that turned into much more of a speech than I wanted. If you have questions, I'm happy to answer them. If you need time to think it over or anything, I'll get out of your hair. Again, sorry that took longer than expected."

Aurora listened for the entirety of his speech, though she was showing signs of zoning out about halfway through. Her answer was clear from the moment he mentioned Geataland, but even without that she didn't want anything to do with any of this. It made all the explanation unnecessary, but she didn't fault him for trying to explain. Explanations were necessary to be persuasive and to make sure the other person could actually help. When she responded, her expression flattened, but she still tried to maintain her professional demeanor.
"I refuse. The fact that you have the audacity to come to me for help while you're still making an open mockery of me, and then suggesting that area is somehow neutral territory is telling enough on its own. I have no idea how you can even date a person like that, and I'd prefer not to find out. A meeting would be a waste of time because there's nothing to talk about. Her, and the rest of her kind, are and have always been my enemies and no amount of discussion is suddenly going to change that. You can't just fix people like you can fix a car."

Geata regretted bringing up Geataland once Aurora started talking. Still, the mistake had been made, and he needed to keep going. Aurora had made her decision, and he wasn't expecting to change her mind anytime soon. A few comments needed to be made, though, in response. Then, once done with that, he'd move on to the second topic. Such was the plan decided from several.
"It's not-" he started to insist, but he knew full well how Aurora would feel about it. The second he started to try and defend his actions, he realized he wouldn't be able to for long, so he quickly changed his tune. "Okay, okay, I suppose it probably does seem like I'm making fun of you with that. I assure you that's not the intention, but I see your point and can understand your decision. Like I said before, I can't get anyone else who'd be able to help, so I'll try to figure something else out. If it's not too much trouble, though, I'd appreciate it if you'd at least not try to start any trouble with her. I'll be asking the same of her, so hopefully I won't have to try and worry about that. If the two of you were to start fighting, I don't know what I'd be able to do besides just dropping the both of you on opposite sides of the city. That would just be a big waste of time for everyone involved, don't you agree?"
He waited for a few beats before moving on the subject that he expected to take up the bulk of the conversation, assuming Aurora was willing to oblige him with an answer.
"On to topic number two, then. Aforementioned scary lady said a few things about you. Like coming to you for help with that would be a waste of time, for instance. She didn't seem to hold you in very high regard, honestly, but one thing that she said really stuck with me. She said, and I quote, that you 'have some goodwill' towards me. Now, assuming that she was right and wasn't lying for whatever reason," he said as he tilted his head inquisitively, "why in the hell do you have some goodwill towards me? Jay's told me about the qualifications for you to like a person, so I know it's not anything involving that. I'll save you the spiel about how unlikable I am, but you're honestly one of the last people I expected to not outright hate me."
He looked at Aurora, his confusion and concern evident as far as he could tell. "You're not, like, terminally ill or anything are you? Because other than impending death, I can't wrap my head around a reason that makes sense."

"I'll tell you what I told her," her eyes narrowed. "If she so much as looks at anyone in Pandaemonium funny I'll bury her in a mountain of rubble. I will not let her use any of my people for her own purposes, and I will not let them be anyone's personal army. Should we ever come into conflict for other reasons, my usual rules of engagement apply. I won't break those. I don't have any reason to actively pursue her for the moment, and as long as that doesn't change, I won't. Everyone on Malachite Isle will have their reckoning someday, but I'm too busy with other things to even consider going after that island right now, so she'll be safe for the time being. That's all I am willing to give. I will not let anyone hurt anyone in Pandaemonium."
Her expression was sharp throughout the whole conversation. People could associate with whoever they wanted, but Aurora had no intention on going easy on people just because they were friends with someone she knew. Their relationships didn't change what they were or what they were doing in the end.
The next question made her expression soften again, but it was clear from looking at her that she could hardly believe she was being asked something like this. Was she about to be interrogated about friendship again? It was bad enough the first time, the last thing she needed was another idiot putting her through that again. There just wasn't a lot to talk about. Aurora sighed, folded her arms, and leaned back in her chair.
"It'd be more accurate to say I have a degree of goodwill towards most everyone. Obviously people I like will have more, but I still have some towards people I don't particularly like either as long as they're not outright evil. I also tend to have more towards people that actively try to help me, and less for people that try to use me for their own ends and manipulate me. If you were planning on cashing that in, don't push it."

Geata nodded as Aurora stated her thoughts on leaving Azoth alone. He wondered briefly if Seraphim might have neglected to inform him of important details, but he decided it likely wasn't important. What was offered was gracious enough, especially if he were to be successful in figuring out how to get Azoth to be less inclined to want a personal army. He also wondered if Pandaemonium was anything besides Aurora's personal army considering how she was in charge and given her general personality, but he knew better than to say anything. Pointing that out would only lead to one of her famous ideological rants, and Geata honestly preferred to not poke the metaphorical bear.
"Alright, that's more than enough," he said. "I'm confident that I can keep her away from the Pandas, so hopefully there won't be any issues there. I can't say that I'll be helping you go after her when that time comes, but I'll be keeping her out of your hair in the meantime. I hope you understand."
Whether he was understood or not didn't concern Geata. He was adamant on his stance concerning the feud. He wasn't going to pick sides unless absolutely necessary, and until then he was going to do his best to keep them from going for each other's throats. He didn't care much if either of them didn't like that he wouldn't be taking their side. He cared about both of them, was going to be doing his best to keep both of them from doing anything rash, and was more than willing to smack both of them upside the back of their heads if they needlessly did something stupid or expected anything different from him.
And, speaking of expectations, Geata was somehow not surprised that Aurora was expecting him to try and manipulate her because she didn't hate him. The fact that people kept assuming the worst about him was getting old. He tried to be a nice guy, help people out; doing so was what had gotten him murdered. And yet he was still suspected of being a completely self serving asshole. At least some people appreciated his efforts, he grumbled internally.
"If I was going to try and do that, I would've been more insistent on getting you to help with Azoth," he said. "And all things considered, I don't think asking 'what the hell is wrong with you' is something that would be used to lead to attempting to try and 'cash in' on cheer and goodwill. Actually sounds a lot more like something that would lead to getting punched in the face, honestly. Um... thanks for not taking that wrong way, by the way."
He paused to consider what had been said and debate whether or not it would be too early to bring up topic number three. Considering how he expected topic number three to end up going less than pleasantly, he supposed it would be best to ask important questions while he still had the chance. As such, he quickly came up with something else to talk about instead.
"So, since you apparently don't have any life threatening illnesses that might rob you from this world before your time," he said, jokingly and dramatically, "what's the next big step on your path to a liberated city-state for supers, Aurora? You've already got the docks under your control, and now an official base of operations. I'd imagine it shouldn't take too much longer to get everything into suitable conditions here. Is the next big thing going to be another, grander message to the general public? Or are you going to be trying to take somewhere else under your wing?"

"Will you stop calling us that? We are not pandas."
Aurora folded her arms and her expression flattened again. She remained the same way through all of his objections and awkwardness. At this point, she wasn't convinced he wasn't going to try harder to persuade her to talk to Azoth again. He might not do it today, but if it was as important as he was claiming he brushed it aside way too quickly for it to be natural. That wasn't important though. Much of her life had been about people wanting her to do things for them and she doubted gaining power like this would make that any better; it would probably just make it worse given how needy people tended to be. She was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now and not harp on it.
"You're telling me that you're both an idiot and that you're completely competent and make good decisions at the same time. Pick one. You're being disingenuous."
The next topic was a welcome distraction. At this point she was just glad he wasn't getting ready to interrogate her about friendship or start rambling about it himself. Still, she didn't have time for such conversations right now, and if he needed something, as his initial question and current demeanor suggested, he needed to get to the point and not beat around the bush.
"Self-sufficiency. I've been looking into hydroponics and other ways to grow food here, as well as seizing any houses I see are being used to make drugs and trying to convert the yards into small farms. I figure eventually I'll give someone the houses and they can take care of the garden, but I'm doing most of the work for the time being. I'm thinking about building a bridge to one of the closer islands and building a few more farms, and hopefully a power plant, out there. In the mean time, I'm hoping to put up a couple of wind turbines on the sides of some of the taller buildings to generate a bit of energy. I also need to find a long term solution to generate some income so I can put the people here to work, but that's been proving difficult. Now, was there something you wanted to talk about or are you just here to interrogate me on whatever comes into your head?"

"Hey, I only started to referring to y'all as such after I had heard a few amongst your ranks saying it themselves." Whether this was true or not, Geata didn't exactly remember, but it sounded believable enough that he was willing to say that there was probably a legitimate chance of it being true. "Besides, my meaning obviously gets across, and it's a lot less of a mouthful. I'll stop saying it around you, but I make no promises for the long term."
Geata was attempting to stall some more, and Aurora's thoughts on self sufficiency were an even more surprisingly welcome topic (especially since he couldn't figure out the right words to justify his idiocy or competence). Right up until she called him out for stalling, that was. Her bluntness was something that he appreciated, but it made maintaining a conversation difficult. He decided to keep his suggestion to contact his family back east for farming knowledge to himself. Odds were that Aurora probably already thought she knew enough on the subject anyway, he reasoned, and he could always offer it later should Aurora get around to establishing those farms anytime soon. Assuming he didn't put his foot in his mouth and cause his own untimely demise. He hoped Aurora was still in her equivalent of a moderately good mood.
"Alright," he sighed. "I have a contact who shared some interesting information with me in regards to you. Specifically, about you a few years ago. I was told about the basic details, but I didn't want to jump to any conclusions and make incorrect assumptions or anything, so I thought it best to ask you directly."
He paused, not for dramatic effect - though it did cross his mind - but to actually figure out if there was tactful way to frame the question. There probably was but it was alluding him so he decided to mimic Aurora's patented bluntness.
"What happened that night when Gaderian was involved with a fire at the Voclain house?"

That was the third time he quickly capitulated in an awkward way. It was like he was both trying to appease her and saying he didn't actually intend to do anything at the same time. It just made her more suspicious of his motives in the end. Aurora considered how to respond, narrowing her eyes while she did so. However, it sounded like this was yet another excuse to stall given the wordy explanation for such a simple thing. So, she waited for him to finally get to the point.
Aurora put a great deal of effort into protecting her identity in both her super life and her civilian life. She designed her costume so that even if her mask should be removed, she was pretty sure most people wouldn't recognize her still. She couldn't change her bone structure, but she had been in the habit of using make up to contour her face a little differently in her civilian life and made a point to cover up some of the easily hidden features on her face. Aurora wore absolutely no makeup, so she would likely give a different impression. Her clothing made her figure look different, her hair was nothing like her counterpart's, and because of her shoes she even walked differently. Despite all that effort, she knew it was only a matter of time before someone figured out who she was.
The fact that Geata was looking into her history and personal life made her feel a little betrayed. Aurora always figured that the people going after these things would be people trying to use them against her. They wouldn't succeed, but she couldn't see much other reason for searching for this kind of information about her. It was possible that his informant just told him while he was looking for something else, but that seemed unlikely from what she understood of how the Keepers seemed to operate. If information was one of their currencies, then it wouldn't be given out for nothing, especially since it was unlikely there was anything in that information that would turn him against her. Aurora sighed and folded her arms, making sure to never break eye contact with Geata.
"She died. Surely your informant must have at least told you that much."
Not literally of course, but to Aurora, Gaderian was dead and was never coming back.

Geata honestly didn't have much of anything in the way of motives as far as being generally agreeable went. It was just that, in his experience, the best way to avoid conflict with angry, stubborn people was to act like there wouldn't be any need for conflict in the first place. That was why he had relatively quickly shifted the subject from Geataland. He touched on it enough that it would seem reasonable to think that he wasn't avoiding the subject, and then avoided everything about it because it was something that he wouldn't be complacent over. Everything else he simply hadn't had high expectations of really working in the first place, with the exception of Aurora not trying to go after Azoth. And he had gotten enough to work with on that subject, so he simply didn't see the need to ask for more.
Her general demeanor when asked his question gave Geata the impression that Aurora was irritated with it. However, she always seemed irritated and he wasn't missing any important parts so it was probably a safe enough conversation to continue with further. Even if it turned into an ideological rant, he could stand it if it helped sate his curiosity and confusion regarding the situation.
"That's... not exactly what I meant, Aurora," he said with an uncomfortable chuckle. "According to the Google machine, Gaderian means 'unity', yeah? I doubt that coincidence. And, judging by how you are now and how you were apparently a 'pacifist heroine'- you have my respect for trying to go about everything from that angle first, by the way- I also doubt that you resorted to arson. So, my guess is that you were trying to help, people either thought you were responsible or just simply didn't like that, and... the police got involved." Geata doubted that going into further detail was necessary or would be appreciated.
"So, is that what led to the Aurora Disicio of today?" He asked, his voice judgment-free. "You saw how horrible people are towards supers and decided to do something about it, so that nobody else is put into a situation like you were?"

"Then you should have asked about what you wanted instead of just making a vague leading question. There's a lot of different directions that could have gone and a lot of different things you could have been looking for," she huffed. "It's a verb, not a noun, but close enough."
Aurora sighed, leaned back in her chair and looked at the ceiling. This was a deeply uncomfortable subject for her, and at this point she was wondering if the potential conversation about friendship would have been better. After a moment's thought, her eyes returned to him.
"No, Gaderian was the result of people being horrible to supers. Hell, my parents think they should all be rounded up and killed. I naively though that I could change their minds and then everyone could be very best friends and live together peacefully. Then I had a few months to myself in the hospital after I was nearly killed twice with in the span of less than two weeks, and I finally managed to convince myself that wasn't going to work, so I changed my methods. The goal itself was always the same."

"You're griping at me like this is the first time you're realizing I'm bad with words," Geata huffed in response. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around how to go about having conversations that aren't just going through the motions. Sue me."
Aurora's answer to his question was met with a surprise that Geata doubted should have been present in someone who had allegedly done their homework. He was, however, informed enough that he wasn't as surprised by Aurora's statements as he would've been had she said any of them and he hadn't stumbled upon Azoth's potential blackmail information (he made a mental note to inform Azoth that she may as well forget about trying that with Aurora anyway). He knew about her parents and their views on their daughter's presumably unknown extracurriculars, for instance. He knew about her brush with death on the night of the fire. But this was the first he had heard about another attempt on her life.
Geata, recent events cluing him in to just how sensitive a topic nearly dying is, took a few moments to prepare his words with more care. "I can't imagine how it must have been when you discovered your powers, with parents like that," he said, acutely aware of the fact that he was probably not succeeding at handling the conversation with the proper care he should've. He sighed as he continued. "I... wasn't aware that it had happened twice, Aurora. The information I obtained only mentioned the night of the fire."
Geata searched for a specific enough question that he couldn't be accused of being too vague while still avoiding being harsh and blunt. He wasn't particularly pleased with what came to mind, but he assumed it would probably work well enough. "Were the police involved the same way the other time as they were the night of Gaderian's death?" he asked tentatively, not wanting to refer to it as "the night of the fire" over and over.

"Your informant's either not very good at this or is holding out on you. Either way you should replace them," Aurora scoffed, straightening up in the chair. "Why the hell are you even looking into my personal history? What does it have to do with anything?"
How much more was he intending on asking? Aurora understood that leaving the conversation on that note might be a little awkward, but she couldn't say she was looking forward to reliving the worst year of her life over and over again to satisfy his curiosity. She sighed again and rubbed her temples. The only reason she was even humoring this was so that he would have a better understanding of her and hopefully wouldn't make the same mistakes.
"No, I doubt anyone that hasn't directly experienced the possibility that their parents might want to kill them will ever be able to imagine what it's like. Especially if they don't have a means of moving out yet or otherwise getting away from them. Don't bother trying, you won't even get close."
Aurora had to pause for a moment and take another deep breath before she could continue. "Probably because it was less an attempt on my life and more the inevitable result of what happens when you beat someone with a fence post and strangle them. I was harassed by a group of people, in a way that could only be described as torture, for the year I was active. Sometimes even in full view of other people, most of, at least for the ones that weren't pretending like they didn't see or hear anything, seemed to find it at least appropriate if not outright good or amusing. But I digress. I used my power as a mask then. I eventually passed out, so the light around my face disappeared and I can only assume that seeing my face completely covered in blood with half my teeth missing while I went limp in their hands was enough to make them freak out and run away. No police involvement, they dragged me to a secluded area first, but even if the police had shown up I suspect I would have been the bad guy anyway."

"Honestly, I wasn't intending to," Geata said sheepishly. "I asked him to find out everything he could about the supers in the city. In hindsight, I should've told him not to look into my friends, but it was only a few days after my encounter with Sin Eater. It slipped my mind. Sorry." It was a lie, and probably not a very good one, but he was hoping that the addition of the excuse was enough to distract from that. If not by simply adding credibility, then at least by having Aurora get mad over that instead of focusing on potential flaws. "So far I've gotten information on you, a Keeper called 'The Revelation', Anonymous, and Sin Eater."
Aurora's comments on her parents gave Geata pause. "Normally, this would be the part where I'd tell people that they need to be appreciative of what they've got," he sighed quietly after a few seconds, "but I'll save you that spiel too. I... I'm sorry that's what your parents are like, Aurora. If you ever need someone to vent to, just give me a shout, okay?"
The description of her year as Gaderian was met with even more silence. "That alone is justification enough for your dislike of the unpowered masses," he muttered aloud. "I'm assuming you've revisited those people in the time since you've dropped the mantle of pacifism, yes?"
Whether she had or not, Geata was appalled by the actions of people. He was almost hoping that they were all from the Malachite Isle group so that he could say that those wouldn't be the actions of normal people like what he considered himself to have been, but a part of him knew he had false hope. He hadn't cared much one way or the other about powered people before developing his own powers; up until a short time before then, he had lived in the middle of nowhere and had felt detached from them as a result. But people who lived in the city, who had spent their lives or a sizable chunk of it at least with supers around, were liable to view the situation differently. If what Aurora said was true, he honestly couldn't count on the hope that goodwill towards their fellow man was a trait held by most. It was probably a good thing he'd stuck to the shadows so much when he was still figuring out his powers, a part of him said wistfully.
"I'm sorry about bringing this up at all, Aurora," he said. "I just... I heard about what had happened and I wanted to make sure you were as alright as could be expected. It was a terrible idea, and probably pointless. I'll, uh, I'll head out now unless there was anything that you wanted to say while I'm here."
