"But you lose points if it turns out there's mud on your shoes."

Kase stops and stares for a moment, certain he's humoring her and just going along with their banter, but the fact remained that he did so in the first place. Mud or not, she cracks up, covering her mouth with her hands to stifle the sound in the library. No one likes a grumpy librarian glare.
"I wonder what the verdict is." She didn't see any mud on them, but Greyson's the one with the up close inspection.
