Post by Blue Jay on Jul 3, 2016 19:52:12 GMT -7
The response to the dragon was swift. Blue Jay felt like he didn’t know in person half of the people here, but those he did know he was glad to see. Lobisomem’s roar said he’d have a long-time ally there to back him up. Titan was… frightening, but it was well warranted. Every second they wasted was hundreds more deaths. He couldn’t afford to be anything less than perfectly focused.
“Counting on you.” Blue Jay said before vanishing. He’d be trusting Stunt Double, for that as well as to not do anything that would get him killed in his place.
Regardless of that strange note left in the Bulwark HQ, Blue Jay’s plan would’ve been the same: keep hitting it with his sword until it died and pray that he and none of his friends got killed in the process.
It was rare for Blue Jay to teleport directly up. His sword would take most of the fall, but it was a good way to break his legs if he wasn’t careful. When he vanished, he appeared over the rooftops crumbing with the dragon’s powers. Below him was the main body.
The only care he took was to not hit the other super attacking from above. Besides that, Blue Jay didn’t hold back. With five quick swipes, five shockwaves blasted out from his sword, each at a different angles and all aimed for the body of the dragon. With Titan holding the thing in place, he could focus his efforts on power rather than not missing. Each wave, outlined in the sky with a thin white line, shot down at the dragon’s back. Stone touched by the waves was obliterated with the force. It was time to see just how strong this dragon’s skin was.

Chaos awaited as Awenydd reached the edge of the battle, sweet and glorious chaos. Or at least, it would have been if she didn't have to force herself to stay away from troublesome thoughts like who might not be making it tomorrow; would she know them? She could have easily been one of them. But the sobering thought had no place when a call to action had been given. She could see some people talking to one another near a bulldozer, and a good dozen or so supers attacking the giant whale-like creature that had a ton of guns and a licensee to make their existence miserable while it lasted. She wasn't sure where she would be most effective in a fight like this, especially if people were trying to make themselves overheard. She'd ditch the idea of a speaker for now, lyrics too, and focus on the group of people closest to her and the problem they faced. Double the trouble, double the fun; the tails were going to be Awenydd's opening gig tonight. She nears the area, but stays away from anything up close and personal. She readies Ophelia, the only friend and ax guitar a girl needs, and rips a sick jam to boost those fighting against the...eye-gun tail things. Wicked. Deadly, but wicked. Post by Geata on Jul 3, 2016 20:28:05 GMT -7
Geata watched what everyone else was doing while he thought out his attack. Everyone else seemed to be rushing in haphazardly, but he doubted that everyone was so reckless. Still, he couldn't help but admire the people that charged in. That took serious guts and he knew it. Seeing them risking everything like that, considering how the dragon was tearing everything to pieces just by being near it, was inspiring.
Deciding to take advantage of the rubble being thrown about by the combined efforts of everything else, Geata opened up portals that would shoot the debris at the main body. It wasn't so much an all out attack as it was trying to find out how much the dragon's distortion would protect it.
After this, the young super turned and appraised everyone else on the battlefield. It seemed like there were a few groups that were somewhat organized, but the complete fighting force didn't seem to be a unit. Still, it wasn't like it was a problem yet. Geata had no doubts that lack of a leader wasn't going to be an issue forever. For now, though, the dragon at hand was issue enough to worry about it at a later time.

“Holy shit,” Anonymous shouted in surprise, “guess nothing bring all supers to one place than a dragon appear.”
He had never seen this much supers gathering around in one place, helping each other to defeat this creature. Foes become allies, all fighting in order to save their city from destruction. Since the creature is burrowing from one place to another, the only thing that he could see clearly is its dorsal fin. Around the area it’s seems that most supers are heading toward the end, where he assumed its tail might be hidden below the surface.
Anonymous stay clear from the creature’s destruction; he might be a super but he isn’t suicidal, at least not yet. With the data he gathered in City Hall, the creature must have a weak point somewhere in the body. If he can find it, he can perhaps let those who can be quick enough to get there to strike it.
Since this thing has multiple eyes all over its body, especially its tail, Anonymous need to make sure its vision is hinder somewhat in order for the other, more aggressive supers, to charge in. As long as he can see the dorsal fin, he can gain some minor control of the creature.

Siren wasn't getting anywhere asking questions. Biting her lip, she tried to think of some way to help out. She doubted that her screams were going to help out this time. And invisibility only helped her out... Or did it? Perhaps if she could easily escape the dragon's notice She could sneak around and find weak points for the others to attack. Or at least more advantageous/ safer gathering points. Now she just needed some way to communicate. Glancing around she saw someone handing out coms. She took one and ran toward the tail, going invisible as she did so. She prayed to god somehow she'd didn't die.

Post by Misty on Jul 4, 2016 0:20:02 GMT -7
The people that had been mobbing those officers had fled and the officers themselves looked very pale. The one she was farther away from put his hand on his gun. Misty dropped the radio. In a mere moment, she had in one hand, the first officer's gun, and in her second, the hand of the second officer, his gun drawn up to his hip before her hand caught it.
“You have to listen to me, to take this seriously. Have you ever seen a dragon before? Have you ever heard anything about any cities having ever survived a dragon attack? I haven’t. And this is the third dragon attack that I have come across. No one ever survives. The supers, they may have a chance, if they put aside the differences of their factions and do their best to fight together. But the regular people, all those that are truly human, they don’t have a chance. You people don’t trust us, but in this instance, you have to trust me. Get the people out of this city. Do everything in your power to get the entire police force to get every person out of this city that they can. This isn’t a game.”
With that, she retched her hands away, causing the unsuspecting officer to lose his grip his gun. She dropped the guns about a yard and a half from the officers, and by the time they had recovered their weapons, she had melted into the shadows and was gone.
Misty prayed that they would listen, that they would do their best. But in the back of her head she knew, knew that they would try to fight the dragon. But she had tried. There were others that needed her more. She turned in her shadowy path and ran. Ran like she hadn’t run since the the roman invasions. Silently she asked the Goddess to give her the swiftness and grace of a deer. And then she steeled herself, and ran even harder.
It seemed like hours before she reached the part of the city that the dragon had first attacked. There were screams and wails and countless bodies. Buildings had shifted, fallen, burned, ensuring that so many had died.
“Brandon! Brandon!” A woman screamed hysterically nearby. Misty turned towards the voice and found a woman sitting just out of the tumble of a fallen building. A big man lay totally unconscious, but still alive, pinned between a piece of rubble and the street. Misty was so silent in her approach that the woman gasped when she knelt beside her. She placed her hand on the man's head. A small sense of relief rushed through her. His spine was fine. He’d be bruised and sore, but if he was freed, he’d be just fine. His head injury was only minor.
“Your a super!” The woman whispered with horrified breath.
“If that is what you want to call me. I can help him.” Misty told her in the most gentle voice that she could muster. “Come on, I need you to stand clear.”
Misty eased the woman up by the arm. The woman was trembling like a dog that had just been kicked. Misty towed her out of the way, depositing the woman a short distance away before turning on her heel, and going back to where the man lay trapped under the rubble. She sized up the the chunk of rubble. It wasn’t a very large piece of rubble. Misty struck it, once, twice, three times, each time sending massive cracks out from each point of contact. The stone shuddered and split, leaving the man completely untouched as it feel. Misty nursed bone deep bruises on her knuckles for a moment, before they faded away into non existence. Misty did not know what luck was shining down on this man when the rubble feel on him, but his spine was fine. She knelt and touched his head once again, this time healing the massive bruises that covered his back and thighs into a state that should have taken almost a month to reach. She then did something that she never did. Wake a sleeping patient that she had healed. With a clean zap of raw energy.
She didn’t wait for anything more than him dragging himself to his knees before she turned and walked off, towards more screaming.
“Head south and get out of the city as fast as you can.” She called over her shoulder.

Khan rides up on his new motorcycle, racing past several people as he noted some familiar faces. Damn, everyone came out today. It would be harder to stand out, but that was okay. It wouldn't be worth taking down the dragon if there was no audience to witness it.
He drives past a familiar man before pulling a 180 and coming back. Khan pulls up next to Anonymous, turning off the engine as he looks over the creature in the distance.
"What do you make of this?"
Khan's question was direct and to the point. He knew Anonymous had the same information he did and therefore likely came to a similar conclusion he had. As he waits for response he keeps his eyes on the dragon, watching for any attacks heading their way.

As more people began to file in, Destructo felt better about this. If he was going to fight a monster the size of a skyscraper, he didn't want to do it alone. "Aren't you the face of optimism." Destructo said to Dullahan, unslinging a scoped sniper rifle from his back. The thing was huge, with a long barrel, and it looked like it was made to take down a tank.
"Good luck, guys." Destructo said, 'cause what else is there to say before going up against a giant whale covered in guns. Leaning the gun on the edge of the truck, he took aim with his rifle. He doubted it would go very deep if he just hit it in the blubber. But those eyes? Just giant targets. He took aim, then a loud BANG echoed. The bullet shout out of the barrel at 2800 feet per second, heading straight for the beast's eye.

Sanduleak could feel the remnants of the smirk appear on his face at the sight of everyone joining in. He knew a lot of te people from reputation and personal experiences could be major pains in the ass, when aimed at one foe though he'd almost feel sorry for them. If the bloody monster didn't deserve their wrath just by existing. Standing took some effort and he could slightly see why dullahan would make that request but he just shook his head in response.
"Sorry man, gotta be a fair distance to use my powers besides like hell I'm leaving this awesome ride, though next time I call shotgun."
Sanduleak was actually kind of amazed he was able to make that joke in this situation. He blamed nerves that he was now going to ignore as he stared right at the Dragon. The fact that it was just fucking up the area by existing was definitely going to be an issue for the close and mid range fighters. Taking a deep breath, he focused on the area around the one being upheaved by Aurora's power, I've could some major improvements. He glanced quickly making sure each creation he was about to release had a fair amount of light and shape to it before giving a warning.
"Oi don't look at the bulldozer about to be brighter than a star."
He could already his eyes glow while he spoke and waited only a few seconds before releasing the massive flash of light, instead of the usual multi flashes that were his work, and majorly morphed the area around the dragon. Ramps, stairs, platforms, and small walls for cover had been filled and appeared around, giving plenty of options for the mid and close range fighters to run and get different vantage points.

Arcanum did not plan of directly causing too much damage. It was never her specialty, and all the training in the world couldn't fix that. She assassinated targets specifically to avoid direct battles. This time, her best way for being useful involved trolling the dragon long enough for the others to punch a hole through it. Preventing the giant shark from hurting anyone had to inevitably lead to its death.
So she watched and waited. A radio tucked away inside her main body occasionally informed Arcanum on how the rest were doing. If one of the other supers needed assistance, she could make sure they received all the help they needed.

Why did she even bring a weapon to this fight? There was no way to get close enough to stab that dragon. Hell, even if it was safe the blade would most likely chip off without leaving a scratch. The thing tore through buildings like they weren't even there. Whatever Nemesis planned on doing to help, it needed to involve staying as far away as possible.
Stepping off of her motorcycle, an idea gradually formed in her mind. Now that she arrived, it wasn't overly important to keep the bike around. Technically, it did not belong to her in the first place. If it got destroyed there were plenty of other ways to get around. No point in having a plan to get home if holding back lead to her not surviving the night. She knew what she had to do.
The motorcycle sped along without its rider, heading towards the remains of some ruined building. It rode up a makeshift ramp, launching itself high into the air. Nemesis intended on having the bike crash into the stupid looking fin and explode. In hindsight she should have chosen something bigger, like a truck, but there was plenty of time to do that later. It was not like the horrifying dragon was weak enough to go down in one round.

When Unhallow took off at a run, Azoth stopped dead in her tracks. She’d never seen Unhallow do anything remotely active before. She hadn’t heard Unhallow sound like that before, even after failed missions or injury. Prior to this moment, Azoth had been unsure if Unhallow was even capable of running.
What could have caused such a reaction? The surrounding area seemed no different to Azoth than any other nearby block. Perhaps the gore and death toll had finally gotten to them? They had already passed countless bodies, destroyed and splattered in ways that were beyond excessive, but Unhallow was a Keeper. They had to have seen death, perhaps even death on a large scale, before. No, it had to be something else. Azoth took a mental note of the street she was on and the nearby address numbers (the ones she could still read). She would research this later.
Now was not the time to worry. She pushed down the beginnings of adrenaline and the inklings of what she identified to be fear, and spoke into her com device. “Keep your distance from Unhallow. Chances of unintended friendly fire are high.”
She continued towards the dragon at a jog. From here, the largest part of the dragon that she could make out was the large, eyed dorsal fin atop it. She could do something with that.
It was as though a flash grenade had gone off in front of the eye, if said flash grenade was ten times larger than one’s standard grenade. As the light from the first blast was dieing down, a chunk of rubble vanished beside Azoth and a second flash lit up before the eye.

Passion ran through the city, it had taken much too long for him to defend the hospital with his blades and Peace's power, even then Peace had to remain for the time being to make sure it was capable of standing any other onslaught. Though it did allow him the chance to get a head start to the dragon and assist their friend. His light was pure but with a dragon, he would definitely require a passionate blade. Thankful for the blade in his hands, a cheap copy of the ninja's which allowed him to reach his teammate in time to hopefully assist in the first blow. And he had a specific target that he hoped his team would follow him with.
"RESTRAINTS OF JUSTICE!"
With that call, twelve blades suddenly appeared around the beasts tail and impaled the ground around it, in preparation for the second phase of the attack.

He breathed a sigh of relief as he heard the distant but familiar voice of one of his allies. That meant that they were safe, at least for now. There was no way that Passion would have left Peace if she had been in a position that she couldn't handle on her own. He could rest easy and focus on the threat in front of him.
Closing his eyes he stretched out a hand toward the Dragon's tail. The normally bright light around his body flashed to a new degree of brilliance that this city had never seen before from him. It was time to show their true power. The power of friendship, trust, and love. Light would flicker to life like electricity jumping from blade to blade until the light stabilized creating lines between each sword. A ring around the edge and line after line striking through the center of the circle of blades that contained the tail. Titan planned to restrain it in place there? Well they would lend him their strength.
"RESTRAINTS OF JUSTICE!"
Purity's voice echoed that of Passion, as the attack was finished. the sealing circle was complete. Now it just needed to hold long enough so that the others could do their part. He prayed it was enough.

Post by Cetus on Jul 4, 2016 17:00:42 GMT -7
The dragon didn't react immediately to the supers' arrival. It continued to plow forward, apparently more concerned with spreading destruction than with protecting itself, its temporal distortions wiping out another house or small apartment complex every few seconds.
As Geata pelted the dragon with debris, it didn't even seem to notice. Each piece crumbled to dust almost instantaneously upon hitting the smooth flesh of the beast's main body. But it wasn't a complete waste of time. After the third volley, there appeared to be a distinct pattern in that faster pieces of debris were torn apart utterly, while slower ones merely broke apart the way one would expect from hitting a very hard surface.
The dragon did take notice of Limen's efforts to coordinate the supers, however. An eye on its fin glimpsed her between the ruined buildings, and an instant later, the dragon briefly breached out of the ground. Its fin sliced the motorcycle Nemesis launched at it in half, and the resulting explosion didn't stop it from touching its fin's tip to one of the transformers on a telephone pole overhead. There was a blinding flash of light, a loud boom, and an electromagnetic pulse burst through the area. Every earpiece in the vicinity emitted a painful screech, then fell silent, killed by the blast.
But even without radio coordination, Dullahan's bulldozer full of supers had still been able to find a good tactical spot for attacking the dragon. The road on the hillside above was well-positioned for raining attacks on the dragon below, and Dullahan was able to keep up well enough to give his passengers a window of opportunity.
The first thing to actually slow the dragon's rampage was the terrain ahead of it dissolving into Aurora Disicio's particles. The dragon was an unstoppable force, so the rock and asphalt did nothing to slow it down, and removing it only had the effect of exposing it to more attacks. It began sinking deeper into the earth, but the deeper it sank, the deeper Aurora's power was able to dig for it, and soon it was far enough down in a valley carved by her power that the bubble of its distortion field was affecting noticeably fewer of the houses above.
Then it got blindsided by Timezone's rapid attack. The dorsal fin had eyes on both sides, but as one of those eyes took a hit, it closed to protect itself from further damage. The dragon's field of view was briefly narrowed.
Then another eye, this one on the tail, began taking fire from Destructo. The sniper rifle's bullets, while large by human standards, were too small to do any serious damage individually. But as the stream of lead added up, the eye closed itself to prevent the sheer volume of projectiles from permanently disabling it.
As Blue Jay teleported up above, an eye on the dragon's chest glared up at him... then glanced down at Stunt Double, and back to Blue Jay. That eye, too, closed itself, and just in time to get hit by the first of Blue Jay's pressure waves.
As if in pain from the hits that had landed on it, the dragon began to slow, and with Arcanum remaining alert for any attacks from unexpected directions, the other supers had a chance to catch up and attack. Blurry distortions in spacetime flickered constantly around the body, making for a harrowing obstacle course the closer one got to it, but Unhallow's power seemed to be slowing the distortions down, and Sanduleak's power made clear pathways for the heavy hitters to go in. Doubledealer, Gilgamesh, and Lobisomem were all able to get through and begin landing powerful blows on the beast. Blue Jay's flurry of attacks rained down from the heavens while Titan and the cats worked together to prevent the beast from escaping or dodging - its tail apparently had fewer distortions around it, making it easier to hold on.
Balance was able to get through as well. Touching the body was like reaching into an entirely different universe, one with completely alien laws of causality... and then she felt a surge of energy from inside the dragon, blasting through her own power like it wasn't even there and flooding the entire area.
It turns out that the dragon had hardly been hurt at all. It was only charging its power and using the opportunity to lure the supers into a trap.
More distortions suddenly erupted around the dragon, countless dozens of them, reaching deep into the earth and up to the buildings on the surface. The release was wild, uncontrolled, not even aimed at the supers themselves. Instead, the dragon was attacking them indirectly, putting all its focus into the direction of the shift: upward.
A huge dome of displaced matter was forming above the dragon. The flit flit flit of matter and air being moved across space and time was deafening. When the power finally faded, there were thousands of pieces of rubble, some smaller than a person and some consisting of entire uprooted buildings, all tumbling in place above the fight. The field was so dense that it blotted out the moon and stars, leaving the area lit only by Aurora's and Sanduleak's powers.
And then the rubble fell.
The impact could be felt throughout the city. Houses several blocks from the impact were shredded apart by supersonic debris and then flattened by the shockwave that followed. As for the supers directly under the falling debris, even those lucky enough to avoid the bigger chunks were still subjected to a pressure wave capable of blowing out eardrums and peppered by smaller pieces of shrapnel moving easily fast enough to break the skin. Titan himself, as the largest target, took the worst of the impact, a five-hundred ton apartment building falling directly on his head. The only small consolation was that the supers in his shadow were saved from the hits he took in their place.
Where Aurora's power had made a valley, now the area was overflowing with rubble. A rising cloud of dust made it impossible to see anything within. The head of the dragon emerged, followed by its chest... but then it came to a stop. Titan's hand was still holding onto its tail, along with over a hundred cats that had managed to hang on through the attack. Giza's white papers swarmed forth, covering its eyes and preventing the dragon from seeing exactly how it was being held. The combined powers of Passion and Purity drew blades from the sky to impale the appendage and bind it with shining energy.
But the tail's abrupt movement was so fast that there wasn't even time for Hooded Siren to call out a warning from her vantage point. The tail twisted unnaturally, seemingly unconcerned about cutting itself apart against the impaling blades. It sliced all the way through Titan's hand and broke free, scattering Giza's papers to the wind and sending the impaling swords flying. It flicked one way, launching a spray of cats flying several stories into the air, then flicked the other way, slapping a large piece of rubble with impossible velocity and accuracy at HalOS's airborne body. The tail's movements were so bizarre and contrary to physics that it was impossible to get a read on them.
And with that, the dragon was free once again. It changed direction, tipping onto its side to put its dorsal fin at chest level. It traced a wide arc as it turned, the fin effortlessly slicing through a dozen of Bloodbath's creations before heading straight toward Unhallow. Khan was able to recognize and counter the incoming attack, and with Azoth blinding the tail at the critical moment, Unhallow was able to escape with nothing more than a superficial cut. The dragon went upright again as it continued past, leaving the super behind before the effects of the decaying power could begin to add up. The wound dealt by the dorsal fin was insidious, leaving behind a distortion effect that caused any healing to rapidly tear itself apart again, an effect so strong that even Misty's healing powers couldn't remove the light scrape. If the fin had hit more squarely, the consequences could have been dire.
Awenydd's song spurred the heroes to catch up and get back into the fight. The dragon was moving with purpose, now. It seemed to be damaged, with dark spots where the heavier hits had landed, but not to the point of slowing at all. If anything, they seemed to have motivated it to stop wasting time on the relatively small population centers in the suburbs and head straight for downtown. Stopping it for good wouldn't be easy.
Anonymous was able to get a clear look at the monster as it sped away, and with it, a glimpse at its thoughts. The dragon's alien mindset was a struggle to wrap his head around, but a few familiar concepts could be discerned.
Rescue... Exalt... Purify...
