Gradually, Nemesis slowed down to a stop, as her mind diverted its attention away from making the motorcycle move. The arrows from earlier struck the building just fine, but now part of her spirit was inside the building. She could notice things that weren't immediately obvious to the others, which ended being more important that she would've ever expected.

For one, the fact that there were still people trapped inside the tower destroyed any motivation to continue firing on the building. As someone who called herself a hero, she wanted to save them before they were taken over by dragon spores. The less optimistic side of her knew there was a chance that she was already too late, and this was a trap, but how was that different from any other day on the job? Helping people no one else bothered to protect was the entire motivation for starting this dumb superpowered adventure.

Actually, hold on. She wasn't even sure that it would be possible to move on without taking care of these prisoners. She was the Avatar of Vengeance, a follower of the original goddess Nemesis, and could only punish those who deserved it. This disaster was all the stupid dragon's fault; the civilians had done nothing wrong. Trying to destroy the tower would most likely condemn these people to death, just because they chose the wrong place to hide out. Her power wouldn't allow her to even tangentially contribute to that. Not unless those civilians were already converted, but how would she know that for sure, from all the way out here?

Hesitating and trying to think this through all the way might take too long. She certainly didn't have any friends among the supers that were out fighting and did not trust her ability to persuade dozens of people she ordinarily wanted to beat up. Once again, she would have to simply try something and hope that it all worked out okay. Recent activities may have come close to destroying that ability to hope entirely, but she had to believe, at least one more time.

Nemesis drove off the ice bridge and landed on the rooftop of a non-possessed building. Letting out a long sigh, she allowed her spirit to work its way through the security system and attempted to free those trapped inside. She fired another round of arrows to hopefully increase her influence over the tower in order to speed up the process.

If she was wrong, and everyone had already been converted into one of those thralls, Nemesis would take full responsibility and eliminate them all herself.

It appeared as though her efforts to damage the tower were negated somehow. Honestly, Zenith didn't expect for her tiny body to do much but it certainly would have been better for everyone if it had worked out. Rather than attempting to strike the same target once again, she leapt off of the the structure and aimed to land on one of the controlled buildings. She didn't bother to protect the structure from any damage cause by falling at a thousand miles per hour, and would probably crash through the roof instead of landing on it.

The Plague Doctor realized what he had to do as he watched the other heroes begin to head towards the bigger buildings. Take out the spore spawners, stop the plague from spreading. He was a doctor, this city was sick and it needed a cure. As that thought went through his head, he laughed at the dumb joke. Anyone watching would think he was crazy.

He moved through the spikes towards the nearest spore spawners. It was about time that someone hit these things with as much as he could. "Time for someone to end this plague!" He screamed and through his hands out again, summoning as much as he could to throw his power around himself once again.

He tried to bubble his attack around the spore generator. Not knowing at all what it would do.

Carl simply hung back for a while, watching as the Jay army managed to... be more or less useless. He supposed that was a vague command for such a small number of pawns, but luckily they weren't a complete waste. They seemed to still do a thing here or there, and they seemed to be drawing the attention of an infected here and there, but there were too few too spread out for it to make any real difference. Luckily, that could be changed easily.

"Bardtholomew, mass produce. Same blueprints as before."

Within moments, another hundred generic Jay's existed, ready to give their short and meaningless non-lives in order to protect those who weren't going to fade out of existence within a few minutes. Their orders were to take hits for the supers, and it seemed that a large number were about to be targeted by the infected. It was clear where the cannon fodder was needed, even to them, and Carl watched absentmindedly as they departed. He was focused more on trying to figure out where his allies had went.

Wrath was cackling like a mad woman. This fight was a never ending thrill ride and the little redhead was nowhere near done. However, Pride had swooped in and stolen the rest of her targets. Puffing out her cheeks in annoyance she looked around for another foe. That is when she noticed a familiar hero. Though the good doctor had lost his hat. Curious to see what he was doing she quietly walked over. No need to be made at the guy when he had paid for his misdeeds their last interaction together. That is when she noticed the horrid, spore spewing blighters. Smiling she stood beside Plague Doctor.

“Need help Bird Boy?”

Without waiting for an answer, she began throwing fireballs at the spore generator.

They had not had many field interactions, but Solomon could already tell he was going to greatly enjoy working with Fleet. The man’s powers offered all kinds of opportunities, both in bolstering his teammate’s abilities, and in his own. This would be falling into the later case, and was what he’d spent a good amount of the given downtime on.

He smiled lightly, feeling the energy of his third large spell rushing through him as nearly five minutes of preparation came to fruition. And, for a moment longer, nothing seemed to happen.

Then the first rock broke through the clouds. It fell from near the top of Fleet’s storm - about half the size of a car, smoldering around the edges - and slammed into the side of Shiro Tower exactly like a large rock dropped from a good height. The second followed close behind, this one moving faster and lit as though doused in gasoline. Soon, large blazing rocks, ranging in size from about a human to a minivan, rained down upon Shiro Tower as vapour at the top of the storm was transmuted into stone and water morphed into fire. The dragon had given them the zombie iteration of the apocalypse, it was only fair to share another.

The huge number of thralls crawling out of the Shiro Tower managed to go around Poppet’s webbing trap that she set for them. As the matter of fact, the thralls seem to somehow know how to maneuver around as if they have foreseen it. Her web only managed to get a small number of them, but the street soon once again crawling with those thralls all over. The dragon must have been able to sense the situation from far away. It might have something to do with that low humming sound that she heard a little while ago coming from one of the big building.

Turning around, Solomon is focusing his attention on the Shiro Tower where the thralls are coming out of, possibly blocking the thralls from swarming out. Because he has that part covered, Poppet turned her attention to the spore generator. Halting the thralls from coming out is quite helpful, but stopping the production of those thralls would also help dealing with the thralls.

“C-Come on Jessica, we need to stop those spores from releasing out in the air.” She said to her doll.

“Alright, let’s plug all those stupid holes together.”

Dancing around her feet, Jessica moved it hand and twirl around like a ballerina. As it does so, the opening of those spore generators suddenly got multiple layers of sticky web-like substance weaving one on top of another. The space between each layers are position similar to how an air filter is made in order to block all size of spore particles coming from it. She only hope that the overwhelming number of thralls is being kept busy on the other end for this to work, since these webbing layers are not strong like the other web that she made.

Dullahan focused his attention on the Shiro Tower. With how so many supers seemed to be converging on it, some close support was probably in order.

The grind of machinery rumbled through the trainyard as Dullahan loaded his next "ammunition." This one was actually a semi-autonomous drone with a full electronics suite on board. It would crash into the building, then its pincers would seek out the building's wiring in order to begin sending and reading signals. Dullahan would be able to use this to hack into the building's security system.

With a series of deep thumps, the drones were launched via cannon on a trajectory to hit the Shiro Tower. Hopefully it wouldn't startle any allies inside too badly.

Sin Eater finally reached the Horizons Building. The corruption seemed to be strongest here, which gave her high hopes for getting to experience an interesting manifestation of the dragon's power.

As she made her way there, she used her power to take any cuts and bruises onto herself, but she was more interested in absorbing the fatigue and hesitation any nearby supers might be feeling. Her fists were clenched, her grin especially wide. She willed the other supers to go faster, to make the dragon show her what else it could do.

Sometimes, it was nice to just relax.

The rain pattered down, its gentle murmuring taking the edge off the sounds of battle, turning the cacophony into something more akin to background ambience. This was accompanied by the twang of a bowstring and the whistling of arrows, the neat, regular sounds of Limen firing away. If she listened carefully, Lust could hear the girl breathing as well.

It made for quite an amusing scene. The heroes ran and jumped and flew and fought and died, and Lust just stood there, watching a cute girl fire a bow, watching the shifting of the muscles in her arms as she drew the string back, watching the rise and fall of her chest as her lungs worked to keep up with the effort, watching the slow, barely noticeable change of expression on her face as Lust's influence slowly tightened its grip on her mind. Such beauty, in all the little things.

The alluring Sin could have stayed by Limen's side for the whole fight, gradually wearing away at her until she was a pawn to Lust's whims, lacking the self-control to possibly refuse or resist her. Tempting. The blue-haired girl, however, had never been one for waiting around, and something in her liked this pet just as she was. The audacity and bravery Limen had displayed were fun in their own right, it would be wasteful to break her so soon.

Lust yawned, letting out an alluring moan, and stretched, reaching out with languid arms and slowly moving them in a circle around her, savoring every small movement of her muscles as she did. Oh, yessss. She wanted to move, now. Wanted to go, and run, and find a warm body and make it hers.

Just one thing to take care of first.

Tiptoeing lightly over to Limen, she brought her lips close to one ear (careful not to get in the way of that fine, fine archery), and let slip a beguiling whisper, making sure that each and every syllable imprinted itself upon the archer's malleable mind. "I like you, sweet. A whole lot, even. You've been fun, so I'll leave you a present. Whenever you want more... come get me."

She left Limen with her bow, and a very clear memory of the sweet voice of desire whispering a phone number in her ear, a promise of things to come.

With that, Lust danced away, swift and graceful as a leaf on a summer breeze. Where to next? There were plenty of supers out there fighting, perhaps she ought to get back into the action again.

However, as she encountered stairs and descended towards ground level, she heard noises, movement. It seemed some of those ugly plant-people had hidden themselves away in here, waiting to be unleashed in a sudden ambush. Heedless, she skipped forwards, smiling and confident. They were far too disgusting to touch, but there was still something human in the thralls- and even the dragon's corruption might not be entirely immune to her powers. If it could think, it could lust for something, and all she needed to do was put herself squarely at the center of that desire, and lure her prey to its doom.

The battle grew more heated as the supers tried to bring their powers to bear against the dragon's weak points while also finding ways to deal with the dragon's various methods for protecting itself. As they struggled, the dragon's power only continued to grow...

Lobisomem's keen senses were able to detect the scent of an especially dense concentration of roots and flowers inside the Horizons Building, hidden inside the twisting and winding passages. This was the dragon's body itself. Passages slammed shut in front of Lobisomem, walls of spikes erupted from wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling, all to stop them from getting close to the dragon's body. But the greater concentration of power the dragon required to defend itself caused its influence on the rest of the battle to wane. The thralls and roots began to slow down again, and the dragon's attempt to bolster the defenses of the Shiro Tower also faded.

Meanwhile, as formidable as the elite thralls were, they couldn't stand against a swarm of Blue Jays. They fell one after the other, and when more came streaming out of Shiro Tower to form a last-resort defensive line, those fell too. Control of the battlefield was returning to the supers.

But the sensory pulses from the Gunstig Center only grew faster and more urgent to compensate for the failure of the dragon's other tactics. The dragon began engaging in a tactical retreat, withdrawing its roots and its thralls, using the information from the Gunstig Center's pulses to minimize the losses it took. The biological machinery producing the pulses was simply too hardy for Arcanum and Unhallow to make much of a dent in it, so most of the dragon's forces were able to fall back to the Horizons Building.

The dragon wasn't entirely focused on falling back, though. As Big Martin coordinated the movements of his army, the dragon had left some thralls behind to surround and converge on him. While he was distracted and his cats were focused elsewhere, they'd close in and eliminate him before the final assault could commence.

But the cat lord would not go down so easily. His minions' senses were able to detect the incoming attack and give him enough warning to escape the closing noose. The thralls gave chase, singlemindedly aiming to put down the especially-high-threat super.

Meanwhile, the dragon had prepared another desperate attack. While Balance was focused on attacking the spore generators, spikes suddenly began bursting out from under her feet with even greater speed than before. They shot out with such force that they even broke free of the surfaces from which they emerged, sending them flying with enough momentum to puncture steel. The ground, walls, and rooftops erupted with projectiles, all aimed to take down Balance.

Although the fight to take down the spore generators was turning in favor of the supers, the dragon's retreat meant that they were doing frustratingly little real damage. Azoth, Envy, Geata, Plague Doctor, Poppet, Sanduleak, and Wrath were able to chase the generators back to the dragon's main body. The helicopter brought in by L.O.V.E. dispersed the spores hanging over the area, but not before Unhallow was caught in a particularly thick retaliatory burst.

The Shiro Tower erupted in chaos as the civilians Nemesis released with her power immediately took the opportunity to flee. Some were showing early signs of transformation, but it seemed that most of them had been outdoors or in unaffected buildings before seeking shelter from the attack, and so the dragon hadn't had time to do much to them. They remained sane enough to flee, leaving the Shiro Tower and the battlefield.

The chaos disrupted the attack on the Shiro Tower, but only temporarily. With so many supers concentrating their powers on the building, it was only a matter of time before it came under their control. The elite thralls who remained within couldn't effectively defend the tower against everyone, and the supers fighting in the lower portions of the tower were able to confirm the presence of a tunnel leading in the direction of the Horizons building. Aurora, Giza, Limen, Nemesis, Phenomenon, Rainfall, Solomon, and Toko were all in a good position to flank the dragon's main body from an unexpected direction under cover of Dullahan's control of the building's security system.

Elsewhere, the fight continued. Fleet, Lust, and Pride engaged the remaining thralls, taking some heat off Big Martin even if the densely-packed thralls made a poor environment for Pride to show off his speed. Ophiuchus and Zenith crashed through the smaller buildings, eliminating assets the dragon had sunk its influence into. Gluttony, Hivemind, and Titan slowly dismantled the Gunstig Center, ensuring that the dragon's sensory pulses wouldn't be able to last forever. Hooded Siren's power helped subdue the last of the elite thralls defending the Shiro Tower.

But the climax of the fight was building up at the Horizons Building. While Lobisomem's senses led to the dragon's main body, Anonymous's power was forcing the dragon to devote more and more of its attention toward defending itself mentally and physically. Seraphim was still able to snipe some of the thralls that had fallen back to defend the building, and although the dragon's power fortified the building against Bloodbath's attempts, it wouldn't be able to last forever. Sin Eater's power bolstered the attackers and let them fight fearlessly.

The dragon had been driven into a corner. It had used every resource available to it and had been pushed to the point that its main body was under siege. Only the final assault remained.

Phenomenon kept himself parked, but looked over to the Horizons Building. The battle seemed to be leading there, as it was the dragon's last apparent vestige of hope. Implying that that was where the dragon itself was. It was out of his focus, he would have to find it based off of another super's location, as they would be easier to follow mentally. For now, he just kicked back and the radio glowed pink as he attempted to turn it up. Alas, much to his disdain there was simply no higher for it to go. At first, he intended on just relaxing, use of his leisure time during the dragon fight, but now he was slightly mad. As such he turned his mind briefly to the thralls closest to him to try and sever the connection they had to the dragon.

Lobisomem whipped their head toward the scent, fangs clicking together unconsciously as they started to advance into Horizons building. They leaned away as spikes rose to meet them, curling their lips as they attempted to find a a way through.

It was here, the dragon was definitely here!

They raised their head, mouth twitching as they opened it as wide as possible, "It's here!" They roared, "That motherfucker is here!" As soon as they words were said, they lowered their head and shoulders and charged.

The walls held up well but soon enough, they were through! They ignored the pain that burned their paws as they tread on several spikes.

Lobisomem could almost see the scent and they followed it doggingly, eager to tear this thing up by the roots!
