As the supers closed in to deal the finishing blow, the dragon wagered everything on one last trick. Its remaining reanimated thralls swarmed as one towards Carl's position. They exploded in such great number that they produced an unavoidable wall of flying thorns. The thorns had a disrupting effect on superpowers, and with that, the army of cats and Blue Jay clones was gone.
Without their backup, the supers were left momentarily vulnerable, and the dragon chose that moment to strike with everything it had.
As the dragon had shored up its defenses, it had also been seeping its spores back into the ground to build its influence. It called upon that influence all at once, splitting buildings and earth alike into enormous fissures that attempted to catch supers inside before impaling them with walls of spikes. The area around Blue Jay was especially hazardous, as the dragon chased him around with spreading, gaping death pits.
The creation blossom was producing a nonstop flood of spore-creatures which immediately took to the air and began attacking those who were trying to attack the dragon, ramming into them and passing through them before reforming themselves on the other side. Plague Doctor, due to his relentless assault against the original blossom, was the primary target. The spore-creatures pummeled him mercilessly.
The disruption blossom, similarly, was spewing out a constant, thick, directionless cloud of spores. Some of those spores settled into Dullahan's damaged drones. By the same mechanism which had spread the dragon's influence into Azoth's mind, the dragon began to seep through the radio connection from Dullahan's drones into his command center.
The highest blossom had ceased its attempts to reach other cities with its spores. Instead, it was pouring them down the sides of the building in waves, causing so many spikes to erupt from every nearby surface that there was hardly a safe place to stand. Pride was left with nowhere to go as the spikes closed in on him.
And the last of the thralls went even more wild, throwing themselves headlong as the closest supers they could see. Aurora's power was well-suited to making a bubble of safety for herself and others, but no one was completely protected from the thralls' final attack.
It was impossible to say who struck the final blow. The dragon died by bits and pieces. One by one, the lights inside each blossom flickered out. The mind readers sensed a bittersweet longing from the dragon as its consciousness faded.
Then, the dragon's colors began to fade. From the inside out, its vines and flowers transmuted themselves to brittle white stone. The spores, too, were affected by the transformation, which gave the entire downtown area the appearance of being coated in snow.
The rain quickly began to wash the dust away. The dragon's vines, frozen in twisted shapes as they reached upward and outward from the building, began to crumble and fall to the city below. Finally, as the dragon's reinforcements to the building's foundation crumbled, the sideways tilt that the stronger supers had imparted on the building caused it to collapse. Some supers had to hurry out of the way to avoid getting caught in the cloud of debris.
The dragon was dead. The city's supers found their bodies and minds beginning to return to normal. But the injuries dealt by the dragon would remain, both to the city's supers and to the city itself. This attack was not one that could be swept under the rug. Emerald City would never be the same.

If the dragon had attacked a month sooner, its attempted corruption against Dullahan might have consumed him. But Dullahan had learned from his battle against Nemesis, and he had adapted. The system controlling his drones had been carefully separated from his brain and other conscious processes.
When the dragon's influence began to leak through the connection, Dullahan triggered his backup plan. The servers running his drone processes were stored in the trainyard, right next to his artillery ammunition cache. With a simple mental command, he detonated every last shell in his supply.
The explosion was visible from all the way across the city. Dullahan's brain was stored safely in the slums, and he watched the spectacle without much concern. From there, he could see the Horizons Building finally come toppling down. Good riddance.
It was a shame to lose the stuff he had built in the trainyard, but on further reflection, Dullahan wasn't really bothered by it. It would make a fine excuse to create a better weapon next time.

"That's not what I said. The people under me are--" Aurora rubbed her forehead. "Forget it. This is why you're not a leader and shouldn't be one. Hurry up and kill that damn thing."
Normally she would have explained everything she was talking about in full detail, but that was difficult to do in a fight like this. It was especially difficult given what she was trying to do. Aurora normally moved all her particles together, only having large swaths of them do something else to make cool patterns. This was seriously testing her ability to micromanage these things. The arm moved in strange ways, and she had to move her aurora very specifically in order to try to counter its movement. Further, her aurora had to maintain some kind of basic structure because the particles couldn't separate from the rest of the aurora, or form a second aurora. If she messed up the structure of the aurora it would refuse to move correctly. It was coutnerattacking too, so much of her attention had to move towards the spores that were directly coming for her. It made it impossible to fully counteract anything the creation blossom was doing.
To make matters worse, there were thralls coming up the side of the building. It took a little while for Aurora to notice because of how focused she was on her aurora. It wasn't until she heard them climbing that she looked down and was able to see right into their faces nice and close up, closer than any other time in this fight. She jumped backwards and yelped in surprise as those things kept getting closer. As much as she didn't want to destroy the city more than she needed to, this whole area was already a mess. A little more damage wouldn't hurt anything all things considered. She started taking out the walls by where they were climbing, trying to keep her eyes off the creatures as much as possible. For good measure, her aurora stopped going after the creation blossom and started going after their hands and feet to get them to let go. Between that and a few gunshots from elsewhere, they all started to fall, only leaving her with having to deal with what felt like a minor heart attack when she saw them.
Once she was able to look up at the dragon, its colors had already started to fade. Aurora watched the creature suspiciously as it gradually turned white, not sure what to expect next. Nothing came. It started to crumble and she relaxed, breathing a sigh of relief that it was finally done. The spores all over her lost their color and started running off her coat in the rain. Her moment of relaxation didn't last long as she realized what would inevitably happen if that building started falling apart. Sure enough, rubble was going to fall all over the battlefield, threatening to crush everyone under it. She wouldn't allow that to happen. Fortunately, this was something she tested extensively. Her powers worked on dead things, even things that recently died, and there was no upper limit to the amount of things she could grab that she could find. Stopping all of that from reaching the ground wouldn't be a problem. Color returned to the dragon as she started converting it into particles. Large rainbows erupted from the falling debris as she sent her aurora into the sky. The gray of the sky didn't suit this event right now. They won.
Aurora dropped a burner phone from her aurora. Even though pretty much everything of Dullahan's exploded, she wasn't the least bit concerned for his well being. There was no way he was going to leave his brain vulnerable to something like that. She quickly dialed the number she used to contact him. There were enough people here that needed help that she was going to need some help getting to them all, and her own first aid skills were only okay. Dullahan was the best person to deal with this.
"Dullahan! I need a large vehicle down to pick up the wounded as quickly as possible. Send something that doesn't shake too much, some of them are in pretty bad shape. Bring what you need to prevent them from dying, then take them to the front warehouse by the dock area."
Aurora hung up without waiting for a response. She let her aurora hang in the sky a little bit longer before calling it to her feet so she could get back to the ground. Even if she wasn't entirely satisfied with her performance in the fight, it was important to focus on what she could do now, and there were still people that needed her help.

“You ok?”
“That’s ‘are you ok SIR’ Brooklyn!” Agent Delaware snapped back at Agent Brooklyn.
“Both of you- shut up and climb.” The Good Shepherd almost growled. It had been a LONG day and dangling 20 feet down in a fissure- clinging to whatever handholds they could get. Brooklyn was hooked onto an exposed pipe that caught the back of his flak-vest. That boy was damn lucky.
Delaware was gripping onto a series of roots and Shepherd was on a collapsed I-beam about 10 meters above the other two.
They were bruised, beaten, had a few broken bones, and hand probably blown L.O.V.E’s quarterly budget in a single mission but they were somehow, miraculously, alive. Maybe they did have a super power- being stubborn enough not to die despite the rest of the world telling them that they should have.
Shepherd began the arduous task of excavating himself and his team out of the fissure.
“Ok ok... so not dead. That’s a plus.” Brooklyn chided as Delaware and the Shepherd both offering the larger African American man a hand and lifting him up over the edge a few minutes later.
“It was less that a spotless run- but... I’ll agree with Brooklyn. We did acceptable.” Delaware reported sheepishly- never wanting to admit Brooklyn was right. Today was special however- they’d done the impossible and managed to keep pace with the supers in their own weird way.
“Agreed. Well done team. However,” He said, pausing and lighting a cigar, clenching it between his teeth, “the hard word is only just starting. We’ll need to get on containment and cleansing procedures, get debriefed, and...”
The Shepherd trailed off. His two battered teammates were looking sullen, though they wouldn’t ever admit it.
“And... that can wait. First we are going to get an evac, some steaks, a bottle of something hard, a trip to the medic, a Hollywood shower, and maybe even some shut-eye before that happens.”
His two junior L.O.V.E agents smiled, beaming despite the pain they were in. He sighed, removing the fat stogie from between his lips and exhaling a thick plume of smoke that mixed and mingled with the spores in the air. He took the sight in. The destruction was unreal. He took another puff, passed it off to Brooklyn, and pressed his finger against his ear.
“Rein- target is down. I repeat- target is down. Decontamination en route. Containment procedures in effect. Evac when possible. Excellent jobs out there today.” He reported with a terse, but not unkind voice. He wasn’t in charge of Rein- but he was the announcer, giving the higher ups a heads up on what went down.
Delaware was now examining the cigar Brooklyn was trying to force of her and she was holding her hands up defensively- trying to reject it.
“Damn... I use to L.O.V.E the way the skyline looks. We’ll just have to build it better next time...”

She was kidding herself when she thought it wouldn’t hurt. Still wouldn’t be as bad as whatever it felt like to let those vince, prefaced by the blightening of her skin, reach her chest, she told herself. Her heart would probably appreciate giving that one a pass. It would be worth it, she thought, if it meant she got to live another day. She braced herself, thanking Giza for reacting swiftly despite any kind of warning, and trusting him to make it quick. The blade rose, she forced herself not to shake, or run, like her body really wanted to do, and the edge sliced through like it was nothing. It was the single most painful thing Rook had ever experienced. The yell of pain came out through tightly clenched teeth, even as she tried to suppress it. Nor could she keep back the tears, which rolled large down her right cheek. The release caused her body more collapsed than relaxed, and in reaching for her bag, hoping to find bandages to finish the job that needed to be finished, she found both her arm and balance to fail. She caught herself on her knees, her breaths deep but staggered. Goddamn dragon. Well, she’d gone given her arm for Emerald City. No way in hell she could leave now. The pain was simply too much. The rain began to fall, washing away the quiet remains of the dragon’s bearings away, and Limen slumped, unconscious, to the ground. --- Limen's arm lay a short distance away. With the dragon's death, the infliction had stopped spreading, black turning to an ashen white, and vines to stone. The dragon had been slain quickly enough that it was unlikely to have killed her, but the arm alreasy caught was ruined. Not much that could be done about stome flesh with hunks of complementary rock sticking out of it. Several smaller items had followed from her backpack when she pulled out the computer cord - a few medicine bottles, a pen - but the most ad rem was the a note, written nicely on stiff paper, left by gravity at the foot of her bag. The ink was starting to run softly in the rain. “If I am unconscious, delirious (more so than usual - use your better judgement), or otherwise unable to make reasonable requests and my life requires medical assistance, please take me to Dullahan. Tell him to do whatever he needs to, but leave as much of the fleshy bits as he can. Also tell him to add a muffin button.
-Limen from the past”

"It's dead, It's finally dead" Hivemind concluded. After all they went through, it was worth it. The dragon was finally destroyed and Emerald City was safe, for now. This was Hive's first major event that occurred in the city, especially since it was a dragon. The destruction of the city shocked Hivemind. "Wow, I knew dragons were powerful, but I didn't think this powerful..", thought Hive as he started to walk the decrepit streets of Emerald City. There was something that Hive forgot to do, but he couldn't remember at the time.
While looking at the destroyed buildings and structures, he finally remembered what it was. "How can I be so stupid?!?! I forgot to look for surviviors!!" Suddenly, Hivemind instantly began sprinting down the road, checking alleyways, and began to search buildings. He found a few survivors of this dastardly attack. It was a mother and her child. "You need to get out of here!! Follow me!" He safely got them out of the building and continued searching. All along the roads were flipped and destroyed cars. Like a kind-hearted person would do, Hive began searching the cars for any survivors. There were no survivors found in the cars that he searched. "They must have all gotten out before any serious damage was done." Out of the corner of his eye he saw it, a flipped car covered in ropes and the dragon's spikes. Without thinking first, Hivemind ran towards the car and looked into it. The thing he saw in the car surprised Hive.
Sitting with his legs crossed and wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, was the super named Phenomenon. From first look, it seems like he's waiting for someone or something, but he was actually stuck. "Hey, are you okay?" The super rotated his head to face Hivemind. Noticing the blood-stained mask on the supers face, Hivemind knew he had to help him. "Okay, how can I get you out?" Hive thought. It seemed like a simple task, and after a few seconds, it was clear to him. Summoning thousands of flying ants, Hivemind commanded them to form into two giant insect fists, and started to flip the car back over. While flipping the car, he noticed that Phenomenon was freaking out, but instantly calmed down. "Maybe he's afraid of bugs" Hive concluded.
The plan to flip the car worked and Phenomenon was freed. Hivemind felt like he just saved his life, but another super would have probably noticed him while searching for survivors. He felt like he made a friend today, even if they are in different factions, doesn't mean that they can't work together. In situations, sure, they would have to fight, but Phenomenon would be grateful of Hivemind for saving his life. Hive didn't need the praise from Phenomenon, but it would've shown if Phenomenon really appreciated the act of being saved.
Walking with Phenomenon to get him patched up, Hive remembered something. "It's finally over...Maybe this will change how we all treat each other from now on.." Hivemind could only hope. The day was coming to an end, and the city was saved. There will be pain, but time heals all wounds, and Emerald City has suffered the greatest wound of all.

Phenomenon thought he would be fine for at least a couple moments more, thank you very much. And it was only natural to suddenly have your fortress of solitude suddenly be moved and gravity changed. Not even going so far as to mention the fact that there were actual ants lifting his car. So there was a bit of flailing, a garbled grumble, and some unhappy feelings but he was grateful. Detecting the same brain patterns in the ants as he did in a nearby super, he sent a small stream of thought to him. "Thank you. Get a hold of me if you need a favor, I owe you one for saving my truck. Just make yourself apparent, I'll be keeping an eye out for you." The truck wasn't damaged very badly, mostly just dented and banged up. It was still fully functional, as he proved when he started up the car and abruptly accelerated down the road. It still had more than enough horsepower to deal with what stone it may encounter.

Ophiuchus let out a sigh of relief as Plant Cthulhu was finally taken down. However, his relief was short-lived as the dragon's vines that were holding the building up turned into white rock and began to give way. The snake-man scrambled down the collapsing structure as fast as possible, jumping clear as the building collapsed in a pile of white dust. Thankfully, Ophiuchus and his snakes were not injured by the jump from the building and after making sure they were coiled around his body and glancing back at the other supers before taking his leave.

By the time that Anonymous finally made it to the dragon’s brain area, it was already too late. The flower inside the building started to wither away into a grayish white color, and the spores that it emitted stop and turn to white. Since the spores started to turn white, Anonymous looked at the vial that he got the spores inside and see they started to change color as well.
“Ah man, I was hoping I can learn more from you.”
Even though the spores have turned white, Anonymous kept the sample just in case he can still get something out of examining it in the lab. He didn’t have much time to think of a way to do so as soon as he felt the building around him started to rumble. Since the dragon is dead, the building is no longer has anything to hold it up any longer. The other supers might have deal enough damage to the building that it will collapse soon. The flower before him started to crumble away, so there’s no point going for a sample any longer; Anonymous quickly went back to the way he came and exit the building just in time for the Horizons Building crumble into ruin.
“Well, so much for getting a better insight on this dragon’s thought, but at least there’s no need to worry about the spore again.”
He looked at the sky; the spores that remain up in the air started to fall like snow, covering the whole downtown area in a thick white coat of unmeltable snow. If he didn’t paid attention to the devastation that the dragon left behind, this place looks almost gave off a hint of a winter fairy tale.
“This is the second time that the dragon’s thought have something cryptic again. This mystery is getting quite intriguing to solve.”

He did it; Balance’s blade flew straight into the flower on the side of the building, pierce right through it like a butter knife. Giza can kinda hear the rumbling sound of pain that the dragon made, and soon enough he saw what become of the creature. Its roots started to lose its color, and the building that it was holding on began to crack open like a chestnut. The flame that consumed the blade has started to burn away the flower that it pierce through, turning it into ashes before his very eyes.
Soon enough, he can feel the dragon’s influent to his power began to fade, and the multiple color spores around him started to turn white, losing its power over everything it landed on.
“Tch,” he clicked his tongue; if he know that the spores lose their infected influence once the dragon is dead, he wouldn’t have threw the blade at Limen and cut off her left arm. Guess cutting off that arm is now proven to be for nothing.
Gaining control back on his feet, Giza slowly made his way toward where Limen is laying on the ground, unconscious from the shock of the pain. Her left arm is close by, and her backpack spilled its content all over the street. He noticed the small note falling out, giving him some idea of what he needs to do. Before long, Giza can hear the sound of Dullahan’s vehicle coming his way. Picking up her left arm and carried her over his shoulder, Giza signaled Dullahan to approach for the wounded Limen. Hope the guy knew how to reattach an arm back, or at least have something to replace her hand with.
Even though he can still feel the intense pain all over his body, Giza doesn’t hop on Dullahan’s ambulance just yet. He still needs to go find both Balance and Big Martin’s bodies; the two of them need a proper burial for their sacrifice in this dragon attack. Not to mention he need to get Balance’s sword back; it has avenged its master’s killer, he’ll let other people decided on what they should do with it.
Besides, now that his power returned to the way it was, it can help him slowly heal his injuries in order for him to continue his search. Even though the downtown area, the Bulwark’s territory, is under such heavy damage, he’s still feels bad seeing such devastation all around him. Cleaning up this mess is going to be such a pain.

Geata lurched forward, the blade of his new sword dragging behind him, as his vision started to fade. He tried to blink away the creeping darkness, but to no avail. He wasn't really able think straight, and his legs were threatening to give out underneath him. He knew before it happened that he'd pass out, and he knew that he wouldn't be the one to kill the thing making his friends sad. But emotions were hard at the best of times, and he was most definitely not at his best. If he felt anything about those facts, he certainly couldn't think of the words to describe.
Suddenly, he could feel the tower start to shift underneath and around him. He was used to gravity suddenly changing the direction it was pulling him in, enough so that he could usually adjust. Unfortunately, he also realized that he had chosen that as the best time to take a nap. A nap sounded nice, and so did food, but he needed to wait a few seconds. He needed to get somewhere safe so he could nap in peace. He smiled slightly as he thought of something, but, with effort, forced himself to concentrate on the task at hand. As the portal opened beneath him, though, adjusted for the new pull of gravity, he passed out and started to lean forward more, just barely clearing the edge of the portal.
Geata dropped onto the rooftop where he had left Azoth with a small thud. He landed feet first, his legs crumpling under the dead weight of his body. Upon landing, Geata didn't stir. He was thoroughly asleep, the kind of sleep that threatens permanence. He had pushed himself far beyond what he thought himself capable of, and likely wouldn't remain awake for long if his rest was disturbed. And, to his later surprise, he was dreaming.
In spite of the horrors, tragedy, and exhaustion of the fight, Geata's dream was a happy one, a continuation of his last waking thoughts. He was relaxed and at peace, his face tranquil. The only indication that he was dreaming at all was a single word, hummed quietly and warmly from behind his ever-grinning mask.
"Azoth."

Hope stands behind the now broken window of the storefront; remaining inside the building. Looking up in awe of the dragon that had been destroyed mere moments after he'd arrived. As the white debris falls gracefully from the buildings like snow in winter, he gasped slowly and quietly, taking a second to take it all in. "Holy sh-...". For a brief moment, Hope forgets why he is there, his missives, his intentions, and even where he is.
Shaking himself back to seeming consciousness, he looks around, as the white carrion of the dragon glides down into the streets below, he opens his jacket, re-holstering the Beretta 93R at his chest; after reloading of course. Zipping his jacket back up and making a futile attempt to dust himself off, he jumps over the counter, feet narrowly missing the cash register. He places a finger to his earpiece, speaking with the rest of the Rein personnel. "Forlorn Hope reporting in. Probably best if we all do. Sector seems secure... No vis-con.".
He ducks down behind the counter, pulling his hood up once more to help conceal his face, and takes a deep breath in, rather quickly. Just like that, he activates his power, slipping away from the scene into the back of the storefront, not to be seen again; at least for a short period of time.

Tricky left. It was quick and simple, just him racing out of the building and out of the affected area, back toward Malachite Isle where he'd been beforehand, and disappearing somewhere on the Isle. It was a bit of a tough battle, but luckily he came out of it mostly unscathed. And he had obtained some precious cargo, those parts of the dragon could be greatly useful to him. Though he may not seem it, Tricky's intellect is quite massive. No one was going to find him, of that he was mostly sure, and when he had a few free moments he would gladly begin some experimenting with his new subjects. Even if they had turned brittle and dead, there was likely something to be gleaned out of it. As it stood, the Jester was tired and his suit was as well. Time to go for a rest.

Well, this seemed to be over. Mass quickly surveyed the damage, taking note of what had been destroyed and who had been killed. This attack had a bad effect on the city, but it could be used to get more supplies, either for the keepers or for himself. He would begin walking away from the center of the destruction, going to one of the more... whole skyscrapers to pick his next target. This was no excuse to lose any efficiancy, or to miss an opportunity.
