Rex held an empty can, supposing he shouldn't be too crushed. Like the can. That he had crushed. While Kasty was talking. "Oh! That's great!" He said. "I'm really happy for you t" Rex was interrupted as the demon Samantha, who had been heretofore sealed away by the ancients within a soul jar of blankets, chip bags, and a hoodie, burst forth from her confines and stomped right past her.
"Hi, Sam." Rex said. God, it was like...A girl version of him. A little less neat (He kept his quarters completely pristine at all times), but equally as NEET. He perched on the couch, looking at the game, and occasionally stealing furtive glances at her. "It's nice to meet you. Um." He struggled for something to say. "That was a nice fort you had there." He said.

Samantha's eyes flitted around as the people here generally greeted her...nicely? She had been stiff, looking like she was ready for a fight, but relaxed at their greetings.
She stole a look at the various people around her, some of them felt familiar...scratch that, some even smelled familiar! She dispelled these thoughts with a shake of the head, but still had to struggle to not glance at the women and Kasty, who felt the most familiar.
The drinks were the next target of her scrutiny, she looked on the verge of taking one, until it hit her what they were. Beer. She was barely old enough to get a car, much less drink! Not to mention it smells like fire.
Kasty's questions seemed to come as a bit of a surprise, she took the time Tristan was answering to think of an answer. "Um...It's a good place...it's big and I'm...fine...I'm good here." Immediately, the took a controller as if to distract from the sheer awkwardness of her response.
No She thought, I'm not fine. I miss home...miss everything. I ran here cause a friend is here, but I still don't know where they are, and I don't want to leave here.
A flicker of a smile hovered on her face as she chose Charizard, changing him from orange to black. A dragon character might be in bad taste considering recent events, but she didn't care to be nice, she wanted to win.
She paused for a second as the other guy, chugging the beer like it was the end of the world, commented on her "fort". What was that supposed to mean? She had encountered plenty of people at school who'd make a passive-aggressive comment towards her, they usually got a black eye from her.
She may have stared at little too long before she seemed to decide it wasn't an insult, "Thanks...wasn't planning on coming here." Words exchanged, she leaned back, waiting for the game to start.

Kasty shrugged at Minnie. “I was kinda expecting it. You can’t do anything here with at least two other people deciding to ‘help out’ with it.” That’s why he’d brought so many bowls and all eight of his controllers down. “But now I’m curious; how do the two of you know each other?” He knew Minne was older than him, and Grant was still in highschool, wasn’t he? He couldn’t imagine Grant had a job that would make him meet Minnie (though the thought of Grant working brought up images of the very large guy standing behind a checkout counter, putting little packets of pudding in paper bags for old ladies and body slamming people who tried to shoplift).
Kasty couldn’t quite understand Rex’s sudden change in mood, but he gave him a smile anyway. “Thanks. You joining in?” He asked, gesturing to the remaining controllers with his head.
To Sam and Tristan, he said, “Let me know if you need help carrying any furniture in or anything.” His smile became sly. “Or if you want to know where all the hiding places in the house are.” He knew exactly all of the little nooks that he was aware of in this house, as well as a window that lead directly up onto the roof.
On the game’s character selection menu, Kasty chose Doctor Mario, as he always did. He wasn’t quite sure what’d drawn him to the lab coated plummer, but since he’d begun his occasional playings of the game, the character had come to grow on him. Plus he thought it was funny to hurt his foes with little pills. By his auto settings, upon pressing start, the game would pick a random stage to drop them all on.
And then his button mashing for victory could begin.

Minnie laughed and nodded in agreement with Kasty's statement. It was one of the great things about living here. There was always help around, whether it was wanted or not. She sat down next to Grant before grabbing a controller. Granted she wasn't good at video games but they were definitely a fun way to pass the time. She flipped through characters before finally deciding on Zero Suit Samus in the orange outfit. She was probably going to be the first one dead but she wasn't going down without a fight. Then again, wasn't how most of her life seemed to go? Out of the corner of her eyes she examined Rex again. His mood shift was interesting. It was almost as if.... She looked between him and Kasty, eyes shifting between them. She raised an eyebrow when they landed on Rex again. Was he interested in Kasty? The thought was lost as she heard said boy's question.
"We met at the docks one night awhile back," Minnie answered as she kept her eyes on the screen. "I'm really not sure how long ago that was. Any ideas Grant?"

Grant sat where he was, intently staring at the screen as the game took place. While Kasty, Minnie, Tristan and Samantha (or Sam) took the controllers and started the match, Grant and Rex were left to spectate what he expected to be a thrilling contest that didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. He didn't know about Rex, but Grant was relieved he was left out of it, he'd probably just embarrass himself in front of his friends (and newfound acquaintances) by trying to compete with them in something that he had practically zero experience in. Though some of the characters did look a little bit interesting, but not enough to convince Grant to eventually join.
Kasty then brought up the circumstances behind his meeting with Minnie, putting them both on the spot. Well, maybe just Grant, since Minnie answered immediately with the truth. At least the truth with the noteworthy details left out. Trying to be as calm as Minnie was, Grant answered his part of the question, "A couple of months ago, I guess"

Tristan smiled warmly at Kasty's offer of help moving things in, even if he didn't exactly feel warm at thought of his previous possessions. "Thanks man, I appreciate the thought," he said. "Sadly, recent events have left me without stuff to move in." He shrugged before turning to Sam. "Of course, this just means I'm more available to lend a hand, should you need it."
As for secret nooks and crannies, Tristan had his doubts that he wouldn't be able to find them on his own. Except for rare occurrences like what he was doing now, he had an uncanny knack for being able hide away from dealing with people. Still, just knowing they existed was interesting news, and having someone else show him where they are would certainly make things easier. "Heck yeah I'd like to know of hiding spots," he grinned as he attempted to keep the mood fairly light. "I might not actually use them, but it never hurts to know, am I right?"
He couldn't help but grin at the other people's choice of characters. He hadn't played in a while but he still knew he had a great chance at winning, depending on the stage. It bothered him that not everyone had picked characters, though. He took a quick look around and realized that Grant and the shirtless guy were the ones who had decided not to play. While Tristan didn't know or care about the shirtless dude and if he played, he certainly wasn't about to let Grant sit out on the fun without saying something first.
"Hey, man," he said, head slightly tilted. "What's up, Grant? You aren't playing? It's lots of fun playing this with friends, you know. You don't have to worry if you're not good at it, it's not like I'm going to be losing anyway." He chuckled a little at that, but only because he knew the confidence was a bit out of character for him. It wasn't like it wasn't true.

"N-no thanks." Rex said to Kasty, perched on the arm of the couch. He never really liked fighting games, lacking the patience for them.
"I can help, if you want." He said to Sam. He looked like he'd be good at it. He wasn't gigantic, like Grant, but he was in very good shape. He seemed completely oblivious to Minerva staring at him. He was too busy wallowing in despair.
"If you wanna be my lover, gotta get with my frien"
Rex got up, digging his phone out of his pocket. "Sorry, I gotta take this." He said, after glancing at caller ID. He headed out. "No, it takes three seconds after pulling the pin." He said, heading out of the house. "No, it's not my fault he lost his arm, and..." His voice faded away, as Rex headed for his van.
((Ah, I'm very sorry, but I have to leave for a while. Sorry!))

Samantha shook her head, pointing to Tristan, "What he said, don't got anything to move in." The only things she had brought were multiple changes of clothing, although that was mostly to bring her trademark hoodie. The hiding places mention obviously interested her, as she gave a crooked smile, eyes flicking excitedly. She didn't agree with the offer, but she looked like she was going to search anyway.
She ignored most of the conversation around her, she knew something between a few of them was happening, but didn't care to listen in on it.
She tuned back in as the shirtless guy started to leave, pushing up off the couch back to give a brief wave before falling back into the cloud-like cushion.
She had started up a tapping, rapping her foot against the couch until it started.

Kasty was hit with a flash of embarrassment as he remembered that recent events had left a good number of people without stuff to move. It had been the reason for the sudden influx of residents and was a touchy subject for just about everyone. He hoped he hadn’t stepped on either of their toes.
The same could be said of the reaction he got out of Grant with his question. Perhaps, he thought as the round began, dropping their four characters down on some meadowy platforms, he should change the subject.
It was Tristan’s point that Grant wasn’t playing that gave him an idea. The 3, 2, 1, Go had already flashed up on the screen. The fight was on - but he suddenly and conveniently remembered that there were more snacks in the kitchen. Kasty stood.
“I’m going to go see if there’s any chips in the kitchen. Grant, cover me. Counting on you.” He didn’t wait for a ‘no’ before he shoved the controller into Grant’s hand and jumped over the back of the couch. He was grinning as he trotted away for the kitchen.

Minnie looked over at Tristan and Sam as they both said they didn't jave anything to move in with. With recent events, it wasn't too big of a surprise. Still it hurt her heart to hear about her house mates having little more then the clothes on their back. She was one of the better off house mates so she wanted to help out when she could.
"Tristan, Sam, if there is anything important you two need I can pick something up for you. I have a little extra cash so don't worry about the money part."
It didn't surprise her when Kasty suddenly dropped out of the game. Grant needed a little more socializing and sometimes a shove helped more than a gentle nudge. Thought the teen's excuse was a little pathetic. The pinkette scootched closer to him as she began pressing buttons. She wasn't the best brawler herself but every one started somewhere, right? Glancing over at Grant she spoke up once again.
"If it makes it easier on you, sometimes mashing buttons chaotically does work. It's the only way I've ever won this."
She flinched as one of the other players knocked her off the screen. Whelp, there goes one life. Gotta make the next few count.

Shane stood in front of the door awkwardly shifting from one sore leg to the other. God why the heck was he debating right now? He had walked for christ sake and it certainly showed if his tired and now his amplified annoyed expression was anything to go by. Not like he could have the usual chauffeur treatment, wanted to be kinda low key if he was about to do what he thought he was. Raising a hand with a knuckle almost against the door, he pulled his hand to rub the back of his head frustration, GAH WHY WAS THIS SO HARD! Hell he practically had an invitation from one of them...he thought/hoped...and that invitation wasn't for him per se but that wasn't the point. This was getting him nowhere, if he stayed outside this building any longer either someone was going to open the door and walk into him or some passerby's gonna call the cops on him. And lord knows that was not a bucket of drama he was dealing with this instant. Steeling his nerves, and adjusting the sunglasses that were thankfully keeping a pounding headache from happening thanks to the bright day, he brought a shaky fist up to the door and rapped it three times...before letting some frustration take over and hit it rougher three more times. He would not be patient. Oh shit what the hell was he even going to say to them, ugh this was going to be a freaking train wreck. Well if that's how it'll be, he'd at least make sure he had control of the train before crashing it into something. And if this is goes wrong well he'd have a few choice words with a certain tall hero. The thought of getting revenge actually helped him relax some, but didn't completely stop his leg from bouncing up and down. Oh god if he didn't sit down soon he was just going to throw up or pass out against this door...probably both.

Grant was completely taken aback when Kasty just shoved the controller onto him. If Grant didn't know any better, he'd suspect that Kasty had some sort of evil plan. But there was no time to protest, since Kasty had (in)conveniently left him just as the match began. He had no idea how any of this worked, and the only useful knowledge he had was that he was playing that short, big nosed man in the lab coat. While Minnie offered some advice, it was hardly much help, and Grant was thrown right into the match, trying to press all the buttons to see which did what. Eventually, he settled on using a single button which he thought would work.
All of a sudden, in the middle of the match, there was respite from this hell. There was a knock on the door. Seizing the opportunity, Grant dropped the controller like it was on fire before rushing off to answer the door. As he opened it, he saw a lanky pole of skin and bone standing in front of him. Now who could this be?

Tristan grinned as Kasty gave Grant the controller. It was pretty obvious the big guy didn't know what he was doing, but Tristan was doing his best to give him space to learn. He didn't want to win too easily, after all, and so far the only one giving him trouble was Sam. Not too much, but enough to make regret picking a heavy hitter character. It was a good thing he knew how to use the items effectivity.
When the doorbell rang, Grant immediately jumped at the chance to answer it, much to Tristan's disappointment. Still, curiosity won out over mild irritation and led the smaller teen to go and try to see who it was. That was no easy task, given Grant and his gargantuan physique, but when Tristan finally succeeded...
He realized he had absolutely no idea who the person was, unsurprisingly. He didn't even know what else he was expecting, honestly. Oh well.

Samantha nodded seriously at the women's offer, even as she decided to herself she wouldn't leech off of somebody else like this. What would she even ask for?
Keep the offer in mind...it's only the smart thing to do...
She barely went after the poor big guy, unless he entered her flamethrower, then it was every man for themselves. Her face was completely made of stone as she played, the only indication of her feelings being how quickly her eyes blinked.
She allowed herself distraction as a knock rang out, peering over her shoulder while still hammering buttons. A new guy...and he looked mad. Instinctively, she tensed up, what was he doing here?

Raid of the kitchen cupboards was a success. Kasty was making his way back to the commons, arms full of various chip bags, when Kasty looked over Grant’s shoulder through the doorway. He liked to think he knew at least the face of everyone in the boarding house, but he’d never seen this guy before. He was also alone, nervous, and no one else seemed to immediately recognize him either.
Recent events had given him a standard response to new people. “You here to talk about residence?” He assumed. “Aunt Nora’s in her room down that hall. The fancy door on the left.” Having stopped upon seeing the new guy, he continued the short walk back to the common room. “Or you could come join us for smash in here,” he offered.
