“So I’ve got half a dozen decks of cards, a couple of card games, monopoly somewhere, I think… Oh, and a wii u with smash bros and netflix.” Kasty said, setting the paper bag full of ice cream cartons down on one of the main room’s large tables. “Any of those sound good?” He asked Grant. While not the first time he’d brought a guest to the large boarding house on the edge of the suburbs, it was the first time he’d actually invited someone over. Kasty was in dire need of relaxation - and ice cream - and Grant was the best (and only) person he could think of to do so with, and thus had invited him to come hang out at the house. “Sorry, I don’t actually spend that much time at home, so I don’t have much for entertainment.” He chuckled. At the current moment, the main room of the boarding house was empty. The large wooden table that could seat more than a dozen was empty, recently cleared by whoever was on duty to do that today, save for a bouquet of fresh flowers in a vase and Kasty’s bag. As was the equally large commons room through a short hallway. While normally an oddity given the current proximity to dinner, recent events had a lot of people really tired, and several residents were still settling into the house. “Make yourself comfortable, I’m going to go grab some bowls.” He gestured to the commons room and the location of the house’s greatest couch concentration and the largest television. Minnie walked through the back door, shifting the plastic bags against her palms. She had been asked to pick up some essentials for the house on her way back from the meeting with her publisher. Had to pick up a royalty check and change addresses. Plus the normal chatter about speeding up with her books. The 23 year old rolled her eyes at the thought. Books weren't meant to be made instantly. God people were so impatient these days. She entered the kitchen and put away the items she bought. When she finished, Minnie took a strawberry ale from the fridge. It was then she saw Kasty grabbing some bowls.
"Hey Kast, got the munchies?"
She giggled and left the kitchen, planning to go upstairs. However when she reached the main room the plans were derailed. All because of a certain blonde waiting in there.
"Grant? What are you doing here?" She asked with a smile.

Grant was both excited and a little bit anxious. Nobody had ever invited him over to their house before, and he sure as hell never went to a party, as small scale as this one was. It was quite timely too, given how stressful and grueling things were lately. Now was the time to kick back, relax and perhaps forget about all of their troubles for the time being. While he didn't often drink, recent events kind of changed that, and Grant felt that a little bit of alcohol wouldn't hurt anybody. Technically, Grant was underaged, but being a 6'7 brick wall had less obvious benefits, such as cashiers not asking for ID.
And so there he was, standing in the boarding house's common room with two six packs of beer in hand. Grant placed them on the large table with the other things Kasty had prepared. He certainly pulled out all the stops to make sure that this was a worthwhile party. At least Grant thought it was a party. He hadn't been to enough to figure out what defined a party. Out of the corner of his eye, Grant spotted a shape with...pink hair. Turning around, he spotted a familiar face, much to his surprise. Did Kasty know Minnie too?
"Oh, Kasty invited me over"

There was finally some time to relax. After everything being so hectic, even a moment of respite felt like an eternity of bliss. Still, even Heaven needed refreshments every now and again. With that in mind, Tristan reluctantly pulled himself away from his comfy lounging position and started his long and perilous journey into the very depths of Hell, all in search for the very essence of life.
Or, rather, he was going to the kitchen to get some water and hoping he didn't meet anyone on his way there and back. Oh, the horror.
Still, he found he wasn't too particularly nervous when he came across a small gathering in one of the main rooms. He stopped just outside the doorway. "Hello," he said with a small smile and an even smaller wave. "Mind if I interrupt for a moment?" He had recognized Grant right away, because it would be impossible not to, and that had put him a little at ease. After all, Grant was a pretty nice guy, even if he didn't look it. "Just wanted to see if you need any help setting up," Tristan said politely. He was really indebted to everyone in the house, and he wanted to take every opportunity to help out where he could. Even if he didn't exactly want to, per se.
And besides, even he knew the value of knowing your neighbor. On top of that, what could go wrong with helping to set up a party? Possibly everything, considering how it was mainly a boarding house for supers, but what were the odds of anything happening?

"Hello there, my fellow NEET." A voice said, as Rex entered the room, clad in a pair of jeans. He'd been working out, both in the sense that he had just been doing it in his room, and in the sense that he'd been doing it consistently for months, and had a damn fine bod.
"Hey there, gorgeous." Rex said, pointing a pair of finger guns at Kasty. The nephew of the woman who had taken him in, Rex had been hitting on him since he got there, and he still didn't react to it at all. And now he thought he knew why. Because standing next to Kasty was a huge man. As in, probably twice Kasty's size.
"Who's your friend?" Rex asked, a sinking feeling in his gut as he saw the beer. Oh, woe is me. Cursed to forever crave love, but never find it. Always out of reach, like Sisyphus. Oh well. Tristan's sexy too. Rex thought.
"And...Minnie, right?" Rex asked the pink-haired woman. He'd grill her for information later.

It sometimes felt as though one could not walk from one end of the house to the other without bumping into at least three people. The same could be said if you were standing anywhere en route to the refrigerator. By the time Kasty returned with an armful of bowls and spoons, Grant had multiplied into three other people.
“Actually, I got ice cream.” He replied to Minnie as he paced into the commons room. Anticipating more people to show up, he had grabbed plenty of bowls and set these and his sack of ice cream on one of the side tables. “You guys want some?”
He waved in greeting to Rex. The guy always seemed to be a little bit overly friendly, but when set against the usual overly unfriendly people he normally dealt with, it was a nice change. “This is Grant.” He introduced. “I know him from campus.”
Though he hadn’t intended it to be, this little hang out seemed to have grown into a larger gathering. Tristan’s offering to help was appreciated. “I could use some help carrying stuff down. Do you know how to set up game consoles?” He asked Tristan, waving for him to follow as he jogged upstairs towards his room.
From his closet, he pulled out his second hand wii u, all its wires and controllers, several decks of cards, and a couple of board games. These he’d bring downstairs and drop on one of the couches for people to take their picks from.

"Maybe later Kast, thanks though."
Minnie took a sip of her ale and smiled brightly at Grant. Sauntering over, she pulled out a chair and sat down. It wasn't every day a cute friend of yours suddenly appeared in your house. Especially without your knowledge. Then again with so many people in the boarding home there where bound to be people everyone knew.
"It's good to see you're actually getting out of the house every once in awhile." She teased.
Hearing another voice, the young woman looked up. Tristan, one of the newer residents. She hadn't met him but Aunt Nora had a habit of talking at length about residents. Especially newer ones. She waved a moment before opening her mouth to speak. However Kasty answered the new guy's question, causing her to close her mouth. Another guy, Rex, walked in.
"Yeah, you must be Rex." She said with a smile.
She nodded, getting up to help set up. Following Kasty to his room, she picked up the Wii U and it's wires. After a quick check of the wires she headed down. Kneeling in front of the television she hooked it up. Now it was ready, if anyone wanted it at least.

Grant smiled at Minnie's cheeky comment. It was funny because it was true. Looks like she was going to join their little party as well, though he doubted she was originally planning to join, given her surprise at seeing him. Grant was a bit caught off guard by the equally sudden appearance of Tristan, though still waved back a greeting. So he lived here too? Grant wondered if there was either anyone he didn't know that lived here, or if any of his (very few) friends lived somewhere else. That rhetorical inquiry was immediately answered by the arrival of a newcomer, who Minnie called Rex. Seems like a lot more people were getting themselves involved in this get-together. This place was certainly interesting. And the lady who owned the place (someone who Kasty called Aunt Nora) even more so.
While it was a certainly new experience, Grant was pretty glad that he was hanging out with more people now. It got him out of his shell a little bit, as Minnie jokingly pointed out earlier. While Kasty and Tristan gathered things like board games and cards, Minnie went ahead and set up the gaming console. Grant took action and handed the beers to Rex, Minnie, Kasty and had two more in hand in case Tristan wanted any. Time to just sit back and relax.

Tristan nodded at Kasty's question with a nervous grin. "Of course, man, no problem." He started to follow and noticed that they were being accompanied by the woman with pink hair. "Oh, I'm Tristan, by the by," he said nervously towards her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, miss." He then turned back to Katsy and followed him upstairs.
"So what's going on, if I might ask?" he asked as he grabbed the stuff Katsy was pulling out of the closet. "Just a small get together or are we throwing an actual party? I need to know if I'm just going to be avoiding the house for tonight." It was a terrible and lame attempt at a joke, and he knew it. Still, what else could he expect when he was making small talk with people who were, for all intents and purposes, complete strangers? He sighed softly and mumbled a quiet apology before taking the stuff downstairs. Once there, he set the stuff down, organized it into separate groups, and took a seat. There was no way he wasn't going to meet his new neighbors, after all. Tristan did his best to take everything in. The things that stood out most was the jean clad guy and his obvious time and effort, and Grant (who, Tristan noticed, was holding a couple beers).
Disregarding the latter's choice of drink for the moment, Tristan turned to the first guy. He opened his mouth to make conversation, but he stopped himself from saying anything. He had no clue what he should say. "Sorry," he said quietly with a nervous chuckle. "I'm a bit out of my element, you know?"

"O-oh, thank you." Rex said, accepting the beer. He didn't usually drink unless he was having a bad day. Rex regarded the can for about three seconds before he popped the tab, and was about halfway through it by the time he followed Kasty upstairs. A forced smile was on his face as he prayed to every deity he could think of that he was wrong.
"S-so how long have you known him, then?" He asked Kasty's back, stepping aside for Minerva to get the games. By the time he realized they were moving stuff, Tristan already had it. "He, uh. He's very handsome." He said, then after realizing what he had just said, began pouring alcohol down his throat to stop himself from talking.

Samantha...didn't look in best mindset. The only sight one could see of her was a bundle of blankets and the sound of growling if one approached her without permission. Her bed was utterly surrounded by pepper wrappers and bags, even now there was crunching sounds from the bed, before another bag of chips joined the pile.
There was no way she ever planned on leaving this place, even if she arrived literally just now, but it seemed the world had different plans for her. First came that boy...Kasty's voice and his buddy, who she still haven't met. Not that bad. Then came another voice...not of this place but somewhat familiar. The cacophony kept rising, even when she covered her ears she couldn't escape it.
The blankets suddenly exploded off her figure, revealing a girl who had thought sleeping in her hoodie was a great idea. It wasn't visible, but various bandages laid plastered on her body, even if no real damage was visible in her movement.
Regardless, the very irritated girl headed straight for the noise, intending to gain idea what the hell was happening. She stomped around the corner...and stopped, tilting her head as she spotted the video games out. In the time it took to soak up the image, the anger was slowly replaced by curiosity.
"You're...playing video games?" She croaked out, wandering over near the wii U and plopping down, sitting childlike in criss-cross applesauce. For nor the first time, she wished she was at home, she never had to hang around other kids...teens...like this.
But, she wasn't home, wasn't she?
Her head was completely down, covered by her hoodie. Still, the barest social skills she possessed told her these people didn't know her. She raised a hand in a sort of claw, clearly intending a friendly wave, "Hi..." She started, "I'm...Samantha...Sam...whatever." The voice sounded disembodied from the hooded fighure, way too deep to be friendly, even if that voice was the only one she knew.

“About a month or so ago?” Kasty replied to Rex once everything was set up or dumped in a pile. “Would you say so, Grant?”
Without really thinking about it, Kasty took one of the cans from Grant. The beer was appreciated, but he wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. It wasn’t like he was against drinking, more, he never had and it was unknown to him how it would mix with him. He wasn’t sure if he was in an experimenting mood tonight. Electing he’d decide later, he held the unopened can under his arm and went to boot the wii u up and slide in Smash. Samantha had appeared before the television.
“Hey Sam.” He greeted with a smile, depositing a gaming controller in her lap. He dropped down on the couch beside Tristan and offered one to him as well.
“Don’t worry about it.” He said to Tristan. “You’re new here, right?” Then, opening the question to both of the two new residents, asked, “How’re you guys settling in? You like it okay?”
Perhaps he was talking too much and asking too many questions. The people he tended to hang out with either talked his ear off or had a five word per hour limit, and he was worried both cases were making him ramble.

After she finished setting up the game system, Minnie took the beer Grant offered. She stood up straight and smiled. This would be a good chance to meet all the residents of the house. Sure she had lived here before but it had been two years since she moved. There were bound to be some new faces around. Like Tristan who just introduced himself.
"I'm Minnie. Nice to meet you. And from what I gather it was supposed to be these two hanging out. Though it seemes to have ballooned from that."
Minnie raised an eyebrow as she heard Rex's comment. Why would he be drinking like that for just making an observation? He couldn't be that embarassed, could he? Then again... The pinkette's eyes slid over to Grant. She could get pretty embarassed when it came to him. And after her reaction during the dragon fight... She downed the ale she already had and then cracked open the beer she had recieved. Yeah she took back what she was thinking about Rex. She understood completely.
A small, croaking voice made her turn her head. The voice, a girl by the look of it, asked about what they were doing before introducing herself. The voice seemed familiar, similar to the voice of the creature she met in the slums. Could it be...? With all the things she had seen she didn't doubt it.
"Hi Sam, we're just hanging out. You want to join us?"

Everything seemed to be going alright. Most of the others, barring Tristan, accepted the offer of beer. Grant understood why Tristan would refuse the alcohol, given how he and Grant were most likely the youngest people in the party, but that wouldn't stop Grant. It was true that he never really drank, but some life-changing experiences did make him change his mind a little. What was life if you didn't live a bit, right? Setting the beer that Tristan declined on the table, Grant cracked open his own. Meanwhile, another resident of the boarding house made their presence known. She was a pretty odd one, wearing a hoodie that concealed most of her face and figure. The only way Grant could tell her gender was from her voice, which was still quite husky for a girl. With Kasty inviting her to the party, Grant was content with sitting by and watching the others play the console. Grant was afraid to admit that he never actually played a video game before.

Tristan smiled awkwardly as someone else joined the little party and at Kasty's question. "Hey Sam, welcome to the party," he said warmly. "I'm Tristan, it's nice to meet you." He waved a little in response to hers before turning back to Kasty. "I'm doing pretty fine, although it's been a big change. I'm not really used to the set up yet, but I'll get there eventually," he chuckled as he made his way to a controller.
Once he had the controller in his hand, a malicious look came over his face. He quickly selected Ganondorf and hid a vicious smile that came over his face. He didn't know if Ganon was the best character compared to whatever everyone else picked, by Tristan knew the game well enough to be able to adjust his play style accordingly. Simply put, even if he didn't win this fight, he could probably wipe the floor with his opponents in the long run.
