Minnie ignored the knock on the door until she finally lost her last life. Why did she suck so hard at this game? Standing up she peeked out the door. She didn't recognize the person but Kasty got the the residence spiel before she did. Unfortunately, the new guy could not get inside due to them all standing there.
"Guys, maybe we should let them in before we play twenty questions."
She gently grabbed Grant's arm to get him out of the way. She didn't want the new guy to stand out there in the sun if all of them were going to be in here. Besides it gave her an excuse to touch Grant. Mentally she slapped her self. She was not a teenager anymore. She needed to stop acting like it. She picked up her beer and drank from it. God she really needed to relax about Grant. It was getting out of hand. She took another sip and turned to the door, waiting for the new guy's answer.

How many bloody people were in there? He had a veritable wall of weirdos who matched his own weirdness, standing in front of him covering the door way. Heck the guy who opened the door was a bloody titan in comparison to himself, wouldn't be shocked if he could squash him with a finger. Shaking out the image, he decided to at least offer an awkward wave, annoyance quickly falling off his face..
"Uh kinda yeah just considering, kinda got this place recommended to me and well I uh wanted to check it out, if that's cool?"
He almost took a step when he saw the big guy dragged away slightly by the girl but shook it off in favor of hearing about the offer of smash, making his way through past the pair to reach the console. Being able to sit and pawn people sounded like the perfect thing to do when you felt like crap all over.
"Oh uh I'm Shane Mcloud, nice to meet ya all"

There was just something about this lanky beanpole that was just so familiar to Grant. He wasn't going to chalk it up to coincidence, given the amount of supposed strangers that he recognized turning out to be people he had met before, under...different circumstances, of course. He could vaguely recognize the guy's voice, but beyond that and his build, he couldn't get anything concrete. This silent attempt at recognition was interrupted by Minnie inviting this new guest into the house, taking Grant's arm to lead him back to the common room.
With this newcomer's (who called himself Shane) arrival, that meant more people could play the game in Grant's stead, exactly as he would prefer it. He wasn't going to make a fool out of himself just yet.

Tristan shrugged and went back to the common room, keeping an eye on Shane the whole time. He wondered what brought the man to the house, given how nobody seemed to have invited him yet he had been told about the house. Tristan wasn't exactly particularly social, but even he knew of the house's reputation. He supposed it wouldn't be too far off to assume that such a reputation played a part in the man's appearance. Which, of course, made Tristan focus on a subject that he had been keeping at the back of his mind this entire time: Bringing up his neighbor's "hobbies" and whether or not he should.
Deciding that it wouldn't hurt to try, he started plotting out ways to get his point across without being obvious. It wasn't an easy task, he discovered. There wasn't really a way that he could think of that was sure to work. Still, he couldn't just not ask. It went against his very nature!
"Say, Shane," Tristan said slowly as he thought up a question that just might be able work, "why might you be interested in the house? Any particular reason, or are you just in need of a change of scenery?"

Impatience was clear on Samantha's face as a new guy entered, Shane, she'd probably remember that. Her irritation at him melted as he made an attempt to act nicer, quickly returning her interest to the game.
At least till someone asked why Shane was here, she could tell what the question was actually asking and tilted her head to hear a reply. Hopefully this guy wasn't somebody she didn't like, otherwise the Smash might not be the only brawl in here.

And so Doctor Mario would change hands again. Kasty wandered back into the commons room after Shane and placed the bags of chips on one of the tables. From the same he claimed one of the tubs of ice cream and a spoon. Tristan had already asked the question he’d been thinking, and so settled down on the floor. It was pretty clear no one knew this guy, and he found it interesting he seemed more interested in playing Smash than talking to the head of the house.
Not that he could blame him. Kasty popped open the lid of the ice cream and watched the unfolding match.

Minnie eyed the new guy quizzically. She had long since lost interest in the game and her curiosity over Shane cried to be sated. Her hand still rested lightly on Grant's arm. Any movement and the contact would cease. Realizing this, Minnie oulled her hand away. There was no need to be weird and somewhat clingy. This guy meant no one harm. Tristan thankfully had the audacity to ask what the newcomer was doing here. No one seemed to know him and considering he decided to join in on the game rather than speak with Aunt Nora it was doubtful he needed a home. Just why was he here?

Shane could feel a pressure from nearly everyone in that room when he picked up a controller, and he had a sneaking suspicion it wasn't from the fact that he was about to lay the Smash smack down. All eyes were on him, and they honestly couldn't have made it more obvious that there was something more to this house. Well not like he wasn't being suspicious but they kind of started it. He also was wondering why the tv looked so fucked before he realized he still had sunglasses on like some kind of douchebag and quickly removed them, leaving his right eye closed.
"Sorry this eye's a bit sensitive to light...anyways yeah my flying saucer crashed a few streets away and I figured I'd be able to get comfortable lodging here, maybe snatch a few brains, and experiment on humans."
There may as well have been a cricket farm in the room as a response to that joke, which kinda made sense to Shane. If what they were asking had to do with what he thought they were asking, they weren't going to be in the best of moods for jokes like that.
"Fine fine I got a recommendation from a friend, said a lot of people who had similar thoughts and problems like me would be here. Problem is I can't tell if he's wrong or right cause I feel slightly interrogated which, I'll admit, is to be expected if these people have thoughts like me and problems like me, but let me tell ya it's still annoying."
His tongue stuck out the corner of his mouth while he played, being extremely defensive as it appeared his character was down a few lives. Man he could certainly relate to the defensive Doctor Mario at that moment.
"I've had rough couple weeks as is dealing with titanic problems, and a love bird and stuff. Ugh if that guy's wrong gonna strangle him, coulda gave more info instead of just giving him a thumbs up like some jolly green giant"
He began to mutter under his breath, though it wasn't exactly subtle as he became more and more annoyed by the situation.

Grant was about to say something regarding Minnie's hand on his arm, but she pulled it away before he could even open his mouth. That was some pretty good timing on her part. He didn't think much of it anyways, it was just pretty weird of her to do that. But now everyone's focus was on Shane's reasons for being here. Grant himself couldn't really care less, but he still listened to his explanation for why Shane was here. As he made a bad joke that almost physically hurt Grant, Shane got serious and talked about someone's invitation. Going by the looks of the others, they certainly weren't the ones to do so. Then Shane mentioned the thumbs up. And a 'jolly green giant'. Oh boy.
Shooting Kasty and Minnie nervous glances, he realized exactly why he was here and who invited him. Perhaps even more panic inducing was his realization who exactly Shane was. With that revelation, a panicked Grant decided to change the subject, "Let's just drop it. He's fine"

Tristan couldn't help but smirk a little when Shane said he was being "interrogated", but he was smart enough to know to hide it. He doubted the guy would appreciate seeing that, no matter the reason behind it. And then Shane went on to talk about how he heard about the place via recommendation. Honestly, that was pretty much all the confirmation Tristan needed. Still, of course he was going to try and take the subtle route. While the guys who lived there were probably the sort of people Shane was discussing, Grant was a wildcard. He didn't live at the house, and he didn't seem to be moving in; other than being super quiet and hanging out with people way older than him, there were no indications of him being... "Problematic", as Shane all but put it. Which is why it sorta made sense when Grant was the only one who spoke up. Everyone else knew what the question meant.
Interesting, if not altogether unexpected.
Tristan answered with a shrug before speaking. "Alright, alright," he said with a sigh. "Not meaning any offense, Shane. Like you said, probably expected, but I'm sorry. Could've said that better." He paused a moment to let his words sink in, then continued. "Since we're gonna drop that subject, what should we talk about?" He chuckled nervously for a brief moment before waiting for a response.

Samantha scoffed at Shane's excuse of a joke, even though she knew she wouldn't respond even if she did consider the joke funny. She simply grunted in approval as she launched some poor player into nothingness.
At the admission it was a recommendation, she was completely convinced he was a super, whatever he was. She discreetly listened to his grumblings, trying to see if her suspicions were correct. Not that he would know, as she had taken a packet of ice cream and was currently shoveling it into her mouth, still mashing buttons amazingly enough.
It was a little irritating, how everyone was so awkward around this newcomer! At Tristan's question, she sunk down low, "Video games?" She stated, "We're playing one right now!"

So Shane was also a super. There wasn’t many other conclusions that could be drawn from ‘people with similar problems live here’. Someone who knew about both the house and Shane’s likely extracurricular activities must’ve told him about the place.
And, if his ever so keen detective skills were holding, that person was Grant. There were few other people short of very strange and vegetable-minded street performers that could match the description Shane gave. Kasty gave Grant a quizzical look. So he knew this guy’s other guy? Guess that made some sense, given the circumstances, and if he said Shane was okay, Kasty was going to take his word for it.
So, Kasty let the matter drop. Instead he was going to bring up a new one. A change in subject had been requested, after all. Coughing into his fist with the intent of getting Grant’s attention, he asked, “Wasn’t there something you wanted to discuss with our group here, Grant?”

Minnie smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head in embarrassment. Perhaps they were being hasty in there actions.
"Sorry, I guess we are still apprehensive about people because of how much shit has hit the fan recently. So many have lost homes, not all of then good people. I'm Minnie by the way."
The pinkette flashed a bright smile toward the blonde boy. She honestly hoped there were no hard feelings. Though something was bugging her. His voice. His voice was ringing some bells of familiarity in her mind. Where had she heard it before? She didn't recognize his face, so there was no why they had met face to face. Perhaps she had bumped into him on the street? The only way would be to ask him who his other self was directly. And one couldn't do that without breaking one of the house rules. So she would wait.

Shane flipped his character so that he was hanging off the edge, using the few precious moments of safety to spare a quick glance around the room to judge each person's reaction to his answer. Well it appeared he was in the right place at least, which was kinda good...he guessed. And they all seemed alright, the grumpy gamer next to him was kinda funny and this other guy at least apologized for being a bit of an ass. He didn't dare focus on Minnie, that was an action liable to stop his brain completely, plus she sounded really familiar and nice. Then there was the tall guy, probably Grant judging by the interrogator trying to get his attention, and he suddenly caught his nervousness. A reaction he knew all to well and enjoyed way to much. But for now he took a sip from a soda can that had appeared in his open hand and placed it between his legs. These people were most likely like him, so it wouldn't be that shocking and it would help confirm any doubts that he was in the wrong place. But shoving those thoughts aside he went back into the game, intent on not letting the ice cream eater kill him. Also he should probably talk back to them, that usually helped.
"I like talking bout video games but I'm also curious bout what Grant wants to talk about-GAH BOM-OMB...Oh and uh nice to meet ya Minnie, I get the whole shit hitting the fan trust me on that one."
He glanced over to flash her a wide smile in return but man was she driving him crazy. Not in the usual way she probably drove other people crazy, though that was a factor, but cause he recognized that smile and voice...Gah this place was stressful and annoying and making it real hard to concentrate. Not hard to cough though as he felt a itch well up in his chest and he had turn to cough violently into his elbow, damn it he still had to go through a week of this...probably more knowing his luck.
"Sorry, that's my uh...recent stuff acting up..."
Smooth as a gravel road, Shane, smooth as a freaking gravel road.

Grant was a little concerned that he had brought a lot attention to himself. Undue attention. Though when you thought about it, any kind of attention was undue. But despite his own nervousness, he noticed something about Shane. He kept on shooting glances at Minnie, and despite how subtle he tried to make those glances, Grant caught them all the same. For some reason, it kind of bothered Grant, especially when she smiled at him. He didn't know why, it just did. It wasn't an obvious feeling either, just a suspicion he felt at the back of his mind. But he pushed aside those personal feelings and thought objectively.
He was clearly a super, and if he was right about who he thought Shane was, one he knew fairly well. Just after the dragon attack, he had talked to a certain Pandaemonium member about going to this particular boarding house. Grant himself only knew of it when Kasty had invited him over the week before. He didn't actually think he would turn up (in his civilian persona, no less), since he was pretty late. But he was here, which meant they could discuss a few things.
Then Kasty brought something up, something private. Getting up, Grant excused himself, shooting a glance at Kasty that told him to follow him into kitchen. Once they were inside, Grant would ask something of his friend, "Is it safe?"
