"I guess." His reasoning seemed incredibly black and white to her, but the more Kasey tried to place her finger on how to explain it, the more thorough it seemed. Different shades of grey suddenly belonged ont eh fringes of one faction or another rather than having their own autonomy.
"I don't think it's quite that simple, though." Or was it? Bystanders did nothing, one or way another. The unaware didn't help those in the camp of helping or reaching a solution. Those who did not care or did not hinder were not bringing them any closer to reaching the goal of improvement. And yet, to think of it in such simple terms felt like the situation was being robbed of the focus it deserved.

"No? How would you see it?"

It was a good question. She mulled over how to explain her thoughts clearly, to expand on a black-and-white notion.
"I would see it as a problem with multiple solutions and resources. It's difficult to say who could have part of the solution or who is just the problem - who would stay on one side of that line or the other. Maybe a solution fails or the person gives up and becomes a problem. Maybe someone with experience in one of the 'problem' groups ends up having a solution, but only after they've had that experience. Maybe there's more than one problem tied to yours, for better or worse.
"You can't take everyone into account, and sometimes problems are going to remain problems, but there's a lot of gray in there, too." She stops with a mildly horrified expression, making a face and shaking her head.
"Sorry. Crap wording, but you know what I mean."

"Pun intended, I'm sure." He smiles with a shake of his head.
"But fair answer, I suppose. Even if it is a cop out. You say you can't take everyone into account, but why not? Aren't the only limitations in life the ones you allow to be placed upon you?"

"Uggh, no. I hear enough of those at home." She shakes her head, running a hand through her hair at teh notion of her being infected by the pun virus.
"Is it a cop out? You are focusing on one problem, but someone or something that is a problem to that one situation could be a solution you would need later on." She eyes him for a moment with a hint of a smile. "But then, that wouldn't stop some people from carrying out with what they had anyway to make a new change.
"But you're right about the limits." Look at what she'd been able to do with next to nothing, and that was just a financial concern. No one needed ot tell Kasey that there was worse out in the world to deal with. "We decide where they're at. I guess it's just a matter of strength of will again? See who wins when opposite sides try to change something in different ways."

"You come from a pun-loving household?" Greyson smiles in amusement.
"So if you had to fashion a guess..." He paces towards her, inspecting the fire before moving up to her side.
"Who would you say has the stronger will between say...you and i?"

"Brothers." She reiterated the word as a form of explanation, shaking her head in dismay. "Haven't had a day yet where I've gone without hearing a few." She chuckles and lets him inspect the fire to see if it's to his satisfaction. After all, he's the one that's going to be cooking with it. She chuckles, looking up even more now that he was standing right beside her. Significantly so, given their height difference.
"That's one of the reasons we're here, isn't it? To find out."

"Sounds horrifying." Grey shakes his head, looking back down at her with a coy smile.
"I suppose it is, yes. You're doing a splendid job so far if I do say so, myself."

"You get used to it after a while. It's that or go nuts." She chuckled, lips curling into a more lighted and amused expression.
"Well, it's only the first part of the trip. Endurance hasn't come into play yet."

"Oh? You sound like you have something in mind."
Grey moves over to his fish and starts getting a few out, along with his knife.

"Maybe." She gives him a bright smile with her response, walking past him as he begins preparing the fish to put the water on the fire to boil. The berries are also set out, enough to accompany the fish, but she doesn't settle in for sitting down just yet. The hike had taken a good chunk of the day, leaving her to feel content rather than restless.
"I'd ask what you think, but we both expect to win."

"Do we? Or is one of us just putting up a fight to make things interesting and to build anticipation?"
Grey cuts them open pretty well, but doesn't seem to do a great job at deboning them. The organs come out nicely, but he starts giving up on removing the bones on fish 3.

"Is that so? That's pretty interesting." She nods at the fish with a smile at his hint. Regardless of the banter and the awkward moments that come with trying to feel out the boundaries with someone you've just met, she trusted Greyson and felt comfortable with him.
"You're doing really well. Maybe you were a fisherman in a past life or something."

"Ha...I don't know about that."
He stands and wipes some sweat off his brow, looking a bit frustrated.
"Fish anatomy is a lot more simple than a humans so gutting isn't too hard. But these bones break everytime I try to pull them out so...try not to choke." He skewers a few on some sticks.

"Well it's only your first time." Then again, he does have to know what anatomy is like. It made sense, and the sensibility of his statement earns him a nod and a small laugh.
"I won't blame you, promise. At least we know we won't die of something toxic or anything." She leans back on her heels, looking around the campsite with a conspirator's smirk.
"Can't say the same for the bears, though."
