Grey hikes along side Kasey, pack slung over his shoulder. It seems packed pretty full, but not overly bulky. He eyes Kasey's pack, seeing how she dealt with carrying it.
"So what items did you decide to bring?"
He tightens his grip on the shoulder strap, taking a few large steps up the mountain's hill before turning and offering Kasey his hand to help her up the ledge.

Kasey's eyes were bright as she walked alongside Greyson, enjoying the fresh air and time away from the rest of the world. As much as she loved being around people, there was something wondrous about the natural world. She shoulders her pack with relative ease, mindful not to lean or bend over too far but otherwise appearing capable of keeping up for now. Her pack seems to hold quite a bit, though not bursting. She'd paced as light as possible to prevent it from weighing her down or causing further issues, but she wasn't going to promise she'd thought of everything.
"A cooking pot, of course." Was that cheating? Not to her, bu they hadn't specified the rules too much. It was supposed to be open to interpretation. Anything else was conveniently not mentioned. Like the stuff she made and promised to show him. "What about you?"

"A garbage bag." He smiles.
"So that's one item each. What about your other two?"

"Very responsible of you." And eco-friendly, too.
"I also brought a multi-tool." She takes his hand as he holds it out for her, but it's more for support as she hops up to join him, rather than let Greyson pull her up. Did she need it? Maybe. She was still a little tender around the torso, but for the most part she was fine. But Kasey was enjoying herself, regardless. The tool in question may or may not have been altered by Kasey herself to expand its functions and include...other things.
"You'll have to wait and see what the third one was." She had promised, after all.

"Knife." He holds up a simple buck knife as he pulls her up with the other hand.
"What kind of multi tool, exactly?"

"This kind." She pivots to the side so she can pull the tool out for inspection without going backwards. Pulling the tool out of her pocket, Greyson can see Kasey brought a tool with several tools, just in case. There are two different knife blades, screwdriver heads, wire cutters, wire strippers, needle nose pliers, a file, scissors, a bottle opener, and a final tool slot that she doesn't open.
"I adjusted it a bit, just in case."

"A regular Girl Scout, huh?"
Grey snickers as he nods her to keep following as they make for campground. There's still a good few hours of sunlight left and he'd like to make camp before dark.
"So why is the third one a secret?"

"Practical yes, girl scout not so much." She grins and shakes her head. She didn't use it for just camping, after all. The tool goes back into her pocket without further comment, her focus shifting back to him as they continued on. Her shorter legs meant moving more quickly to keep up with him, but with their hike still far from fully underway, she was confident in her pacing.
"Because I promised to show you during the trip, and it's only just beginning." Really now, Greyson.
"What's yours?"

"Oh just a lighter. I don't think I'm as fancy as you are." He hums as he continues through the path.
"We're almost to a good spot, what do you think?"

"See, you say that, but I have to wonder..." She lets her sentence trail off to tease him, then looks around the area to see what she thinks of it.
"I think you may be on to something." She looks back at him, curious. "Is this a place you've been to often?"

He shakes his head, looking at the clearing with a creek nearby and a few trees overhead.
"I've never been camping before."

"What? Why not?" Kasey blinks, eyes widening to the point they're almost owlish at his revelation. That could mean this trip could go any way without notice. She'd be more up for the challenge if she knew how prepared he was so she knew how much of what to take on or teach him.
"Well, looks like this competition is going to be a first time with a twist for you." She grins and claps her hands together as her head as her usual demeanor returns, addressing him with more consideration now. Had he really never been camping before? That seemed so odd to her, but then again, most people liked the fancier, flashier things. Like a city where there was functional plumbing and the internet.
"Who knows, maybe you're a natural and don't know it yet. You've already found a good spot."

"I never had anyone to go with." He shrugs.
"Camping wasn't really my mom's thing. But don't worry, I've read a lot about it. I think I got this...in the bag." He holds up his garbage bag.

In other words, thank goodness for the internet. Kasey nods with his explanation, accepting it at face values as she has done the other parts people have shared about themselves with her. Just as she knew that not everyone had the same hobbies or types of family dynamic, a fact that waves a flag when Greyson mentions his mother. It is, however, set aside for the attempt at humor that results in another pun.
"I didn't think you'd be the pun type." She shakes her head with a small laugh, taking a couple of more steps into the clearing and turning in a circle to take it in more fully before facing him again.
"Your dad wasn't, either?" Maybe he was one of those kids who focused on studying his whole life.

"It was too good to pass up."
He shrugs and smiles again, setting his pack down as he starts to go through it. Grey pauses when she asks her question, but resumes unpacking a moment later as he replies, not turning to face her.
"He...died. When I was pretty young."
