The sunlight reflecting off the water was the perfect touch to make Kasey's already pristine surroundings over the top. The soft roar of the ocean, the clear skies, the scattering of people along the beach, all of it screamed tourist perfection. The sort that people paid out their ears for and then some. It actually made her self-conscious, seeing the rooftops of homes that belonged to the wealthy. They were the sort of places where she could probably fit her entire home in the kitchen.
But the water was inviting, and with he street clothes stashed in a bag not far off, the inventor was content to enjoy the sun and whatever else the day would bring. Her days were rarely dull.

"Whoever invented the sun should've installed a dim function."
The current complaint being thought, and unknowingly voiced aloud, by the pale teen walking along the beach. It wasn't just a slight pain that his parents called him to the isle but a massive one if his constant groaning and wincing were any indication. Like hell he was telling how those came to be, not like he could think up an excuse for them anyways. He was thankful he had shown up early though, and that they were going to be late as usual, meant more time to just relax at one of the few things he actually enjoyed there. In spite of the complaints, it was a nice day out and one he could hopefully enjoy. With a shirt, sandals, and trunks on, Shane walked around in search of something to do. And with a little luck he quickly spotted a familiar fan of puns among the excited beach goers.
"So you work at the coolest place and hang out at the hottest, bit of a contradiction huh?"

Kasey looks around at the sound o fa familiar voice, spotting Shane a little further down the beach and away from the current crowd. All grins and sunshine, she waves and slips around the group, already having abandoned her sandals and sunglasses for a family-friendly bikini.
"Well, you know, I have to thaw out somehow. What brings you out here?"

"Hahaha good one. and eh ya know figure I'd try to go for a skin tone that wasn't bone pale."
Shane chuckled as he closed the distance, arms thrown behind his head as usual while he grinned. Though if one looked closely they'd have seen a slightly twitch of a grimace from the simple action.
"I thought it was gonna be kinda boring but then I found a cool and rockin' person that I know, and figured it'd be rude of me if I didn't head over to bug her."

"Don't worry, you've got plenty of time to work on it." Though coming from her, that may not be saying too much. While not neon white, Kasey's own complexion was fairly light. She notices the light wince but doesn't comment on it since it's only the one time. For all she knows, he strained something while moving arcade equipment around.
"Well I certainly can't say no to that offer," she muses with a laugh. "Any plans today that this rockin' person can shake up so you stay away from bored?"

"Well I'm probably free for the next three or four hours, meaning I'm welcome to any suggestions she may or may not have."
Shane grinned, Kasey was pretty good company and that's pretty much what he needed at the moment. It had been a rough week and some laughs with a nice person sounded much too good to pass up.
"It helps that I know for a fact whatever she'll pick will be nice."

"Cool." She grins and nods, taking a step back. Unlike Shane, she doesn't stretch, but when her hands lace behind her back, there's a brief flicker of displeasure, as though something twinged or caught her attention.
"Well, I was thinking of heading off for a bit of a swim, but I don't know if you can or not. Or if that even interests you."

Shane been about to ask about the look before he shook it off to think about her question. He bit his lip in thought, on one hand he wanted to curse the sea and neptune but on the other he kinda wanted to swim with her.
"Listen long as you promise to drag me out in case I drown, I'd love to swim with ya."
He kinda wished he was just joking, but there was a slight possibility of it occurring and he knew how much it freaking sucked.

Kasey wondered if she'd managed to pick a sore subject when she saw Shane bite his lip in thought and hesitate. She started to suggest something else, but he agreed after it felt like a small, agonizing century. She studied him a moment, then nodded as the smile returned to her face.
"Of course I will. Just call me your friendly lifeguard." Not like she wasn't used to pushing herself if she needed to. Taking a step back, she gestured to where she'd left her satchel.
"Place for your stuff and everything."

"I'd hope all lifeguards are friendly considering their job and thank you for the spot."
Shane chuckled while he headed over to drop a small pack besides hers and kicked off his sandals. With a grin he headed back to her side, towards the water.
"I'd take my shirt off, but I'd prefer not to blind people with all my pale glory."
He seemed a bit awkward about saying that, rubbing the back of his head with a slight wince and grin.

"I think they'd keep the mindless drones away from chair duty." Kasey turns and waits for Shane to join her again, glad that the spot is relatively secluded from the traffic of other beechgoers.
"That's okay, I'm sure the sun will understand." Kasey isn't the least bit bothered by his choice of shirt and starts heading off to the water, turning back to make sure Shane was keeping up with her.

"You think and I'll hope, though really don't need hope since I got once...also how would the sun understand it was raised in china, why does it speak english?"
Horrible jokes aside, Shane was thankful once again for the lack of questions as he hopped along the hot sand to the cool water with her. The winces were bit more frequent than just hot feet but he did look wimpy enough to just not handle pain well.

While observant, Kasey is often one to pry, and Shane's theory proves mostly right as he refocuses on her comment. Her feet are already in the water, tiny swells rising up to tickle her ankles as foam scatters across the sand. She waits for him to get closer, chuckling at the attempt to make it without burning the bottom of his feet. It was a valiant effort, at least.
"It's a universal thing." Look at what you've done, Shane. You've unleashed a monster. She tilts her head to the side.
"You got one?" She gives him a concerned look. Did he mean he'd come across a life guard that hadn't been on top of things before? That would be...well, this might be an awkard thing for him. But Shane did seem fine with it, so maybe she was reading too much into it.

"Well I meant I don't need to hope for a competent life guard cause I got a friendly in arms reach right now, plus I'd say the last few times I've needed one they've pretty much been angelic."
He let out a relieved sigh as he hoped into the water, relaxing ever so slightly as he feet were no longer burning. He once again scratched the back of his head though a bit embarrassed, he didn't want her worrying over something like that. There was lot more stuff he had that she could've worried but like hell he was gonna say them.
"Sorry didn't mean to make you worry, I guess I was spacing out cause of our out of this world puns."

She did worry for a few moments, the fact that she was being trusted giving way to the fact that this apparently was not uncommon for Shane. That sounded inconvenient, among other things.
"Well, I don't know about angelic, but I'll keep an eye out for you, anyway." She wades deeper with a laugh at the joke and adds her own running line. "I mean, I doubt I'd do well unless the feathers were waterproof."
