Kasey chuckles but says nothing, again turning to face him as she reaches Shane's side, then goes ahead of him. Her eyes shine with triumph as she turns around, resisting the urge to let her fingers lace behind her back as they were wont to do. She'd learned not to be too relaxed around people who could be dangerous. Especially the ones that said they were.
She says nothing.

Shane felt his nerves and worry turning to impatience and annoyance quickly as she stayed silent, if she knew she could just outright say it instead of playing the quiet game like this. Especially because there was only one way she could know that didn't involve being a mind reader and few of her reactions suggested she wasn't one.
"Have I done something that would suggest otherwise out of curiosity?"
But he couldn't and shouldn't vent his frustrations yet til he knew every fact for certain, otherwise it'd end badly. Plus losing a good friend that wasn't completely annoying was something he didn't want...long as she stayed not annoying.

At this point, she might as well take the chance. She could feel the irritation tinting his voice like a physical thing, reminding her of her tendency to avoid upsetting others if she could. Then again, if she was right...
If she was right, one of her friends was a super. The thought was sobering, and for a few moments, the silence around her turns pensive rather than amused. She shakes her head and looks back at Shane with a serious expression. She couldn't stand supers, and yet, here was one, walking with her. Laughing and goofing around with her. But how long until he destroyed something else?
Plus, she had saved a villain. Twice.
"Let's make one of those favors a fair trade. I don't tell people about your nighttime hobbies, and you don't tell them about mine."

Welp that sentence alone knocked the wind out of him quite a bit, but at the very least he could release a pent up breath that had been severely stressing him out for the past few minutes. So his current friend was a super, at least she was a friendly one...he could think of a few that would've made him give up the secret identity right then and there just to get a couple shots in.
"Sure yeah I got um...no prob with that."
This was his own thought, making all the stupid jokes like he was clever or something when he wasn't certain she wasn't someone who'd understand everyone and be able to put 1 and 1 together.
"So...where do we go from here...?"
He actually wanted to keep being friends but this sudden change suggested otherwise.

Her thoughts swirl in an endless dance that somehow leaves each word clear even as they stumble over each other to be heard. Shane was a super. Maybe she shouldn't have been surprised: if supers didn't want attention drawn to themselves, of course they'd seem like normal people. Heck, she hadn't even been able to tell until the pieces were laid out before her. He was Pandemonium, too, but so what? He hadn't attacked her, though maybe that was because of the injuries? Or was it just him?
And then the question he asks sends her into a new whirlwind of thought where she can't tell up from down. Friends? Kasey rubs her face wither her hands, pressing her palms against her eyes once she closes them to help her focus. The pressure only ends up giving her a headache.
Friends. Could they be? Could she really just pick and choose? But if she said no, what then? Would Shane simply be a person in her debt? Did she release him to cut off all ties? Would they go to being just two people who passed one another as strangers on the streets? And what about if his alter ego showed up in the news or something?
"...I don't know." She pulls her hands away from her eyes.

Shane had actually felt slight guilt as he watched her, she was fairly stressed and he figured that was reasonable. For him it wasn't that big of a deal cause he really didn't care much about the factions so much as he did about the members. Course only thing he knew for certain was that she wasn't Pandemonium and had saved his life. Glancing around he let out a sigh before grabbing her hand and quickly began running in spite of his soreness.
"Come on follow me"
This was not going to be the easiest conversation and it certainly was not one he was having out in public with her. It'd be way too much trouble dealing with idiots if other people heard them speaking. Besides he was just gonna follow his faction's motto, screw the rules they could do whatever they want.

What.
Kasey's dilemmas all shatter in an epic explosion that only she can hear as Shane's hand closes around her wrist. Instinctively, she pulls it back, the motion harder than she intended since he decided to start running and dragged her a couple of steps. She stumbles for a second and stares at him.
"Where?" She wasn't expecting a secret lair or something, she's more curious than cautious at this point. She was pretty sure people wouldn't be around to see or hear whatever was going to happen, and she didn't exactly have anything on her but her own physical ability to protect herself. Yet she found herself willing to follow. Maybe. This wasn't adventure; this was confusing.
Maybe that's why she started following him again.

"Uh just the alley and er to a roof, I just don't want anyone hearing anything they shouldn't okay?"
He wouldn't deny it hurt a bit on both levels when she pulled but he should've expected it considering the current situation with all the tension between them at that moment. He probably could've handle it better but he was just as if not more stressed than her.
"I owe you my life and you're kinda still my friend, alright? So I won't hurt ya."
Making it between buildings, he turned a bit away from her, eyes turning pitch black before releasing a flash that made tall shimmering wall cover the space between buildings. People on the other side would just see a video of an empty alley. With a second flash there was a small square platform for them as he offered a hand.
"Um need a lift?"
In spite of the current situation he couldn't but want some sense of normality with a cheesy pun, hell even her smacking his head would be preferred over the current situation.

"Right." She nods and continues on with him, skeptical but willing to see, perhaps foolishly so, what he had in mind. Hear what he wanted to say. As Shane himself mentioned, he owed her, and if for some reason he felt the need to lash out, well, he wasn't wearing a helmet. It gave her a small advantage, anyway, but there was still a sort of twisting going on in her gut.
She turns at the light that goes up behind them when they near the alley, alarm bells going off that this would be a dumb idea, regardless of if he was a super. And yet, wouldn't she just assume that he was showing her some weird graffiti or a secret place with a view? It gave her another chance to see his power in action, at least.
She looks from Shane to the new platform, paying more attention now. It was now or never.
"Okay." A beat of silence. "This is how you got yourself out of the water, right?" She hadn't imagined that light.

He let out a breath of relief as she didn't fight.
"Yes I uh...make light kinda solid, well solid as light can be, and make it work for me."
He had a bit of pride in his voice, rubbing the back of his head before he offered a hand to her.
"Now please step aboard, if you want you can uh even hold me so I won't drop you in case that worried you, I'd bet even a single punch to the gut could knock me out now..."
He lifted his shirt to reveal the more serious injuries coating his front, dark blotches coating most of his upper body. He knew it was completely idiotic of him, but he had a stupid hope they could actually go back to somewhat being friends, even if he had to be slightly desperate. And if he had to show that she probably had more control over the situation than him, he'd be willing to give it a shot.
"...pleeeeeeease don't make me regret this."

"Interesting." True enough, she seemed interested in what he told her, at least, but when Shane offers to let Kasey get in close and possibly a free punch on teh side, she shakes her head and hops up on the platform all on her own. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to touch Shane to actually stay on it and not go right through.
"You're fine, Shane." she holds herself well, letting out a soft sigh as he shows her just how much damage he'd taken the other night. Boy looked a mess. She blinks at both the weird wave of sympathy. Regardless of whether she was Kasey or Canary, she had never been one for violence, not even to supers.
"Don't give me reason to," she challenges. The ball was in Shane's court, and neither seemed to want to act on the power the other had just yet. It was like trying to dance around shards of glass while in those blasted sandals.

"I'll try not to, but it's uh kinda hard apparently I can't stop making puns that make you hit me."
He gave a light shrug that wouldn't hurt himself, and smiled slightly at least she didn't appear that angry more just careful around him. That was probably a good sign right? Well at the very least he wasn't in a fight, which was better than most meeting he had with supers.
With a flick of the wrist, the plane rose upward until they were on level with the roofs of the tall buildings. With a flash of his eyes a dome appeared around the building's roof, mimicking the previous wall and making it appear empty to anyone looking from outside it.
"I hope this uh alright, for us to talk, not a lot of people disturb you when you're on a roof that's 'empty'."

"Weren't you supposed to not be making puns, anyway?" She raises a brow at him then to the rooftop before stepping out on it. Slowly turning in a circle, she looks back at him, curious again.
"Is it just light?" At least it's not nighttime. Broody people flock to rooftops then.

"Make no puns and make you not want to hit me is a bit of a large request."
Shane said with a quiet chuckle as he rubbed the back of his head before stepping off and looking around.
"I uh think it's just really condensed light with maybe....I'll be completely honest I have not completely figured it out, it's probably more complex than I think."
This was reeeeeeally awkward and just dancing around issues the were going to have to tackle sooner rather than later.

"Well, there's no one to hear us, then, so that's something." She folds her hands behind her back this time. No more dancing now.
"We'll worry about puns later." Her tone is light and even, as if holding back the conviction of a thousand angry fire ants, or waiting to embrace the power that came with the ocean being an ally that would launch itself at someone who wasn't what they seemed.
"I don't even know where to start."
