Well there went him being the awkward fool. Now he was just an awkward super who had no clue what the hell to do at that moment.
"Yeah that's a uh reasonable, response."
Rubbing the back of his head, he tried to think of something that he could say that would at least make this less deadly for him.
"Alright well I'm uh...Shane Mcloud and um that super that you saved a few nights...I'm a member of pandemonium and damn proud of it, I enjoy puns, guns, and uh I guess games and and sodas...that a uh good way to start things? I'll be honest this is the first time I've kinda come clean about this...and it's a little more than nerve wracking."

"I have those sometimes." She snorts and shakes her head, letting Shane get through the most painful introduction she's ever heard, and that's including some of the ones Kasey has made herself. She runs her hand through her hair again, trying to fidn something to say, something to ask, but everything is still rushing in at once and leaving her to guess where she's even at, let alone where she's supposed to be.
Part of her wanted to scream, she knew that much. At Shane, at Sanduleak, at the world, even the sky. Even herself. This was stupid! The whole thing, everything, was just...just....
Both hands shove their way through her still-drying hair, pulling so that it goes back with them and digging at the base of her neck as Kasey forces herself to take a deep breath. Focus. Think.
"I really want to hate you right now," she finally declares, spinning back to face him as her hands fall back to her sides. "Or throw my shoe again, maybe both, but I really don't feel like having to get it a second time."

Shane stared at her awkwardly, actually concerned if she was going to toss something at him until she kinda denied that thought. Well maybe it appeared this was going to be a lot harder than he originally thought.
"...Yeah I uh don't blame you there but uh...can I ask though...why do you wanna hate me so much out of curiosity?"
It was hurting him a little seeing her so confused, frustrated, and angry at him, he let loose a pair of flashes to create a pair of chairs as he was tired from the slight emotional overload. Sitting down he looked her over, curiosity clear in his eyes. He hadn't done much as a super, collateral damage sure, but he wasn't that much of a maniac for civilian casualties.

This wasn't happening. Kasey could feel the bitterness twisting in her chest, a knot so painful that when Shane asked about her conflicting emotions, her she twitched. Fussing over the fact that he was a villain was only a small part of it; the larger part was that he was a super to begin with. But telling him why?
it would be so much easier if he were Sanduleak. If he were the man in a mask, the self-proclaimed member of Pandemonium, she could do it. She could unleash on him without restraint, let it out and make sure he knew exactly where he stood with the woman whom he owed his life to. But it wasn't, not physically. Sanduleak was just Shane, or vice versa, and it was the face of her friend that watched her, spoke to her. The one who was trying to reach out for her.
She knew, if she started, there were going to be questions. There were always questions.
"You first." She takes a deep breath, scrubbing at her face as she tried to settle her nerves. Eventually, she stops pacing and takes a seat, legs crossed as she takes the offered seat. "You're a super. Fine. A villain, even. How many people know?" She tried to think of what her research on him had been the night after they first met. It hadn't revealed much; apparently he was one of the less destructive supers in the city.
"Why even do this? Go out, strike others down. Do you realize what that does? Or does collateral just not matter for your bigger picture or whatever?"

"That's...that's fair"
Shane couldn't help nodding in agreement at it being his turn first, he was clearly the one on trial who was slightly deserving of this. Thankfully coming out to her wasn't that much of a hassle, hopefully it wouldn't become worse though. Letting a sigh before quickly collecting thoughts, he began to talk.
"Yup I'm Sanduleak, currently it's you and me who know and I'd prefer to keep it that way."
The second part was going to be the 'fun part'. She was gonna judge him and he hated that he knew her, that he knew she wasn't some stupid idealist who he could just throw to the curb in his conscious and ignore. She was Kasey and a friend he kinda wanted to keep. After the bout he could only shrug and glance up at the sky, tempted to make a mask to hide his face from the light and her eyes.
"It's fun and simple...I purposely don't target the poor, I go for the rich who I know can handle it. The collateral I do is kept to a minimum unless the public decides to unreasonably piss me off. Yes I know I'm the bad guy but you know what there was a snowballs chance in hell of me even considering joining the keepers and the bulwarks are ninety percent idiots who think they're heroes and doing good when only one out of a hundred of them actually act decent...so excuse me for wanting to be a part of the gang that just accepts everyone, no delusions or even a plan...just fun for once."
Slowly his voice before quickly becoming tired at the end, tears filling the corners of his eyes that he refused to let fall. God that wasn't the whole truth

It had better be fair; Kasey bristled at Shane's agreement, even though he was hardly fighting her. He was bending against her outburst without caving. She nods once in acknowledgement of their shared privacy, that they both only knew of the other's identity, but the end result had her on edge again, teeth gritting at the first part. Fun? That was why he did it? Because he could? Because it was another game? Her fingers curl until her nails are digging into her knees.
What even counted as pissing him off? The paparazzi he mentioned before? That could piss anyone off, but lashing at them with powers was wrong. Not that she disagreed about the other groups. They were ridiculous, just like...
She shakes the thought away, refocusing on what Shane's explanation with a frown.
"So you play Robin Hood for kicks. Because you can." Her words come out flat and stiff, watching as he looks at her with distress.
"It's just another game," she reiterates, her words softer this time. Was that it? If so, then he really wasn't any different. He just patted himself for being "not as bad" as the others.

"Nah I'm not Robin nor do I believe it's a game."
Shane immediately disagreed with a shake of his head, he didn't want to talk down on her because he could kinda tell she'd kill him if he was. Or at least thrash out at him and destroy any chances at friendship between them.
'I know my reasons aren't the best but it was stressful when I...'came out' okay and attempted to figure this all out...because I had no place to really go to okay? I did something cause something happened and kinda forced myself into Pandemonium, I know what it's like being bulwark it's bad enough as is but what I did immediately after gaining my power just would've made all chances of a having an easy Bulwark life impossible and I had to hide what I could do I'd go insane."
God could you be any more vague Shane, but he couldn't help it, chances of him breaking down were guaranteed if he had to explain that moment. He took a few breaths to calm himself as the memory was causing him to mildly panic, just fuck today in general it was too stressful and annoying he couldn't solve it simply with destruction.

Kasey goes still as Shane argues back, letting him get the vague, almost cryptic rambling out of his system as he hinted at things without ever naming them. She could feel the twinges of frustration and disgust wind around curiosity and compassion. She draws her knees up to her chest, looping her arms around them.
"What happened?" The words come hesitantly, without malice. She could see he was struggling, adding to her own. Maybe she should lay off.

Shane had initially glared at her with pure black eyes in response to her question before closing them and letting a sigh out. He opened his eyes and they were back to their original color and softness before he glanced at her. She didn't know, an didn't any anger he could usually build up toward someone for asking that.
"...Something happened to someone during a dragon attack, I lost control and wiped out a few city blocks...and unfortunately with powers as flashy as mine it's not hard to trace those damages back to Sanduleak..."
He could at least remove some of the vagueness but he could some old pain showing it's ugly head in his heart, having to look away and wiping his eyes. Dammit this shouldn't be so hard.

"Something happens to someone. Every. Day." Kasey forces herself upright, then shoves herself off of the chair completely. "That's part of the problem. "You lost control, and what? You took out a few city blocks. What about the Dragon? Or did they get away?" She shakes her head, jabbing a finger at him as the bitterness returns. If not for that, she probably would have been more concerned about the look Shane - no, Sounduleak - had given her.
"What would you even do if it came back, or another one showed up? Take out another few blocks? Loose control again?" She'd wondered the same thing about herself, once. Now it was too late to ever know the answer, but did he?

Shane knew his argument was weak and that she could shoot it down, but hearing that immediate retort and her bitterness throw at him with pointed finger. He couldn't help the twisted feeling in his gut as he stood up with the dark glare in his eyes once more, finally blowing up.
"ALRIGHT! HOW BOUT WE GO OVER WHAT THE HELL THAT SOMETHING WAS! I LOST MY SISTER TO A FUCKING DRAGON THAT PROBABLY COULD'VE BEEN STOPPED IF EVERYONE WASN'T A FREAKING DUMBASS AND COULD GET THEIR HEAD OUT OF THEIR ASS AND LISTEN TO REASON! SUPERS AND NORMALS WORK TOGETHER AND BAM WE COULD HAVE A SHIT TON BETTER STUFF BUT NO THERE HAS TO BE CURES FOR SUPERS AND IMMEDIATE ARRESTS IF THEY'RE REVEALED AND SUPER CULTS THAT THINK THEY'RE BETTER THAN EVERYONE! And if you dare say I didn't try to save her, how bout you consider that after her death is when my fucking eyes went HEY WE'RE SUPER YOU COULD'VE HELPED! BUT I WAS KID AND ANGRY AND LOST CONTROL AND MY SISTER!"
Panting for breath after his out burst, he quickly released a flash without warning to shoot his own chair to pieces that dissipated into light. It probably scared her but he only cared a little, she had pushed and pushed without giving any answers in return.
"People are stupid and I hate it...I'm happy to be one who causes mayhem but I will throw all that aside to kill every dragon that decides to cross over to this town...unlike what I've become and done, she would've wanted that at least."

The gates to the underworld had opened with a howling storm. The outburst is so unlike him, but Kasey holds her ground and lets him shout at her. She knows where her bag is and what's inside it, but what might work again Shane as he was now? She had more information on how his power worked now that she saw it more than once, but it seemed improvisation may be the key to survival today.
She visibly jumped as the chair exploded, lips pressing into a thin line as he continued. In many ways, they were not so different, but as it was, she had invited potential danger into her life once more. Her hands balled into fists.
"Good for you," she snapped. "Good for fucking. You." It was her turn now, the bitterness and pain she tried to tell herself didn't exist rising up like the waves from the beach, only now they washed over her and threatened to drown her, instead.
"Great for you for moving on. Great for your purpose. But you know what? YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE!" She wanted to throw something, to hit him or scream until the entire world heard them and her throat was left raw. But it was just the two of them on that lonely rooftop.
She was alone. With a super.
"HOW ABOUT WE TALK ABOUT HOW YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LOST SOMEONE? HOW ABOUT WE THINK ABOUT WHAT ITS LIKE TO WATCH SOMEONE DIE TRYING TO DO SOMETHING GOOD, SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE HELPED THE SAME SUPER THAT KILLED HIM?!"

Shane actually had to hold in a depressed chuckle when he saw her fists balled up, she was considering this turning into a fight, even with the repeated promises that he wasn't going to hurt her...she thought he would hurt her. With that somber thought he flashed another chair into existence and sat on it with as calm a glare as he could muster. They were both damaged.
"First, I've never moved, second I lack any purpose, and third...I'm sorry if that gives you any, I don't know, comfort? closure? Nah that's not the right word...who am I kidding we're lost aren't we? You're already have your image of me...and I don't know I don't think I'll ever be able to change it will I? I'm just a punk with powers who causes harm to others, and it's not completely wrong or right."
In the beginning he had punctuated each point with a raised finger but once he got to three, his hand just fell like his head, tears hitting the rooftop they stood on. Fuck this life and world, why the fuck couldn't it be simple. With a hard gulp, he waved a hand in front of his face and flashed on the emotionless mask of his Super and looked up at her.
"Would this make it easier for you? Solve the conflict between who I am, a pun loving dork or destructive comedian? Because I will tell you right now...I've given up on figuring which is really me...all I know is."
Oh who was he kidding, he choked, what did he know? She's right, he always ignored his actions and what they could do to others. But he had to at least get this out for the both of them.
"I-...I'm not all bad right Kasey? We all deserve saving sometimes right?"
Even with the mask on his face, tears dripped though to the ground til it and he cracked partially, half of his face now no longer covered by the hardened light or emotion.

"I think that's pretty obvious." She folds her arms over her chest at his glare, almost scowling. But for all the blatant statement could be made, what else? She wasn't in a position to advise Shane on anything, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to. She watched as he sat down in a new chair, listing his reasons, and in the end, all she can do is shake her head. Not a moment later, she runs her hands over her face and entwines them with her hair, pulling against her scalp as she tries to focus on something, anything that would make sense.
It was a defining moment for both, when he admitted to not knowing where part of his identity ended and the other began. She could point it out to him, and it had nothing to do with the mask he worse - or so she thought. She raises a hand, starting to point at him to emphasize whatever she was about to say, but the wavering of his voice and the use of her own words against her shakes her to her core. He didn't even know where those words came from, the pain they brought.
She should never have said them. She should have left him to drown in the lake when she realized he was a super. And yet, she hadn't. What did that make her? Her hands slowly fall to her sides as she watches part of his mask crack and fall away. They were similar for all they were different.
"You are what you are." A thousand thoughts clamor in her head. He had lashed out, but not at her. He made puns - he made her laugh. He was a super. They had fun. A villain. Did that mean anything? Her friend was hurting, breaking, and she was just standing by. Just watching. Just like before. Shane knew what that was like. Sanduleak knew what that was like. Sanduleak caused situations like that to be possible.
"I don't decide that. You do."

Shane stared up at her and wiped away tears along with the remnants of his mask, he hadn't felt this weak in forever and this pressure was stifling in it's own right.
"I don't know about that..."
His voice was the weakest it had ever been, flashbacks to simple times with his own sibling flashed before his eyes. Of times when Supers were just a rumor or some conspiracy. With a violent shake of his head Shane cleared his head before staring at Kasey...or was she Canary right now? He couldn't tell and he didn't know if she could either...who was he kidding, she probably knew who she was.
"I have so many questions, some I don't think I'll ever get answers to but....I have to ask you why did you decide to save me? What changed from then and now? What happened to you? I thought we were both alright with eachother, Sandu and Canary didn't kill eachother and Kasey only hit Shane with a shoe...why does making them same make them fight, why can't Shane be Sanduleak and Canary be Kasey?"
He had so many more questions flooding his mind, he had been the one being interrogated and he tried to comply but every time he did he felt like his answers were shot down and tossed to the side until he snapped. This unfairness was driving him close to insanity and he had to know what changed.
